I just bought a tow bar for my frabill hut and a couple folks have said they had front end damage to their huts from towing over uneven ground and impact with ice or debris.

Is this a common thing? Has anyone installed a "skid plate" on the front of their hut for protection? I was thinking of custom fitting an aluminum plate to the initial point of contact but didn't really want more hole in it.

Put a plate in front and on the back side,a piece of 1/2 inch plywood. Cover the whole face of the area you are attaching the tow bar too.

Even pressure on the tow is what you want.

Yes, there can be damage done to the front of the sled due to sharp pieces of ice and rocks.

I had the bolts tear out on me and since have used 1/8" aluminum sheet to sandwich the front of the tub.

No issues since this has been done.

Make sure you put runners on the bottom. Thats where mine always gets punctured. Never had an issue with the tow bar causing damage.
