The reels you saw on ebay are prone to have the line stuck behind the spool according to what owners say on other forums. They aren't much better than what you presently have. If you feel strongly about buying it then go for it.
Home schooling might be your solution. Teachers today are not permitted to give deadlines for projects so is it any wonder that students fall behind. Have no fear the pendulum will swing back some day.
110 is about half price which is good. I've never handled one or fished with anyone that used one. From a picture of the reel the handle placement is too close to the rim for my liking. Best of luck!
x2 as Bill and Mike said it is up to the moderators when a thread is locked. It might be getting nasty or going in circles and if we don't agree we don't have to visit.
Not flossing at all, the intent is to catch fish without hooking them deeply so they may be released without harm. I have yet to catch a fish on a bead with the hook outside of the mouth, but I can see it happening. Now that I've said this I'll likely start catching them with the hook outside the mouth and have to continue to release them for a different reason.
Going with other steelheaders , as Mike B said, will help by watching how they apply drag to their reel. As said earlier there are many methods, I apply drag with my 2nd finger directly on the spool .
there is an angler selling a complete set rod , reel , floats ,beads, pink worms ,for 180. He is located in Pickering. more info and pictures at www.floatfishing.net in the classified section for float reels.
The first reel I bought had floating fly line as backing and didn't cause me any problems, but I think the dacron may be lighter and more readily available.
We are all too trusting, but now at least you know that to deter thieves doors must be locked. I grew up in a smaller town and we never locked up anything however my friends, that still live there, now lock up everything.
