  1. .....Fantastic stuff guys, makes me wish I'd have dropped everything and joined yous. Oh and Gerritt did you ask Bernie if he'll be visiting Lakair?
  2. ....Okay then, I did leave the rod building at home for my last day of vacation and headed out to Erie for some silver bass action and it was not dissapointing. My buddy was onto a silver with his first cast! Over the course of the next four hours we caught numerous silvers and quite a few pesky OOS smallmouth (yes they were quickly released). In fact my buddy kept a even three dozen silvers for the dinner table. It didn't seem to matter what we threw they were all over it. I'm thinking I need to get the kids out there on the weekend as I'm sure they'll have no trouble connecting. The action was so fast I'm sorry to say I didn't snap a single picture but I know you'll beleive me inspite of any previous angling failures....LOL So if you like fast action fishing and a few silvers for the dinner table I'd suggest you head to your favourite Erie haunts as they seemed to be everywhere. Good Luck.
  3. ....Thanks everyone. I must say it's easy to be proud when you're part of a community such as OFC and to have friends that are so generous.
  4. ....Good stuff Roy. Glad to see you getting your angling fix in before Lakair....*wink, wink*
  5. ....Now that looks fantastic Dan, Lord knows you needed one.
  6. ....Just hooked up the boat and now waiting for a buddy to show and we're of to Lake Erie. With any luck I'll have a report when I get back. The target for the afternoon is silver bass but I'd settle for just about anything. It's been to long since I last fished and admittedly I'll be happy just getting the boat wet. Have a great day everyone.
  7. ....Well I guess Chuck has healed of pretty darn good if he's ready to ride around in a boat. ....I suppose if it was me Shelley I'd opt for the Princecraft but the Legend would be okay if you maxed up the horsepower. I'm wondering though if you are going to primarily fish Simcoe if you'd not be better off looking at something a little bigger? Praps in the 18-19 foot range (wider beam), after all Chuck's a pretty big guy.
  8. ....Those are some real dandies for anywhere in the province. Reminds me very much of the ones I stalk close to home here in Hamilton. Well done, enjoy your meal.
  9. ....I have a few Coleman items that run on Coleman fuel (naptha gas) and they're pretty darn reliabe in all weather. If taken care of there's no need to worry, I've seen Coleman laterns and stoves older than I that still perform wonderfully. Depending on age it may need a few replacement parts readily available at most CTC stores. Have to admit though niether I nor anyone I no has tried using unleaded fuel, no need to really with the availability of naptha fuel.
  10. ....Typical, I invent it and someone always steals the limelight....LOL
  11. ....Well as most of you may recall we had a announcement back in February titled A Summer to Remember to which we would make this summer a special one for Speedtroll's (Rob) son Chris. I promised to build a rod for Chris and I have but I also built one for his daughter Nicole as I felt she was also deserving of having something special to share in the joy while on those family fishing trips. Now I was prepared to do this on my own accord but as it turns out my good friend Lorne Greene owner of Loomis Canada donated me the materials for Chris' rod and our very own board member Skiel offered and sent me a cheque covering the material costs for the second rod. A tip of my hat and my sincerest thanks to these two gentlemen for the extreme generousity. So for me it was just finding time to assemble them and I finally have them both completed. In fact Rob was hoping to come by today with his kids to receive the rods but unfortunately it'll have to wait for another day. So here's a few pictures of the rods Chris and Nicole will be using this summer. They are identical with the exception of color, graphite grey for Chris and candy apple red for Nicole and signed with ther respective names. The rods are Frontier 6.5ft rated for 8-15lb test line and should do well for walleye, bass and pike or anything else they may encounter short of musky and salmon.

  22. ...Actually I'm currently in Hamilton and if I had my way there would be no hockey threads on the board. I find moderating them as exciting as watching the game....yawn
