  1. ....Hey now that's pretty cool Dan, well done. You know that most here have told you that you have a great eye for photography and lucky for us here we often get to see it before anyone else. You deserve the accolades no doubt about it.
  2. ....Thanks for the heads up Ted. Care to lend me some money?
  3. ....Nice work indeed Cliff. I've always been partial to a well tied chevron and that one fits the bill.
  4. Some more nasty weather coming Thursday and Friday, Be careful out there!
  5. ....I have friends that fished it a number of times in the 70's and 80's Marty. Always had a great time and always caught lots of fish. Mostly walleye in the tasty eating size.
  6. ....*pores over members list for looking for someone named DT10Sam* Alright I concede, seems he's been an outstanding member and huge contributor to OFC past and present. NIce fish Sam.
  7. ....Nice to see you had a great weekend Lew. My kids have been to Ottawa but not I. It would seem to be one of those things I need to put on my "to do" list.
  8. ....The problems with these types of threads (potential lawsuits aside) is that many become defensive and others offensive. That makes it all a moot point. No winners no losers just a lot of hearsay and argumentive thoughts pro and con. What's been done has been settled in the courts many years ago. Time to move on.
  9. ....I was there, but I had to leave....
  10. ....It's a beauty for sure. But I'm surprised at those that think it's unusual for Simcoe? That size is not as rare as you might think.
  11. ....Perhaps the lack of responses is due to some actually being out fishing and others stuck in the work shop all day buildng rods.
  12. ....I've perused all of the reports (I think?) and I'm glad to see things went well and everyone had a good time. I feel bad sleeping the day away in my warm bed, but hey nightshifts will do that to you.
  13. ....Actually I've noticed an increasing number of anglers hooking big carp in the Cook Bay area over the last few years. I've been told by guys with underwater cameras that they see large schools of them swimming around. I even know a few guys (myself included) who've hooked up with them on light perch tackle and have had a tough time getting them in. Others frequently lose them and are quick to assume that it had to be a pike or a trout or whitey or whatever but me thinks a lot of big carp are being lost do to inefficient tackle.
  14. ....Sweet deal there guys but I'm not surprised. Good things tend to happen to good people, you know what I'm talking 'bout.
  15. .....I can't believe that after five years of searching for relatives he only managed to find you. Must be that rare and very uncommon sir name....lol
  16. .....Loads of great advice here Carl, I'll second Trapshooters advice on a reel with the "flipping switch".
  17. ....I can certainly understand your frustrations Lew but fortunately Sheri's injuries will heal in time. It's truly sad though that she has to go through this because of the inconsiderate actions of another!
  18. .....Have a look at these as well. I've been using a few of the origional models for a number of years now with no complaints. I'm also finding that these are of top quality without the high expense. I'd be looking at either the "JR 783 X-Series Length 6'6" Pieces 2" or the "SJR 843 X-Series Length 7’ Pieces 2" for the uses you mentioned. As for "level wind" it's a catch all term for "baitcasters, trolling reels, flipping reels, casting reels" and the like. I typically prefer these types of reels for trolling applications.
  19. ....Would you be using a spinning reel or a level wind? In most cases for trolling I go with a level wind. I also presume you'd be wanting a 2 piece?
  20. ....Thanks Muskieb, but as has been mentioned "cabin fever" does happen. The entire Admin team all work hard at keeping things flowing. Hope you stick around and enjoy the board.
  21. ....Praps later, right now I have to go put the winding finish on a rod.
  22. ....For me it would depend on how big they are. If they are pan fryers by all means skin on, golden brown an delicious. But once they start to get over a couple of pounds I prefer them fileted and skinned, same for any trout actually.
  23. ....Love the auto rig, been thinking about the possible effectivness of something like that for a long time. Your rig looks sweet not to mention that sink full of yummy perch.
