tknohpy Posted August 15, 2010 Report Posted August 15, 2010 Hey Guys I have a Lund Pro-V with a panel that runs my bilge, livewell, nav lights and interior lights. Was fishing last Saturday and all was working well...came back Monday and nothing on the panel would work. Changed the main fuse, nothing. Took the panels off and tested that I was getting power to everywhere, all looks good. Anyone have any ideas as to what might be my problem? Thanks in advance!
Bill Shearer Posted August 15, 2010 Report Posted August 15, 2010 Check the grounds, power not returning to battery somehow?
tknohpy Posted August 15, 2010 Author Report Posted August 15, 2010 Can you tell me how I would go about testing the grounds?
Spiel Posted August 15, 2010 Report Posted August 15, 2010 I think a 12v continuity tester should do it. One end to the red wire feeding the instrument panel and the other to the ground (black) wire leaving the panel. Make sure the panel power supply switch is on.
bassjnkie Posted August 15, 2010 Report Posted August 15, 2010 My buddy had the same problem with his Lowe and it was the fuses. Check the fuses, if their good, than use the tester Spiel posted. The tester is inexpensive and very useful.
dave524 Posted August 15, 2010 Report Posted August 15, 2010 If you are getting power to the fuse panel, then maybe the buss strip connecting the individual fuse holders to the contacts that are connected to your battery have a problem, is it a copper trace on a board, maybe cracked?
aplumma Posted August 15, 2010 Report Posted August 15, 2010 The gauges in most boats are wired positive in series so it is most likely a ground issue. Remove clean and reinstall the ground and all of the wires that go to the battery. Find the ground wire that goes to gauges and see if it has come loose at the last gauge. Clip the continuity tester to the battery ground lug and touch the power wire to the gauges if their is power the light will come on and confirms the ground is missing. Art
tknohpy Posted August 15, 2010 Author Report Posted August 15, 2010 Thanks for the suggestions guys. I am not great at these things but will give it a try.
