  1. ....I've changed a couple. In both instances I was doing lower end maintanence and decided to inspect the impeller while I had them all apart, and in both cases the impeller was cracked and showing signs of imminent failure. I'm not sure how old the impellers were or what is the expected life span but if you're working on the lower unit I'd take the time to change it. If not and it's been working fine then by all means leave her in.
  2. ....While I have a number of steelhead rods in various lengths if I'm choosing one for tossing hardware it's my 9 1/2 footer I go to every time. Something rated for 6 to 10lb test is ideal.
  3. ....Have a great day out there guys and gals. I'd loved to have been out there with you all but unfortunately I' will be stuck at work.
  4. ....It's a great day to go to work, tell me it is, "a great day to go to work."
  5. ....Kudos, accolades, etc....
  6. ....Well I know exactly where I ought to be this morning and it's not here in front of the puter. Nice job Solo....

  10. ....Very impressive Pete and undoubtedly well deserved. Congratulations
  11. ....A couple of interesting choices Moosebunk not many would have chosen these, the exception being me of course. Mind if I tag along. We will being using flyrods, right?
  12. "4 hours down... 4 hours back.." ....Sheeeesh, I hope you submitted your fuel expenses to the boss for reimbursement? Tis good though to see you all had a great day.
  13. .....Looks like a good time for all. So will I need pay for view or satellite to see this new show?
  14. .....Well hell one is better than none, this I know for sure! Good going Charmaine!
  15. .....Well well, another happy (new) boat owner. Congratulations Mo, looks like a nice sturdy rig. Kudos to Art for going out of his to deliver it to you.
  16. ....Ah the maiden voyage, sounds so very familiar. Glad to see you both out enjoying your toy, congrats again.
  17. ....I know you're hanging round the puter when you ought to be looking after Liam so I thought I'd give you a little peak.
  18. ....Oh I see, another one of those guys with two boats.
  19. ....LOL, ya I've noticed that, not sure how it happened.
  20. ....Don't think I'd get into the habit of cleaning up my rod (custom built or not) with acetone Milty it is a solvent after all. Best suggestion is not to get roe goo on it at all (remove bait before setting in hook keeper) but if you do, warm water, soap and some gentle (persistent) scrubbing. If it's really bad trying wrapping a wet soapy cloth over it and let it soften. ....Ah no, sorry Glen.
  21. ....Classic Roy, had me laughing. Hope you had a great day Mike.
  22. ....Hobknobbing with the big names eh Brian, who'd a thunk....lol, and you even bested some of them. Lots of zeros on that tally list, must have been a tough one!
  23. ....Why is it that photos never really seem to do wave hieghts justice? Though you can definitely tell in the video clip that the bow of that big Lund is bouncing quite a bit. Good job on the musky, I'm sure it'll only be a matter of time before you find yourself connected to a leviathan. Now what boat have you installed that Motorguide on Terry? And Wayne being the generous guy that you are, if I was to buy a prop off you would you be able to install a boat and motor on it.
  24. ....I honestly can't remember the last time I froze fish. Reason being I just prefer them fresh and if that means eating fish a couple of nights in a row then I do. And to be honest I'm lucky enough to have kids that love fresh fish and don't complain if I'm lucky enough to catch a few meals worth. But that of course does not answer your question. So if I have to freeze them then I freeze them in water (I used filterd water, no chlorine). With softer fleshed fish (ie: whitefish) I found that soaking them in a weak brine solution for several hours then freezing them in the brine gave me a much firmer and tastier fish when thawed. It's lso a good idea to allow them to thaw slowly in the fridge rather than at room temperature.
  25. ....Ah the closing the cottage report, always wish I had a cottage to close up. It'd be the kind of working weekend I'd enjoy with some reflection of the season past and dreams of seasons yet to come. I'm surprised though that Paul wasn't with you.
