Promisedland Camp is a very nice place. It is in sheltered Fish Bay and not far from the main lake. If the weather isnt cooperating you can still get out to fish around the islands. They look after the grounds very well and the cabins are clean and tidy.

Irish pretty much covered it at the starter end. A voltmeter to check polarity at terminals and continuity in the circuits will be handy/necessary here if it is in between solenoid and ignition. A wiring diagram to show circuits and wire colour is real handy too. If you need more on this PM me and I will see if I can locate a diagram for you. My first suspicion is a bad ignition switch.

I have my boathouse moved so winter can take a big hike anytime. Bring on blue water and green grass.

A wiring diagram would be handy. Like Wayne said,ignition switch etc. First check battery connections,a loose terminal may cause it. We dont handle the Yamaha line here so I dont know if they use a ground signal or a positive signal at the starter solenoid. Have to go right now..more on this later.

Hello Lew. When you do the job have some emery cloth to clean up the surface where the seal rides on the axle. A can of brake cleaner is helpful to clean up axle surfaces as well. Dont forget a couple of clean rags, a punch to knock out the old races and a brass or aluminum drift to install them.

Funny thread . Keep it up guys..... I work on vehicles for a living and see all types of trucks and cars. I grew up as a kid on GM stuff.All my dad ever used..As an apprentice started out in a Ford dealership(ironic). My point of view on pickups right now of the domestics is Ford is probably the best of them. They are not without their problems but my customers seem to be more satisfied compared to GM and Dodge. GM has been more problematic of them all. Check engine lights....geez GM get this fixed up..o2 sensors, fuel pumps,front end(steering/suspension) . Dodge? well where do I start? Ford -rear differential bearings and tie rod ends. No wonder people are going asian.Personally drive a 96 Ford 4x4 and has 250,000 k on it..Last of the old style truck..Been a gem of a truck. Bought it used 3 years ago-good deal. Was one of my customers truck. No one wanted to give him anything on a trade in. If it had of been a GM or a Dodge I likely would have bought it too. No brand loyalty here anymore. Kind of sad in a way. Keep on truckin' guys and gals.

I have done a little research on this for my cottage. We stay there for most of the summer months. Would love to get off the grid. Most people that I have talked to that have done this use a combination of wind, solar and some propane. Most have generators for backup. They have told me on sunny days there is usually less wind and cloudy days the wind generator gets the workout. Electric refrigerators are power hungry and most use propane. There are tons of information on internet sites to research your needs. Its still not cheap but it is improving. Let us know what you come up with.

About 15 years ago I made a floating dock. I cleaned and painted 2 fuel oil tanks. Put one at each end. The dock was 4 ft wide and to keep it steady I drove 4 steel pipes well into the mud. I then made brackets that attached to the dock with another piece of pipe larger diameter. These would slide over the driven in pipes. I welded nuts to the dock brackets so bolts could thread into tighten against the driven in pipes. This not only stabilized the dock but also could be adjusted to changing water levels. In the fall i tightened the bolts and the dock would stay high and dry when they let the water level drop in Nipissing. Worked out very well. Different areas and shoreline conditions will vary and there are many ways to build or purchase. Is the area your friend in difficult to keep a dock? Is ice and wind a problem in the spring? Could you make a dock with wheels on it. What about a permanent style dock?

Boy is that ever true. Several years ago my son had a spent 30.30 shell case in his pocket at school. He showed it to a classmate and a teacher spotted it. Well did that ever stir things up! I had phone calls from Principles to police. Unbelievable. My dad carried a .410 to school so he could hunt on the way home.

Glad to see you had a good trip Lew. Good pictures. Ottawa is a great city . Clean compared to others and for some reason easy to get around in. It seems to be on a slower pace. Been there many times. Ten years ago took my scout troop and did a tour of several places. We camped for the night at the aircraft museum(I bunked under a Hawker Hurricane). Lots of things to see and do and look forward to my next trip there.

Had a good chat last year in Bristol with Larry McReynolds and Bill Davis. We were fortunate to get skybox seats from one of our suppliers(Excide Batteries) and they stopped by. There were few people in the skybox that day due to the snow that happened that morning. Was really something for me to meet and have a one on one talk with Larry McReynolds. Always respected Mr. McReynolds for his talent. Really is a nice guy. Mr Davis seemed to be in a hurry that day so he didnt stick around as long. Likely had an issue with Michael Waltrip that day.

Get one that is easy to buy new tips and parts. If the feed cable gets bent it will need to be replaced. Bought one 13 years ago and it gets a good workout around our shop. With a little practice and patience it does well on aluminum too. Think it was around a grand back then. Worth every cent. Got it at a NAPA trade show.
