  1. I've been out a couple times in the last couple weeks, and I find every year around this time... at least my usual spots... that shore fishing this time of year yields very little success. At one river location, I usually catch largies... I'm guessing most of them have journeyed out to the lake for the winter? I usually fish rivers if I'm stuck on shore, is there anything I should look for in order to find success? Changes in lures? Or do I need to have a boat and head out on a lake?
  2. Awesome video man, I always enjoy your videos. Dave seemed pretty chill.
  3. Fished both Mitchell and Canal last year... On Mitchell we caught some pike and some good sized bass. Canal... All that was biting was perch. Doesn't mean there isn't pike in there though.
  4. My brother, a few of his friends and myself will be up in the Westport area for some pike and walleye fishing this weekend. Any tips for catching walleye and pike at this time of year? Certain depths or lure selections that I should consider? If you are familiar with the area and wish to know the name of the lake, shoot me a pm. Having a sort of fishing competition between the group of us, and haven't ever fished out that a ways. It does look like a very interesting lake with many islands and rock piles, shallow bays and narrows. Thanks for any help fellas.
  5. I'm surprised it spawned at all... Drinkin' all that whiskey n all...
  6. Spotties?? Another slang for Largemouths?
  7. It may not be the biggest fish out there, but it sure is pretty
  8. Hahaha, damn those fillet knives that are sticking up in the stream. They get me every time.
  9. Yeah, I full-screened it and paused when it was broadside to the camera... Definitely looks like a bluegill, got that nice dark spot on the gill plates.
  10. Ahahah, that was awesome. But I can't help it, I'm pretty sure that's a pumpkinseed... not a bass.
  11. Yeah definitely, I wasn't just calling out the Russians... I just noticed most who were fishing that creek... not the saugeen... were mostly Russians. That looked like it happened quite recently.
  12. She was a good 24 inches or so... Beauty fish. Poor thing had the misfortune to be caught by the wrong person. All along the river there were tons of Russians fishing, elbow-to-elbow style, saw a few wheeling carts back with a couple big dirty chinnys in them... why anyone would want to take home a chinny from the river is beyond me... I would have taken the rest of the roe, cept I didn't see it until I looked at the photo.
  13. Waste of a nice brown in my opinion.
  14. I was hiking along a creek, and found this... I believe those eggs laying on the bottom below the belly, which I didn't see until I looked at the picture. If you're going to do this, which I do not promote, at least take the roe.
  15. I found pigeon lake to be strange this year... at least during the summer anyways. All my usual goto spots were nearly abandoned... I had to change up techniques... to the simplest of them all. Worm near bottom just off of rocky shorelines or rocky drop offs, caught a few pickerel and many smallies like that.,
  16. Thanks guys, I've picked out a few locations in which I plan to check out once my days off come around. Hopefully all goes well, and maybe I'll find one.
  17. Oooo nice laker! Beautiful area to boot. Welcome aboard and make yourself at home. Your report has reminded me that I must get up to Algonquin for some prime fishin.
  18. I am interested in attempting to catch my first brook trout. I hear there are lakes harbouring them, and I hear they hang out in headwaters of Lake O tribs. But from what I understand, they get to be a much better size in the lakes. Either way, I don't really know where to start looking. I live in the durham region, and have tried some of the headwaters of some tribs... only to find chub and once in a while a resident rainbow. I've heard flies, spinners and spoons work well for them. Any recommendations of where I should begin my hunt? I'm not asking for spots in particular, unless you are willing to give up a lake name lol... but more of general area. Anything remotely close to the durham region? Thanks in advance for any hints that you may or may not send my way.

  20. I found a little river, with some beautiful scenery and lots of smallies. And I mean lots. I caught loads of em, most of them weighing just under a pound. But there were some nicer ones in the mix.
  21. I haven't done so with a trout, but I have with other fish. Tasted fine to me. I'm still alive. All is well.
  22. Awesome photos, and some real nice fish to boot. That's a cool variety, was that all in one spot? Show the big C who's boss and kick its arse man! Hopefully things go well.
  23. As one who doesn't know a lot about Salmon fishing... especially in the creeks and rivers... Do they tend to run up the same creeks as the trout? And tend to run as far up stream? I'm going to give it a shot this year, and was just wondering about that. I know that after September 30th, I'd have to stay below Hwy 2. in my region.
  24. Yesterday was a beauty day to spend a day out fishing. 5:30am start, and the first fish in the boat was shortly after 6. All in all 16 fish landed, 19 missed/lost, making a total of 35 bites... holy hell! I wish every day of fishing was that eventful. Thanks to Lloyd for an excellent day of Salmon/Trout angling. If anyone is looking for a charter, give him a shout. Solid guy who knows how to find the fish. Here are some pictures for you to enjoy. And now for the big catch of the day, my younger brother's 20lb Chinook.
