  1. Iceguidez Not sure if Don is still in the game but he'd be worth checking out.
  2. All my ice rods are custom built. Love 'em all.
  3. The huts I rented were always in 30 or so feet of water and we'd get the occasional Ling, mind you the Ling population in Simcoe is not what it used to be. On occasion I have taken the odd one in as little as 10 FOW at night.
  4. Yep, used to get them as well at night on Simcoe, don't think I've ever caught one there in the day.
  5. In the late 70's and early 80's I used to fish exclusively at night on Simcoe. Always managed to to leave the ice with a mess of perch, herring, a limit of whities and occasionally a trout or two, so yes thay are active at night but it comes in waves with long periods of boredom inbetween. Also note all these fish were taken in the same area in depth of 30'.
  6. Well I've never seen it and I thought it was pretty cool and quite funny. But seriously Rick, "northern Ontario," come on.
  7. Oh I agree John, it would definitely seem to be a losing battle and once all the local manufacturing jobs are gone where else can you afford to shop? For my part I will never set foot in a Walmart store. I will ask however (rhetorically) what % of their inventory is American made?
  8. That's just too funny Brian. For the last week or more I've been sending my daughter at University a "song for the day," just to keep in touch with her. Yesterday it was a Neil Diamond tune, not because I'm a huge fan but because it reminds me of my father who liked Neil but unfortunately died a young man. I sent her this.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6FfjlxZLTk&feature=related Rose also happens to be her mother's name.
  9. Don't the Great Lakes flow to the Atlantic.....
  10. I've heard those types of mornings called many things Rob, but fresh is a new one. Glad to see you had a decent day out.
  11. Atta Boy. We'll likely just give our boat keys to someone else and we can share beer(s) instead of music.
  12. LOL....and I can't listen to anything Country for more than 2 secs, vile stuff. If we share a boat Roy we'll leave the tunes on shore.
  13. Yes, it was Crappiesteve. He's been working as a guide up there for a few years now.
  14. Envelope is already addressed and stamped.
  15. That's too cold, hell my beer would freeze. But you go right ahead and have a great day Simon!
  16. Hot damn, it was bound to happen eventually. Checking to see what the current temperature is in Hell.....
  17. I'm still waiting for a button that turns everything in cap locks to dust.....
  18. LOL, run backwards Joe, my ass would be the first thing I protect.
  19. Identify them....no. But in a dark alley I'd think they'd be the scared ones, look like a bunch of sissies.
  20. The biggest lakers I've ever caught all came through the ice on Simcoe, jigging spoons on a hand line that contained less than 200' of mono, heavy line mind you, no mercy once hooked. Oh the good ole days.
  21. We edit them, someone craps on us! We lock them, someone craps on us! We delete them, someone craps on us! We leave them and guess what, someone craps on us!
