May I add, one of our sponsor site, www.fishingbayofquinte.com also has very good beginner information on Fall walleye. Check out their maps of boat launch and forum section. Fishhunter offers a great oppertunity with the hookups, you'll learn plenty. I joined once last year, and immediately after with my own equipments, I had success catching.

Beautiful fish, I have not yet caught a Brown trout. Any general tips for beginners? What to look for in location and bait presentation?

Was there yesterday be4 the rain, they were hitting on my baseball size skeins. Lost all three fish, any tips for landing them? I was using, Okuma Aventa, Fenwick 10'6 Light action and 8lb test. (I know this is challenging, any tips on fish fighting?) Stayed till 11pm, bottom bouncing did well, was 3/8. I can't say if I'm flossing or the fish are biting, but they were all hooked in the mouth. The fish are there, but please respect other anglers. Bring your line in when "fish on" and be polite if you do happen to tangle lines.

quality swivel is definitely needed!

Deciding on a long weekend trip, and a suggestion was Bon Echo Provincial Park. Any information would be great! Species of fish? Near by lake? Techniques and tips? Thanks

Lately I've fished Rice Lake a lot, and the lake have produce a lot of fish. Fishing the thick weed edge with spinnerbait, buzzbait and senko type have caught plenty for me. I actully caught my personal best this yr at the same location with white spinnerbait, 4.5lb. The best part was probably letting it go and knowing its still swimming in the lake. (Sorry no pictures) Not sure if this is appropiate for the General Discussion section, I have a spot or two for my tomorrow's fishing trip. Anyone interested for some fishing at Rice tomorrow, let me know ASAP! Planning to fish Rice Lake tomorrow afternoon (Thurseday Aug 13). Will be targeting Largemouth Bass in the weeds, was at the same spot on Tuesday, the fishing was pretty good. I'm driving from Toronto area, so will take the HWY 401 and exit at Cobourg. Pick up near the highway only. Chip-in for gas I'll check my PM until 1pm Thurseday Aug 13. Thanks

will hit the bar later for the show. Can't believe how much they charge for UFC on pay per view

Congrad! That is a fish not many people will ever catch in his or her lifetime!

The sleeping deck at the bow can be quite comfortable, as the waves gently put you into deep sleep where you miss all the fishing oppertunities

fascinating, those things give me goose bumps

Funny story, on thurseday night, my gd friend (not very good at fishing) was reluctant to wake up 6am in the morning to go fishing, so we bet on the Laker and Magic game. If Lakers win, he comes with me, if not he stays home and sleep in. Well... he came and caught the biggest fish in his life. Like last time we pretty much fish within the pack, and at first we tried to catch Whities at the very bottom. (80FOW) For some reason, EVERYONE was catching except for us. HONESTLY! every direction was catching white fish, except for us. Lure: #7 Chub colour jigging rapala, Blue Fox jig 3/4 oz tipped with wht tube, Buck shot spoon. Line: 15lb main pWp w/ 10lb florucarbon tip Technique: lift, drop, pop, pause Please help me, what am I doing wrong? Super frustrated with not catching but seeing fish landed in every direction, I reeled my buckshot spoon quickly back to the boat. THEN I caught my first Laker! a small 2lber. I realize the Lakers are in the middle water column, so I switched to my killer tube and followed the sonar closely. I saw a school, reeled my tube towards the same depth, BAM fish on! Another 3lb Laker! I see a pattern, immediantly I switched up for my friend. He fished for an hr or 2 without success and the last 10min befor we were leaving. He got a hit! At first we thought it was a small fish, but there were air bubbles coming from the deep, my first instinct was, "TURTLE"!? Few min later after a great fight the fish came close to the surface and it was a 6.6lb Laker! Not the biggest for many but for my friend, the thing was a beast, and truly memorable! I'll definitely try to squeeze time out of my work schedule and try Simcoe again!

First time fishing for Whities at Lake Simcoe, my dad caught the only fish around 2.(Must be Father's day luck that's getting stronger.) This type of fishing is just like everyone says, look for the boat fleet, and the fish is there. Everyone was getting a lot of fish and I believe the lures we were using are too big. What sizes of Rapala jiggin rap, William Ice spoon and bad boy jigs do you guys usually use for 80 FOW? 80FOW fin flipped Whitie 4.6lb

I'm looking for a place to launch my boat, I perfer the parking is not $20 like Innisfil Park. I found Island Grove marina, how do they charge? Are there other launched I should look into? Thanks for any info I'll be heading out this afternoon and my first attempt at Whities and Lakers. Reports will come very soon.

Since I have no work tomorrow and the day after, my dad and I plan to target the deep zone of Simcoe. What are the common lures and how to fish them? What type of structures should I look for? Same as ice fishing spots? Depth? Thanks for any info ps. We went to BOQ last weekend and the Walleye bite was on fire. Caught our limit befor 10am. We fished near Deseronto. Worm spinner in chartuse, and suprisingly BRIGHT RED!

Nice fish! What was the secret lure?

My father and I have been fishing quite abit of Scugog lately. Few nights ago we stayed on the lake for quite abit and realize the crappie bite was HOT arnd 10pm or so. (when its completely dark) VERY CLOSE TO SHORE. Slip bobber 1 1/2 ' with a live minnow. There were only big fish caught, 9"+ crappies and there's also big sun fish in the mix! You might even catch an occasional walleye while slip bobering. FYI: all the crappies I caught have not spawn yet, so I believe they should be tight in groups REMEMBER TO BE SAFE fishing at night time, always have your nav lights on! As for the Walleye, we didn't really find a consistent pattern. Most of my fish were caught during dusk, trolling sml olive Xrap and Rapala JR. We are new to this lake and I see almost everyone is using bukctail jigs to pull arnd the weeds. It is definitely something for me to pick up quickly. Feel free to share tactics and tips, there's always something we need to learn about fishing, especailly at BOG.

Excellent read, and some very creative ideas! Not all the pictures worked for me, little red x boxes.

I usually launch at Caesarea launch, but while fishing north end of the lake, towards the river to Lindsay, I saw a boat launch on my east, near Janetville? Where is it exactly? Parking? Condition? Cost? Thanks for input

So last year I had the zoning problem with parking my 18' boat on the drive way, so I moved to a local storage area in Richmond Hill. I was payin $100 + per month. What a rip off! Last fall after Quinte walleye, I left my boat at a trailer park in Deseronto, and they charged me $70 for a whole YEAR! Now I need a 2nd parking location for my boat, cause If I want to fish Simcoe (or any other lake away from Quinte), its stupid to get the boat from Quinte and drive back to Simcoe. I remember seeing farm barns offer storage but dont remember where and parking outside is not a problem Im not looking for any fancy storage solution, and it can be any where between Richmond Hill, Simcoe South Shore, and Port Perry. Thanks for all your input!

This weekend, I'll visite one of my past fishing spots for night time walleye. Usually I run live minnow + lindy rig or 3 way rig due to snagging. Are there any other effective techniques for the night time bite? (the water is pretty fast, at least 1/2 ounce to get to bottom and reel in steady)

Excellent set up! I dont see the OFC sticker on truck or boat!
