HTHM Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 Has anyone ever been to one of these auctions? If so, what can I expect? It is being held Oct 27 in Innisfil at Aero Marine Auction Sales Ltd as I understand it.
irishfield Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 (edited) Like Brian Says...if you don't know exactly what you are looking at, nor have the technical knowledge to determine what you are getting without seeing it run..go elsewhere. If you know what you are doing and are willing to gamble then go. Consider a lot of the stuff is repo...so it may have been blown up before the bank repo'd it, wasn't winterized and has sat for a few years, etc. Edited October 18, 2007 by irishfield
Fishmaster Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 Worth a lookie been lots of times there is some great deals some times one mans junk is anothers pride and joy ..
Terry Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 and when you bid on a boat you see sitting on a trailer, most times you are bidding on only the boat the trailer doesn't go with it or it's will be auctioned separately

HTHM Posted October 18, 2007 Author Report Posted October 18, 2007 Thanks for the tip about the trailers. I have a mechanic brother coming along with me. I am going there with no intention of buying just to see what is what.
irishfield Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 I am going there with no intention of buying just to see what is what. Save that line for the spouse.....
icefisherman Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 Well I went to the same auction at the same place about a month ago..........total waste of time...all junk boats and they sold one very old Lund tiller for.....$7000?!!? The buyer must have been out of his mind! Cheers, Ice Fisherman
misfish Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 And if you want to see what a RUDE auctioneer can be like, just go and see for yourself. Oh and if anything is really worth the money, theres insiders. I said to much. I have seen it enough to know, it,s a waste of time.
Rizzo Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 thanks for sharing this info. I've often thought of going (not to buy, just to watch what goes on). I'm far too ignorant on boat/motor mechanics to consider buying one there. May go one time just to see the rude auctioneer! Perhaps he'll let me burp into the mic...unless he's a different type of rude of course
Handlebarz Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 one thing for theses auctions that are held regluarly go and watch the bidders that dont win or get GREAT deals you will see a pattern some that sell for low $$$ will be back later atleast when you are going to buy you will know who you are bidding against and even if they change house bidders (or what ever name you wnat to use) they will still be doing the same things watching for signs from the auctioneer or hanging out with the same people before the auction. I have never been to this place but have been to many more in my younger days and you do get paid to bid or just up bid so like Brian said BUYER BEWARE
nancur373 Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 There's an auction come May 9, 2009. Anyone going? Thiunking I Might go for a laugh
Twocoda Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 Burp in the mic ????? LMAO i didnt see that one comming ... Make sure you read the terms of the auction...if you bid a dollar ...that may translate into a buck twenty plus GST...the auctioneers have to make their two points on the dollar.... auctions are fun .....kinda like fishing for treasures ....if it is your intentions to burp in the mic...PLEASE bring a video cam with you ...lmao
