jimmer Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 When I fish all day and don't catch anything, I still figure it was better than being at work all day. That's what I thought until last Friday morning! And I wasn't skunked. What a crappy day!
jbailey Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 hmm skunked = bad beer when you get off the water haha
Handlebarz Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 It really depends on the context... 1. If you and a buddy are walleye fishing and you get 1 walleye and he gets 37 bass; 1 trophy muskie and a sunfish, he got skunked. 2. If you and I are walleye fishing and you get 1 walleye and I get 37 bass; 1 trophy muskie and a sunfish, you got an azz whoopin'. I resemble that theroy lol
muskymike Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 HAHAHA Adam, Thank you for making this site better. Some of your posts...funniest on the site.
johnl Posted June 5, 2012 Report Posted June 5, 2012 skunked means you caught nothing at all or a goby or carp
mercman Posted June 5, 2012 Report Posted June 5, 2012 And I have had days in my boat where we were targeting walleye and smallies helped make the day... Or an accidental musky...Definately not skunked LOL Just target a good time and you'll never get skunked...Got that right Mike!!!!
Twocoda Posted June 5, 2012 Report Posted June 5, 2012 TOO FUNNY. We have to go for a rootbeer someday. rootbeer hurts through the nose...just sayin
MCTFisher9120 Posted June 5, 2012 Report Posted June 5, 2012 Skunked is when you are heading out and you know the conditions are going to be a challenge but you head out on the water ready to fish, try out every bait and catch a fish that day or none at all....Skunked
dave524 Posted June 5, 2012 Report Posted June 5, 2012 Sometimes after a incidental catch, we will execute Plan B for the day therebye avoiding most defintions of the dreaded skunk
Christopheraaron Posted June 5, 2012 Report Posted June 5, 2012 Don't laugh. I've done that many times on Simcoe. Head out on the ice for Whitefish, but don't get any hits all morning. Go set up on the perch and 1/2 limit out in an hour. Head home a happy camper. Oh, no I do it quite a bit actually it's much more satisfying to say that you caught something.
OhioFisherman Posted June 5, 2012 Report Posted June 5, 2012 Skunked, not catching the intended target fish for me. They never seemed to want to weigh in anything but bass at a bass tournament.
Beans Posted June 6, 2012 Report Posted June 6, 2012 When you go fishing and don't catch nuttin"...you were "skunked" The first time I used my telescopic carp rod it was christened by a shoal carp (musky!) I was using corn on my hair rig and although it was not my targeted species I didn't considerate myself "skunked"... Tall tale ???...Ask Crappieperchhunter, he helped land it...
Dontcryformejanhrdina Posted June 6, 2012 Author Report Posted June 6, 2012 Well I was skunked today for the first time since April, only saw 1 pike that nipped at my bucktail. I blame the lightning for shortening my day by 4-5 hours. Monday I had my best pike day by far (in terms of numbers) catching 7 pike (had one on that was close to 40" but shook the hooks when I turned to grab the net), about 8 more hits and 2 musky follows (mid 30's and 40"er).
Stoty Posted June 7, 2012 Report Posted June 7, 2012 Skunked, not catching the intended target fish for me. They never seemed to want to weigh in anything but bass at a bass tournament.
Jacob Posted June 7, 2012 Report Posted June 7, 2012 If you don't catch any in-season fish, you got skunked. If you caught a fish but not your intended fish than it's a FAIL, you're not skunked, you're just lousy.
