  1. I normally use 12lb Suffix Camo mono ($9.99 at BPS) for non-snaggy area, eg zerba mussels. But for port dover, dams and spots in Hammy, I tend to use 20lb Suffix camo mono ($10.49). I do use braid for very weedy areas in Bradford, it rips through nicely when fighting a carp. But when using mono or braid, I prefer to use 30" of fox 45lb leadcore leader. Float fishing for carp, 6Lb Suffix green. Hope this helps. To answer the question MONO all the way.
  2. Keep line on the spool? Use the right equipment for the fish your after, The right size reel, with the right diam. line that gives you a good amount of line capacity. If you are going pier fishing for salmon, I wouldn't bring an ultra light reel with 40yrds of 50lb PP, this is the reason people get spooled.
  3. I love Power Pro. BUT, depends for what? Rivers & topwater I second mono. For all else I use power pro.
  4. danbo has the right idea its a great combo
  5. I use a Middy degorger from the UK that works great for my macth fishing and carp fishing. $3. I think this new type would only work well while fly fishing. Just My 2c
  6. Daiwa tierra 2500, great reel, I use it with 6lb for match/float fishing for carp. 18lber on that reel, and never gives me a problem.
  7. Didn't buy one but I made one with a piece of coat handger and rubber tubing. I also made that auto hook setter rod holder that Cabelas sells. Do you remeber the auto hook setter tip up that bass pro sells for ice fishing, made one. As you can see all these gimics can be made with house hold items. Back on topic, my version of the tail dancer works as good, if not better than the original. Yes, it actually works but when you set the hook, you got to quickly remove the line from the gizmo, or else you will get crazy line tangles. oh, ya, only works with spinning reels, but not spincast or bait casters.
  8. Nice fish!! The release pic is awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. JB's is on my list, get everything there. Thanks for the links. I am also going to get some customs. Thanks again
  10. I want to buy a set of new muskie baits for trolling and casting, mine are a little beat up and out dated. What would you recomend? Price is not an issue. Thanx in advance Daniel
  11. If it's your first baitcaster and you want it to last forever, GO DAIWA!! If you don't want to spend $140, there is a really good, user friendly Daiwa reel for $109 at Lebaron, The Tierra, smooth, light, easy to cast, but it doesn`t come close to the Advantage super tuned. You will own your daiwas forever.
  12. Had them on my old boar for 4 years, they are worth the money.
  13. The Daiwa Tierra 2500 or 3000, I have 4 of the 2500 for match fishing carp and love them. Very light, well built, and small. The best part it's a Daiwa!! Daniel
  14. 80Lb flouro. The reason these guys us the stuff, is because they don't go for 24" pike/musky. The 80lb protects against bite offs and as a shock leader while throwing 3-7oz baits. Oh ya, ask a pike/musky person how much one bait costs, 80lb also protects thier investment. For small pike 24" - 30" I use a 30lb seagur flouro leader. When I go for the big boys with a $50+ bait, I do use 80lb flouro. Hope this corrects the confusion. Daniel
  15. Brian and Steve rule. They have products you can't find in Ontario. Great curtious service. I bet if you would have talked to them they would have helped you out. They have been great to me since they opened. I bought the Daiwa advantage super tuned and he helped me out 150%. JB rules, Just my 2c. Daniel OCH
  16. Thats what you get when when you chum with hundreds of pounds of filler boilies a day. Wicked carp though!!!
  17. The question is what local store, name?
  18. Wind knots, happens alot with braid. Also flip the bail manually, helps alot
  19. A-G-R-E-E 100%
  20. Browning head lamp. Lebaron $8 and change
  21. The kit at Bass pro is $5.99 included ring and slider tube, don't remember what the extra rings cost, or got to ebay for the exra rings, dime a dozen. The ones at ctc have a funky rubber smell to them, and they don't fit right. Hope this helps, Daniel OCH
