Ice Power Auger - ATV carrier ideas

Looking for ideas on either buying or making own power ice auger mount for the ATV...maybe a good idea to carry it on front rack and free up some space in the sled/rear cargo carrier.

It'll be great if you can post some pictures/ideas.

Is anyone using this digger one Cabelas is selling:

Any reviews on it?

I have a box on the back rack of the ATV, the auger sits on top held down by one ratchet strap. It does not move at all. The box is about 40" long, 12" high and 12" wide. Remember whatever size box you make to leave enough room to be able to remove the seat. I can still sit 2 people on the ATV for short runs.

How about this combo idea:

One of these mounted at the rear rack:

http://www.ebay.ca/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=ATV%20Drop%20Baskets&rt=nc&LH_PrefLoc=1&_trksid=p2045573.m1684

And this mounted at the front rack:

As long as then can also install 2Up seat I think this maybe the ultimate solution...and ditch the sled all together...and not be limited by tongue weight when using the receiver mounted cargo carriers...

I'd think this combines should give me enough space for all my stuff and the two kids....and without the sled be easier travel in deeper snow getting stuck less without the sled behind...

I'm not sure how the weight distribution is different between that rack and the receiver mounted one; it's all carried on the rear springs of the ATV. I'm not sure how removable that unit is either for when you put it in the truck...

That ATV is a factory single seat configuration, adding a 2 up seat doesn't make it legal for roadside use. I have not had any getting stuck problems with my Otter sled behind the ATV.

Greg,

I believe the tongue weight is about 100 lbs only....loaded hitch mounted rack with much of my stuff in it will weight significantly more than that....I see people have been having problems when overloading the tongue weight.

On the other hand the rear rack is rated for 500 lbs....if I move the power auger to the front rack....the rear drop basket rack with rest of my ice fishing stuff, the 2 Up seat and one of my boys will not weight anywhere close to 500 lbs...again as long as I can mount the 2 Up seat on top of the forward portion of the meshed drop down basket rack.
