17 US mpg = 21 IMP mpg = 13.5 l/100km that's exactly what my 07 ram with 1.5" higher and 1" wider than stock tires gets with 75% city and 25% highway driving. i'd expect more after all the hype about the eco boost. time to go out and take off the fan clutch to squeeze a little more mpg out of her during the cold months...

fish a piece of heavy line/wire through the hole and attach it to the connector rod thing and pull the rod up through each hole. maybe thread a small eye bolt into the end of the rod to attach the wire? rotate rod until "puzzle piece" fits in and then pull up to lock it in place so you can put on the top/nut. i've never seen one of these thing's before, but i'm sure there's a way.

another vote for excalibur. they're bigger and heavier than many compound crossbows, but the reliability and simplicity of a recurve is worth it. plus they're low maintenance, you don't need any tools to change a string, and the accuracy is awesome. to top it off, their customer service and warranty is exceptional. i just finished replacing the original 4" vanes on my firebolts with some 2" blazers and will be testing them tomorrow. i've heard nothing but good reviews from others

jigging up some fish and shooting passing waterfowl at the same time is what i call one hell of a day. i've never even thought of this before, but talk about excellent timing. i'm heading to long point next week so i guess mr. 870 is going for a boat ride birds seem to know when they're safe and usually have no issues passing by a fishing boat, but will steer clear of a guys hunting. i'm thinking you may be onto something with fooling wary birds

good stuff. i was lucky and my fox red yellow lab is a natural. with no training i took her on her first goose hunt when she was over a year old. first flock = 3 shots and 3 geese retrieved out of the water. works for me

same with deer, they know when they're safe the wild turkey reintroduction in ontario was a huge success and it's hard to believe that 25 years ago there was ZERO. they figured there was 70,000 birds across ontario in 2007 and that number should be much higher now, but i couldn't find numbers. let's just hope the elk follow suit

out of curiosity, why continue to use such a long rod if you know that it's overkill, it gets caught in trees, and you have a shorter rod at home that would be more appropriate for a small creek?

http://gopro.com/hd-hero3-cameras looks like it's time to sell the hero for one of these new ones. sucks for those that bought the hero 2 this year...

Alabama Rig - anyone doing anything with it?
ch312 replied to Harrison's topic in General Discussion
it's already been said that they're nothing new and i think if they are that great than everyone would be using them. a pro having a lucky day isn't anything special. i'd think the only time they are useful is when fish are schooling and you can hook multiple fish at once and is probably why he won. i've had a day or two when i slayed the smallies with a banjo minnow. i guess anything will work at one point or another -
but it's no fun until you hit 3 digits on the speedo

i'm still chuckling at these silly thing's. they're just another example of a lure that catches more fishermen than fish -
visit tirerack . com shop for tires by brand, size, rating, price, etc or use their "survey results" link on the left of the homepage select the tire you want have the tires delivered to a preferred installer in the US drive down and have them installed cheaper than here drive home with a big smile knowing you saved a huge chunk of cash we're making the trip in two weeks for pirelli tires and 4 monroe quick struts for the car. we'll be getting everything for $100 LESS than what the struts alone would cost at canadian tire. i'm all for supporting our country, but that's complete Bull.

i think they meant the cabins pressure was equivalent to X number of feet while he was at 128k and equalizing the pressure. of course, i could be totally wrong

my dad landed a 120 pounder up there about 20 years ago and made the paper

i was using 12 lb power pro with a 8 lb mono leader, but i think i need to grab some flouro for a leader as i still haven't connected with a bow. at first i thought i snagged a stick that i could barely move with the light line, but the fish woke up as soon as it surfaced. i'd say it took 7-8 minutes to get it into the shallows where i ran over and tailed it as soon as i could. like i said, i just wanted to get it beached as soon as possible.
-
LOL...good times eh we'll have to get together for sure. i figured it wouldn't be a good idea to try eating the fish that he killed, but it just seemed like such a waste watching them float by. oh well, i'm sure something enjoyed the free meals.

i hit a lake erie trib yesterday for a few hours drifting roe and hooked into something decent. it didn't take long to see what was on the other end of the line and when i realized what it was i put the pressure on to get it beached and released. the fish was out of the water for literally 5 seconds as i got lucky and it decided to stay calm for that part. i used my rod to measure the fish (when it was in the water) then measured the rod when i got home and it worked out to 45-48". i still can't believe how strong a 4 ft fish could be.

i need my grandmother to read this site to put and end to the slices of turkey flavored sawdust that's barely edible with a gallon of gravy. she must cook those suckers til the internal temp of the bird is 250 before slicing the breasts an hour before dinner time to make sure every last drop of moisture is sucked out of the meat.
-
yes, but walleye are more common than pike in the brantford area from my experience. i saw a 2 footer sunning in some slack water amongst some suckers yesterday
-
having grown up 2 blocks from the grand in brantford, this is the best advice you can take. you'll need to work harder to find them when the water is so low and clear, but the reward after finding them is worth it.

i hit the grand river yesterday and landed a dozen trophy chubs between 6-10" in 15 minutes. an unlimited supply of fresh, fun, and practically free bait

in situations where you need to shoot very quickly and unexpectedly such as when hunting rabbit, grouse, driving deer, or jump shooting waterfowl, walking around with an empty chamber isn't really practical as the animal will be gone in 1 second. only tom knapp could put one in the chamber and get a couple shots off quick enough but, the majority of hunting situations will permit an empty chamber while walking around without hindering your chances of taking home dinner. that said, i keep one in the chamber whenever possible as proper muzzle control is the best method to avoid accidents. sinclair, we're talking about hunting arms so they're referred to as firearms, not weapons. someone would actually give up hunting with a buddy because he walks around with a loaded gun? i could understand if he was muzzle sweeping you or doing something that's actually unsafe, but simply because he carries a loaded gun? seriously?

thanks for the tips. it's hard learning the game when i don't have anyone to physically show me prime water and proper technique to fish it. therefore, i could be making critical errors without even knowing. on the other hand i could be using the right techniques, but applying them to the wrong water or i could just be fishing at bad times. as with any other fishing, i know that changing thing's up to find what's working is important. the problem here is nothing has been working for me so far and the only success i've had is honing my casting skills around the lumber.

time for some questions from a noob... is there really a significant difference in numbers of fish caught on winged vs non winged shot? are steelhead really that fussy? how much does winged shot effect the way your bait drifts? same size weights from top to bottom? i need to get dialed in. 4 outings with zero fish sucks

wouldnt it save more time in the long run to simply attach a grease gun to the bearing buddy nipples once a year rather than climbing all over the trailer to launch/load your boat? it takes 7 seconds per side to grease it? different strokes for different folks i guess
