landry Posted January 28, 2016 Report Posted January 28, 2016 He got ripped in the comments section though.
wormdunker Posted January 28, 2016 Report Posted January 28, 2016 You'll never see polypropylene rope on my boat. Braided nylon only.
fishindevil Posted January 28, 2016 Report Posted January 28, 2016 yup the poly stuff is crap !!! wont see it on my boat either .....nylon rope all the way
DRIFTER_016 Posted January 28, 2016 Report Posted January 28, 2016 All 1/2" braided nylon on my boat. Even my anchor line is braided nylon. $40 for a pair of mooring lines is cheap insurance IMHO.
craigdritchie Posted January 29, 2016 Report Posted January 29, 2016 This article is worth a read: http://www.boat.com/2016/01/05/your-boat-was-expensive-do-you-really-trust-a-2-rope-from-the-dollar-store-to-secure-it/ Thanks guys, glad you enjoyed it. :-) Dave's right - totally cheap insurance. But every now and then you see people use the bargain bin crap ... it never ceases to amaze me.
Quickspence Posted January 29, 2016 Report Posted January 29, 2016 Great advice and the right time of the year to be thinking of it. Do you really want a claim on your boat insurance because you cheeped on rope? That can cause so many other bad things to happen, like damage. Thanks "All Knowing Angler" for the great advice.
