Here's a shot Dan can appreciate, not spectacular, but awesome to fellow NASCAR fans. Hope you have a great time, Dan, and bring back some pics.

Great shot Brandon. I too see opportunities for pics many times, just can't always stop to capture it. You sure did with that pic.

Bly's Second Salmon - New Personal Best...monster!!!
Deano replied to ccmtcanada's topic in General Discussion
Great going guys, that's an awesome Salmon. As for the weight, I know when the Salmon start having that jaw they are not eating as much and losing weight, that may explain the lower weight. When I caught my 24lber downrigging, he was only 36" long. -
Thought this turned out neat, Between the clouds, tree colors, building and water makes for a full image.

Is anybody planning on making money from the at-par loonie?
Deano replied to Dutch's topic in General Discussion
You would have better luck with the euro. It's not so much that the Canadian dollar is up, it's the american dollar that is down. Just as Al Quida help the collapse of russia, they are doing the same to the USA. Through high oil prices, money is all going to Arab countries. And with China and Russia help, we may be seeing another collapse. -
When you snap the picture, it only becomes well known after you die. LOL Seeing the beauty around us is all it really takes, The picture I posted yesterday of the bench at the beach is just down the road from here, yet when my wife and son saw the picture, they were blown away at the fact that it turned out so nice, they would of never thought that a picture there could be/would be so nice. Every moment in life can be impressionist art, just it's not usually captured, most are way to busy or don't appreciate it, brings to mine the saying "stop and smell the flowers".

Took this today, fall is in bloom now and the colors out there are beautiful, well up in the north here anyways. Great time to get out and get photos. These are the web quality, the originals are almost 4mb.

Dan, you'll be able to try HDR from pics at NASCAR. Looking forward to seeing some of them. Have fun, hopefully it goes much better than the Michigan race. LOL.
-
Went out this morning, foggy out, and took some pics for HDR. Took a bunch of pics and some worked well with HDR. I'm finding rocks really show up nicely as does bark in the foreground. The hard part is too figure out what looks the best, so many settings. This is one that I liked.

Those are cool Brandon, seems to work better when the pics are showing some distance, then you can get that feeling of depth.

Salmon in a canoe, that's called water skying. Great going Cliff. You must be sweet talking those salmon. LOL

Awesome shots Dan, love the mist on the water. Clouds and mist seem to really come out awesome with HDR. Was gonna go out also this morning, but didn't get my lazy butt up early enough. Tried it with a pic of my house but didn't turn out to great. Still need a key to get rid of the watermark.

Looking great. I think you've got it now.

Here's my attempt, it has the watermark in it though.

I think Jr can drive and believe Hendricks knows it also, otherwise he wouldn't bring him to his winning team. We will know by this time next year for sure. As for the colors, not sure if I really like them yet. Have a good time in Kansas Dan.

Great results, looks like you can let it get even darker, and then slow down shutter speed even more. But you're well on your way.

so with that software, you can make a photo have a clear close image and a clear background. That would be neat especially when your adding yourself in a beautiful scenery pic. Pretty neat stuff. I guess not, tried it a bit, not doing what I was thinking, Still pretty neat though.

it doesn't seem to surprise me, almost every time we here of something awful, the guy/girl has had numerous convictions. Why hasn't a judge done something sooner to prevent these people from re-offending. Then again, it's job security for judges and lawyers.

Kawartha kev- You can practice and experiment at home if you like, just let a tap run into a dark container and overflow, dim the lights and click away. You will be able to see if you can achieve a silky look. Nice thing with digital, you don't have to develop any pics, just look at them on the computer and delete what you don't like. It will at least give you a little idea of what to do, cause it can be hard once in the field.

Sure do, head east along hwy 1, maybe 1.5km past the Harrison Hot Springs turn off(hwy9), staying on Hwy 1. Shannon Falls is another beautiful falls, I believe the 3rd highest in B.C. That one is up towards Whistler, just before Squamish.
-
Neat shots Brandon. B.C. is a beautiful province. If you get a chance, head out to Bridal falls. Huge falls and in the right circumstances, make for a great photo opportunities. I didn't get the exact shot I was looking for, but maybe next time. This picture gives you a good Idea of what to expect. Look down in the left corner, you'll see my son standing there, really gives a great perspective of just how big the falls are.

I've been playing around with camera alot this summer and one thing I like is that silky look you get with using a longer shutter speed. I'm not great at explaining but you can go Here and get a little info on how to. I've found the darker it is as the sun goes down or before it comes up on the horizon , the better. Here's an early morning before the sunrises. This waterfalls is in Owen Sound

Like Dan said, but they do need calibration from time to time. On the 60CSX, you just have to make to full circles, to calibrate it. Then you can stand stiil and just hold it level instead of straight up, and she'll point which ever direction your facing. I wouldn't want a GPS without it.

Seeing that the leaves are starting to change colors and I'm already looking forward to getting some fall color pics, here's a few from last year. Let's see some more guys.
