  1. I just talked to the guys at Green Road Cottages on Callander Bay. He said Callander Bay only has 2 inches of ice and does not recommend anyone to go out yet....SORRY about the report...Give it one more week.
  2. Hey guys....Hold off on your trip for a bit yet ...I will try and find out about Callander Bay and conditions. I dont think its safe to go yet..I will post later this evening.
  3. Stay away from the Wasi outlet if you come up..The water flow is still high. And be careful. The Bay was still open in spots 2 days ago.
  4. No trees to block the sun to the solar panel either.
  5. I was just out on a test drive and drove over the bridge that crosses the South River at Powassan. The South River drains into Nipissing. There is still a large amount of water flow. So dont forget guys there will still be this flow at other areas as well. So PLEASE be doggone careful!!!!!!This creates currents in many lakes and will keep ice from forming in certain spots.
  6. Make my jerky in a Little Chief smoker. So far just used the recipes that came with it with a few minor changes. Works ok so far. I may need a little help with smoking Walleye though, always gets too dried out.
  7. Thanks Irish...Sorry to get off topic...Was neat to see.
  8. Was it in a Spitfire? Pilot ok? I was at Wright -Patterson aircraft museum 4 or 5 years ago.Seen some cutaway engines down there--Incredible engineering for the time period. Especially the supercharged versions.
  9. OUCH!! hope it wasnt in the air at the time
  10. entropy...there are a lot of aftermarket air filters makers out there. My suggestion is to get a quality filter. I think your model has a mass air flow sensor. (I dont know if you have the 1.6 or 2.0 engine) .There are technical service bulletins out for a lot of manufacturers that state do not use aftermarket filters that contain oil in the filter. (K&N as an example) These can contaminate the sensor and cause a buildup of debris on the hotwire. This will give the ECU(computer) false airflow readings and reduce fuel economy. This is true-seen it for for myself.
  11. The 2000 Tracker is not a bad vehicle..Mostly Suzuki engineering.
  12. Out of curiosity Dan, did you look at the Honda Ridgeline? I haven't researched them for towing capacity but you would think it should be capable of a good sized boat. The back end should be lockable for your rods and stuff. Once you have a pickup its hard to live without them.
  13. Hi Dan... Being a Leafs fan it was easy for me to come up with that one.
  14. Pretty soon.. A few of my fishing buds and I will set up in my shop and assembly line jig mold. One guy starts setting hooks in moulds, next guy pours and casts, next guys powder paint. We usually make a couple hundred in an evening...enough to last us all the summer. Of course a few get given away. The worst job is each man for himself to tie trailing hooks on.
  15. Hi Thud...I wasn't questioning the way they are put together what is questioned is the engineering and quality of material. Kudos go out to the guys on the line. I once worked for Ford. I know how a lot of it goes. In the last month we had two domestic 2003 vehicles in here with rusted out brake lines. Ball joints and tie rod ends on some even newer with less than 40k on them. What can I say? My customers ask me..What should I buy? Japanese does excel. I have to tell them how I feel. My peers will agree. In my line of business I prefer working on domestic cars. Parts availability and prices, information on servicing and so forth makes them easier to repair but necessary to repair more often. How do I feel when a young familys car needs a new front wheel bearing on their 3 year old but out of warranty vehicle that they have another 2 or 3 years to pay on? I feel like rolling my toolbox into the creek and go back to driving truck. But I refuse to stick my head in the sand. I will help them the best I can. Thats enough ...my rant ..no more from me on this.
  16. Also the other end of the lake is Promised Land Camp,Tom Rae Lodge,Sunset Cove,Sunlit Bay, Waltonian Inn and a host of others. If you decide to stay at the south shore side give me a pm and I will assist if you like.
  17. Stressed fishing? never! Just to be out on the water is instant relax. Its why I do it. After a hectic day there is nothing better. If I dont catch here I try there. Its part of the challenge. Where are they, what is the water temperature, which way is the wind blowing, what is hatching/spawning? Wow I love it....
  18. Buying a GM car right now is like being a Maple Leafs fan. The product is there and its not very good. People keep going to the games but why? Ps..I dont like the way it is. I know we should support local business. I want domestic product to do well. I just wish they would pull up their socks and get it done!
  19. The torrent is actually an chevrolet equinox not an aztec..The aztec was a better vehicle. I work on this stuff every day guys. I was raised on chevys.Would really like for them to be #1 vehicle but I cant recommend much Gm stuff anymore. Hate to have to say it. Read consumer reports. From what I have seen lately the hype about better quality is so far smoke and mirrors. Ford and Chryco(or Daimler) pretty much the same thing. Sad commentary-wish it wasnt true ps..By the way..Did you know that the only car in NASCAR built in the continental USA next year will be the Toyota Camry.
  20. If it isn't any better than the rest of the product gm has been putting out be real careful. www.usatoday.com/money/autos/reviews/healey/2006-02-16-drive-torrent-usat_x.htm
  21. Its been my experience and talking to others an 18ft wouldn't be large enough. Especially for possible rough water. A boat that size might be ok for small lakes or protected areas. Would 20 minutes give you enough time to get to cover in a fast moving storm? They tend not to travel as fast a regular craft. Look closely at the design of the pontoons. Diameter will greatly affect the floatation. How thick is the aluminum? Compare brands as well. Often you get what you pay for. 4 stroke power seems to work best on these.
  22. Hey Rich ..looks like you guys had some fun-- along with a belly full of fish....Im jealous...
  23. Since I joined this forum almost a month ago, everyday it seems I am impressed with the talent and knowledge that appears here. To track and photograph these beautiful birds is no easy task. Very good Ron.
  24. Well spoken sikkudog
  25. Great stuff ...Congrats!! Good pics!! Wish there were more Walleye that size in Nipissing.
