I would like to be fishing on the reef where I normally do in late July/early August fishing walleye and see the world record muskie jump up for the third consecutive year. (well he/she sure is a big one anyway )

O man it isnt looking good....Not only cant fish but I have to move a boathouse from one island to mine..I need at least a foot or more of good blue....As long as we dont get a lot of snow before it turns cold might be ok for February....This isnt good for all of us in this area...The outfitters, snowmobile dealers and repair centers,motels/hotels, gasoline retailers etc....will make it tough for lots of people who depend on winter.

2 to 1 odds. On what lake? Safe to walk on or to snowmobile to?...Details please ps...I hope you are right

I was rooting through some pics from just a few years back. Early 80's I think. Note how many shacks there were. I wish we had this much ice now

Hi Nautifish..Looks like you all had a pretty good time last night. I asked earlier today where this occasion happened. The reply I seen was the firehall. We have a firehall in my town too.. ..I will guess somewhere in the vicinity of Toronto? Keep up the fun...

Been fixing cars for a long time..It has been my experience that some types of undercoating can be worse than not applying. Some types will get dry and harden and will seal moisture between it and the body surface. However the undercoating that stays thin like krown does is definitly/positively well worth the yearly application. last week we had a 03 chev pickup in to replace rusted out brake lines to the rear. Incredible!. This would have been prevented with krown or rust check. By the way-I dont undercoat in my shop---Way too messy. By the way--Those electronic devices do work .

Everyone from all walks of life.. fishing is the great equalizer. I have been an automotive Mechanic/tech for the last 23 years. For the last 13 have owned operated my 3 bay shop along with my brother who looks after the toy department( Boats, motors, atv, skidoos etc.) on the other side of the building. We get along just fine and we have 14 employees and still growing. Would not want to be anywhere else.

Hi Lew..The peterboro boat lines were beautiful. The ribs nicely rounded off and well finished. But I think it also increased their production costs at a time when aluminum and glass boats were becoming popular. Its really too bad. The boat shop still gets these in for repairs. I think they are the only ones around that still do extensive repair on these old craft. You should see some of the old stuff they get in for repair. Some are from the early 1900s. They do have a web site for those who may be interested. www.gieslerboats.ca/

Yep..probably hundreds if I looked hard. I will see what I come up with...Its a long winter.

Thanks TJ....Hope to see you down at the French next summer. I will check to see it is ok to post more pics

hi fishindevil. Im not real sure what they ask for the boats. It depends on how you want it built(deck size, with or with out well etc) but they are surprisingly inexpensive. Very low overhead and manufacturing costs make them very reasonable. If you are ever in the area you should stop in and check out the factory. Its like going back in time 60 years.

Never felt guilty about bringing a fish home to eat. Never waste a fish. Never caught over my limit. Only fish when I need some. Never over limit in the freezer.

Have to agree with Lew on the Crestliner. Seen a lot of aluminum boats over the years and most that have owned and used a Crestliner really like them. But keep your options open. There are lots of different makes and models made for a reason. Think carefully what it will be used for most of the time. Keep in mind larger boats are also more to look after. Storage and maintainence are things that people seem to forget about when purchasing a new watercraft.Just a couple things to keep in mind. Happy boat hunting!

Just for interests sake an 05 Grand Cherokee with a 4.7 presently has 44 Technical service Bulletins from Chrysler. Its about average for domestic vehicles. Quality imports have substantially less on average. Its unfortunate its this way but from what I see the domestics may be improving a little. There are no TSBs on the actual engine.

Hello everyone. Glad you enjoyed the pics. My Grandfather started building in the late 20s a boat for himself to fish in. His buddy wanted one too. So he built another one. His buddy had an outboard motor that had broken. So he traded the boat for the broken outboard. He fixed the motor. More people came along and wanted a boat. And so it started. My father and his 3 brothers began working when they were teenagers. My dad started a service shop for the outboards back in 1972 and it snowballed into a thriving business as well. Lots of history that I could go on and on with but you are all probably bored by now. The deer antlers remain in the office by the way. And I do believe Lakair has some of the boats. B. Giesler & Sons is the original name of the company. I presently operate an automotive repair shop in our community. Take care.....Bernie G

Maybe Im just old school but I have a hard time understanding how or why anyone would want to dismantle or do harm to this forum. .Isnt it just a bunch of people who want to discuss fishing?

Hey thats cool Rick. Where in Powassan? I know most people in town.......So maybe I can boat over and join the fun next time? My cottage is on the other end in the South Bay.

How often do these occasions happen? And where?
-
Hey man...I think that was my bottle of rye!!!

They mostly build them for tourist outfitters and the build from canoes to 21 footers. We have a 18 footer that the bottom was fiberglassed and is as old as me. Im almost 50. Its been in the water every summer. We use it for trolling on Hunters Bay in Nipissing and hauling stuff to the cottage.
