Joey Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 Found this cool time lapse video of ants picking the carcass of a dead gecko clean. Paul has always said this would be a cool way to have a pike head cleaned to put in your den or something. Fascinating stuff. Ants v Gecko Joey
ccmtcanada Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 Loved that video Joey! It's pretty amazing how fast they can pick that thing clean.
BITEME Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 when i was a kid we use to clean swordfish bills this way stuff the meaty end in the pile and wait a few weeks
Garyv Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 Those ants work and do training of inspectors for revenue Canada!
oxcowboy Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 neat, there is a guy near us that is doing something similar with flesh eating beatles to clean deer skulls. when they get done, there is nothing left but a fleshless skull and some beetle manure, a quick scrub and they looked as though you had bleached them. jason
limeyangler Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 thats pretty cool Joey, gonna show my wife that one...she's into that sort of thing....lol.
BFSC Kevin Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 i recall seeing something like that before but with maggots to clean a skull... quite interesting.
cram Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 The museum in Toronto uses a bug/beetle room to clean carcasses....some of which are relatively big.
