  1. always change up your hooks and split rings with any Live Target bait if your going to chase fish that actually pull (ie, pike, muskie, salmon, trout, etc). Super nice fish!!!
  2. 120-150 a day is normal for a boat rental. not many at 100 or under.
  3. aaron shirley showed me the surgeons knot to connect braid to flouro lead (name sounds hard, easiest knot on the planet to tie) many years ago. I use this knot for ALL my King Salmon needs....it doesn't break....and it's SO EASY to tie. Check it out
  4. if you're a fisherman, a closed vehicle (SUV, Van, etc) will often meet needs better than pickup trucks. if you have expensive tackle you don't want it rattling around the bed of a truck.
  5. yep. brake cables work really well for that purpose.
  6. would be nice to have those included with new models instead of waiting for the cables to break, forcing owners to purchase these at an inflated cost.
  7. i use 4000 Ci4 reels off my riggers for salmon...just cause I like them light as I'm using medium light loomis spinning rods with them.... They certainly do pulse....
  8. MJL, I'm assuming your using the 4000 size reel for pier Salmon applications?
  9. Grundy PP doesn't allow outboards (or at least on most of their lakes). Mikisew is a crap load of fun on Eagle Lake...but I believe all bass. Better lake for your boat through. Don't know Restoule.

a pike and a tiger muskie from Rice on the same outing..... i know folks who have cottages on Rice who swear neither are in the lake.... Nows the time to head to Lake O to see if you can catch a unicorn.
  11. if you are a "light gear" nut, someone who has to have the lightest gear possible, the Ci4 would be the way to go. otherwise, i'd save the money
  12. the live target banana baits and live target smelts are also quality baits...once you swap out the cheap hooks and split rings. live target frogs are "ok". cheap chinese hooks, and the material doesn't collapse as easily as spro's....but, they still certainly work. i note the baits in this thread show "trokar" hooks for the brand...that is an improvement on what they use on the standard kopper frogs. (maybe the frogs will follow suit with trokar hooks?) some of the Livetarget baits are top notch (with some required alterations), some are simply used to catch fisherman.... I have a feeling those who buy this bait also have some baitballs in their tackle box
  13. I've been to Sharon GC for a client event. Definitely a swanky place.
  14. look at the intersection of highway 522 and 69 - Grundy Lake. keep looking further up highway 69, to where bucke lake (in grundy park) meets highway 69. on the other wide of highway 69 (the west side), there is a river/stream/marsh that leads into a lake. it has an island on the lake with crown land camping. this is not a secret remote lake, by any means, but it has pike, bass, and some pickeral. good camping. but it is south of the French river, so a little closer. you will have to park off the side of the highway (the east side of the highway, just up from the crossing, has some rough parking).
  15. I'm sure Grant is making it worth Mercers while to plug that thing, lol.
  16. but a top water frog, lets say a Spro dean rojas frog, still walks the dog, chugs, and moves "like a frog". a popper pops. that will literally just be dragged in....and doesn't represent anything. it won't create much of a disturbance.
  17. and if you painted the hot dog real purdy, you could pay $20 bucks from Koppers for it
  18. so they are designed to be reeled in on their sides, like a flat fish on the surface.... yep, another koppers live target bait designed to catch fisherman. when was the last time you saw a fish just cruising alone, on its side, on the surface, lol.
  19. so are they designed to be fished so they look like the bait is swimming flat on its side, or are they weighted so that they swim properly....but then the hooks would be sideways?
  20. hey I bought that exact lure, colour and all, for my father as a fathers day gift in .... ohhh ... about 1990 thought it would be good for pike trolling....went too deep....but I think my old man still has it around.
  21. mine was caused by the charger not changing to "complete" and basically cooked the battery (although showed no voltage on the meter)... I know the red light kept flashing....that was back in February....probably for 3 weeks or so.... In March I charged them up full, as I also have a 24v tiller motor I use for slow trolling early spring browns...noticed I could only troll for 2 hours (or less) on a full charge....last year I could get almost 8 hours off a full charge... so I tried charging and discharging the batteries half dozen times, hoping they would get better....they have not. thing about interstate is, at least living in Hamilton, its so easy to buy them, as the distribution centre is in Stoney Creek....2 minutes from my wifes work... I just can't believe my charger damaged the batteries as bad as it appears to have....batteries basically a year old.
  22. no, i agree. my charger did contribute, and I have replaced it.... but with that said, the batteries shouldn't be as bad as they are....after a decade or more of using Interstate I thought it would be time to change it up....
  23. After my last purchase of Interstate batteries (bought May last year, now won't hold a charge), I need to purchase 2 12v batteries. My current batteries are SRM29 size. Need to pick up two new batteries....don't mind spending for quality batteries. I've heard "optima", "deca", etc are "better" batteries. I'm in the Hamilton area....and nope, not getting another set of interstate. Any suggestions?
  24. No. You have to keep the turbine on the property for the length of the 20 year lease with the IESO. Not sure what you meant by "never". You can't during the 20 year lease....that is the point of the lease, lol.
