lookinforwalleye Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 Hey guys just bought myself a new tow vehicle 2007 Dodge Durango and it does have the tow package but it does not have the ball mount, I have noticed there are various "drops" 2",4" etc. just wondering is there method in selecting the right one for my particular vehicle. Thanks
Gerritt Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 get the trailer level.. or resting a little back, back your truck up to the tongue and measure from the bottom of the receiver should give you a good idea on the amount of drop required. G

G Hmmm.. Trailers should ride level or slightly tongue end LOW, this prevents high speed sway/fishtailing.
HTHM Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 Phew, I thought you were thinking about getting married.......what fisherman said

skeeter Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 the standard towing height is 18" off the ground!
vance Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 Height depends on the trailer,my shorelander's is 15-17 inches from the top of the ball.Check with the trailer manufacturer, they are all a little different. vance
Cast-Away Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 Call a reputable hitch place. They should be able to tell you the correct height.
