  1. Is that speed 3.85 Mb/s or 3.85 MB/s 8b's in a B 3.85 MB/s isn't bad for HD streaming. 3.85 Mb/s is quite low, and I wouldn't think be best for HD streaming.
  2. a couple specific examples I can provide. First is the Shimano Crucial. I own a couple original run Crucials. One broke. It was replaced with a new model one. There is literally night and day difference in the quality, and responsiveness, between the original Crucial, and the new one. The new one literally feels dead. BUT, it has a sweet split grip and an EVA foam handle. For trolling Quinte I have 8 Shimano Clarus 9' Rods. I have three generations of Clarus rods within those 8. The original "reddish hue" ones are by far the best. The middle "brownish hue one" is the almost as good as the original. The newest "black" ones are by far the worst. Just a couple specific examples I thought would be worth providing. Happy New Years everyone.
  3. that is an interesting question. while rods have moved to specific tapers, and lighter blanks, it is arguable whether the rods are actually "better" now than before. Rod manufacturers have moved to many cost savings, that don't improve the rod, but reduce the costs. These include EVA foam handles, split grips, etc. The Cumara and the Cumulus rods, at least the original runs, have almost a cult like following. I see rods selling for more than the original price. Don't get "too" wrapped up in the "lightness" of the rod....as light doesn't automatically equal sensitive. the other thing to watch out for is "high end" names, such as st croix / g loomis, and their "bargain discount" models. These are often not even built by in the same factories as the rest of the lineup....often in china by a 3rd party company, than rebranded. The G Loomis Frontier and St Croix Mojo Bass are good examples. Your paying for a chinese sub quality rod, but with a brand name attached. Do some searching on the rod model you are looking to replace. You may get a better feel if "upgrading" to a bps rod is actually worth it. Tackletour is a great resource for these types of questions, as many of the anglers on there are true enthusiasts.
  4. prices for the high end rapala trolling rods are higher than what Bills Bait sells them for.....and I doubt the pricing on the site includes shipping.... but I guess if you can catch one on sale, that would be worth it.
  5. oh it's the same.....man....so totally jealous!!! those sticky buns. the bread. do you have a recipe or ability to make traditional Finnish pancakes? dipping pulla in coffee was a childhood favourite.
  6. Wait. What? As in Pulja bread? Must be. My Finnish heritage used to make the BEST Pulja bread. My great grandmother made Pulja bread with Finnish pancakes. What I would do for some of Mummo's Pulja and Pancakes. She also used to make Pulja buns, which were similar to cinnamon buns.....just....well....different Enjoy the holidays and the family kind Sir.
  7. sorry Terry not providing a non biased link to some lowrance challenges people have since lowrance was purchased. this place sometimes.
  8. the power degradation curves are poor. worst part is, most folks don't know, because it's a degradation, not a failure.... lowrance advises to use a sock or similar when trailering to minimize damage to the bottom of your transducer from road debris, etc.
  9. http://www.lakeontariounited.com/fishing-hunting/topic/60451-lowrance-customer-service/page-2 Lowrance has gone down - way down. Transducers are the biggest fault.
  10. 6K for a 14 year old boat and motor? is that the going price for a 14 year old outfit, with a merc on the back taboot? That was only a shell of a boat if I'm not mistaken...no flooring, livewells, etc, etc. wow.
  11. anyone hip to the new Pink Floyd release? The Early Years Box Set: 1965 - 1972 Wowzers. Nothing like waking up the house on a Saturday morning to a 1970 version of Careful with that Axe Eugene from the BBC sessions.
  12. some advice to get to the "c" level? well, if your company is national, or multi-national, expect to have an MBA, even though it is - for the most part - a waste a time. small companies you can still get to the "c" level without the MBA. for most of my colleagues who are at the "c" level, most wish they could go back to doing what they were doing prior to the promotion...as you will work far more hours than you are paid for. but for those who want to rise to the top, and being in one place isn't sufficient, being a 'c' level exec is the place to be.
  13. check sail in burlington.
  14. those are also 4 dollar lures....you have to consider that....made in china, and the cheapest lures on the market....
  15. so the motor still "sorta" works...i can hear it trying to pull the chain...and if I use my hand and help pull the chain, it will work, sorta...but with a grinding noise. that is how I was able to determine it wasn't electrical, or sensor related. I googled/youtube'd my brand and "fixes", trying a few things first.... it almost seems like the motor's gears, or whatever it uses to actually turn the cog that the chain is on, is labouring. if that makes any sense.
  16. wanna know why they won't work the same? check the plastic lips. I mean closely. the new rr'fins have a cheap, light, plastic lip.... yes, you can spend time tuning them, but as someone who owns over 100 riplin redfins (yes, I have a problem, I admit it), the new ones simply put - suck. and don't get me started on the super weak split rings and the flaking paint (on the silver blue and black blue ones). once you get that new one finally working, one fish and it'll be back out again. but nothing beats a working riplin redfin, and that includes all the fancy 30 dollar japanese baits.
  17. Thanks! Will give them a shout. Cheers,
  18. Been away working a ton....Wife mentioned the garage door opener isn't working. When home I note the motor appears to be dead...but not sure....unit isn't very old it appears. Anyone in the Hamilton area know a garage door guy who wants to make some $$$$ on a repair and/or replace?
  19. don't be too sure of that.
  20. any idea what that fish cost tax payers? great photo none the less!!!
  21. we are at .500, not less.
  22. thought Cooperators was a good option. I'm not getting into the banks as insurance companies discussion, as it will be viewed as bias.
  23. As for the game, one of the most fun games I've attended this year. 3rd and 1, game break point, instead of putting Masoli in and running, Zach drops back and connects with CO2 for a 42 yard play. Next play throws to Toliver for the TD! (the only TD of the game). TiCats first in the East! Going to need to start saving my pennies...if (when) they make it to the GC, it'll cost me close to a grand for my wife and I to go I'm sure....
