  1. Geoff, have a good trip! FLA sure beats Scugog Remember to post pictures when you are back! - Will
  2. Nice fish! Thanks for sharing.
  3. Welcome aboard! 3MAN13 Stoney Lake is definitely very rocky and that's the main reason I have not fished there yet. Mohawk Bay Trailer Park eh? I've been going to Dave's place for the past 4~5 yrs for Walleye opener, great location and just a wonderful atmosphere.
  4. A new soft water fishing season has begun! As always, it starts with catfish from Lower Grand. Thanks for posting
  5. Soon enough those robins will sing very loudly in the morning, my 6AM nature alarm. Follow by spring shower that leaves myself and the Robins to competing for the fattest worm.
  6. Remember someone recently asked about this sale, well its on through march 16 (TODAY!) - 21! The sale apply in-store and at the booth at Sportsmen' Show. I'm guessing the selection will probably be better at the store? But perhaps the newer stuff are at the show? One thing I learnt from past event is that sometimes they might bump the price for certain items up just a bit for the sale, so you might not save as much as you think. Regardless of their little tricks, I usually find myself enjoying this event LeBaron No Tax Sale Flyer No tax on regular items, I don't think you can combine with the club 10% membership on top. Sale items are excluded so are other things mentioned in the fine print. No, I don't work for them, just a customer who has spent ridiculous amount of money there, and for many years to come.
  7. Mustad & Owner hooks, same style, big price difference. Why buy both? Left-hand bait-casting reel, I like! Never been a crank bait fisherman myself, I just might pickup some of those 'Sexy Shads' for this year.
  8. Nice summary of your winter. May the force be with you, next winter. For now, go back to what you are good at, steelhead and carp!
  9. I watched that movie, you can download it almost anywhere... Very informative and a unique style of documentary. Highly recommend! Trying to capture videos of the secretive dauphin slaughter was indeed challenging and interesting!
  10. LOL! thanks for sharing.
  11. cooked instant noodle
  12. fishindude, WOW what a video! It deserves a post on its own! Definitely one of the best diving videos I've seen.
  13. Been out Scugog a couple times in the past 2 weeks, starting to get better with ice fishing. Starting to catch good size crappie and oddly a lot of bass. Main Question: If I happen to catch SMB, (didnt even know Scugog had 3lb+ SMB) am I in the right area for walleye? I remember reading articles on how they prefer similar structures, does it apply in the winter? Catching out of season bass is probably nothing to brag about, but try catch two 3lb Largie on a single tip-up with 2-hook pickeral rig. No picture for proof(O.O.S.), wow was it exciting trying to lip two bass through an 8" hole. Thanks for all the help with my previous post on "Struggle with Scugog", as now I have a lot of confidence going out every time. - Will
  14. Try those 'float pill' looking things behind the Colorado blade. I usually use my harness behind a walker type sinker, and I like the worm very buoyant and float above the bottom. Works well for less than 1.5 mph trolling or drifting. Adjust your weights accordingly. loop----3 foot lead----[single bead][Colorado blade][single bead][float pill][single bead][#4 octopus hook] --2"--[#4 octopus hook]
  15. Eh! Oh! Canada Go!
  16. Thank you for the report, excellent pictures and videos. I'm truly jealous of the fishing opportunities you have
  17. I usually fish the afternoon dusk period at Scugog, been out two times and so far cant get the skunk off. Trying to get any fish to bite, I've done the following without success: - downsize, minnow and lure (small shiners and Size2 Jigging Rap, and Smallest Buckshot I can find) - I have found a nice weed edge, around 4-5 FOW - marked fish on sonar, no takers Please help me! What should I try? * Should I be fishing on top off the weed or the soft bottom next to it? * How should I present my offering? Bang the bottom, slow rise? * Perhaps I should fish deeper? Shallow? ******************************************************************************** Planning to go fishing at least twice next week, if anyone is interested, I'd be glad to learn a few things, or show you the basic knowledge that I know. I have a 2 men portable and gas auger. PM or Email [email protected] Thanks - Will
