  1. How many Walleye fillets can I bring back into the US from Ontario with a sporting lisence? Does the four in possesion per day mean I can only bring fillets from four fish?
  2. Getting close. It will be tough to beat last years big one
  3. Joyce Lake is catch and release on all Pike.
  4. My son and I had another good trip to Joycle Lake the first week of July. The weather was lousy but the bite was on. We beat last years with this 43" Pike.
  5. Some of you were kind enough to help me out with a GPS recommendation. I was looking for something for everyday use at home in Ohio for driving that would also work well on a boat. My son and I do a fly out from Red Lake, Ontario every summer. A GPS to get us there and navigation on the lake is what we are looking for. The overwhelming recommendation was for the Garmin GPSMAP 76CSx. I have researched this and it seems like a good unit for the price. It is waterproof and floats-a good feature since my 12 year old son will be using it with me, although I'll probably be the one who drops it. Here's the big question I have. We're fishing an outpost in the middle of Ontario. If we catch a nice fish can you press a button to mark the spot on the GPS so you can return there later? Thanks for your help folks!
  6. Can anyone give me some GPS advice? I have never used one and I may be crazy but here's what I'm looking for: A GPS that plugs in to the power source in my car that can also can be used with batteries when I get on a boat. I live in Ohio and go to an outpost way North with my son every year. When we catch a nice fish I would like to mark the spot with the GPS and also have local driving directions and Canadian directions all the way to Red Lake. Does something like this exist?
  7. I'm going to bring some puppies with me on next years outpost trip!
  8. My son and I go to a fly in outpost every year fishing for Walleye and Pike. We frequently catch Pike while trolling for Walleye with spinning reels light tackle and no leader. I use 45 lb Stren super braid. It works great. You still get the same action from your lures and I have a lot less line twist issues. We caught a 45 inch Pike with this set up while trolling for Walleye this summer. I use 65 lb super braid on the larger baitcasting setup. I won't use mono again.
  9. I grew up in Cleveland Ohio. When I was a kid there where pictures in the Cleveland Press of a sturgeon caught from a pier in Lake Erie that weighed over 200 pounds. The Pier was in Lakewood where I used to fish for sheephead and carp. This is very near the Cuyahoga river that caught on fire in 1972. Salmon are being caught in that river now. My preference is to head way north in Ontario for big pike.
  10. 51 inches and 32 pounds-that's amazing. Nice!
  11. I spend thousands every year to drive 25 hours one way to get on a plane and fly to an outpost for a week with my son. We collect more lures and tackle all winter and end using weedless Johnson Silver Minnows. I have to tell the border cossing folks I have 2 cartons of cigarettes and I have 4 cases of beer flown to the cabin. Holy crap do I have issues! http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.p...si&img=3107[/img]
  12. My 12 year old son and I were at a fly in outpost a month ago. We were doing really well with Walleye in a weedbed when he saw an eagle flying overhead and told me to get a picture. I reeled in my Johnson silver minnow and got the digital camera off my belt. As I was trying to get the picture I did not realize the silver minnow was still dangling in the water. The rod flipped up and hit me in the crotch. I almost lost the rod and the camera but caught a 35 inch pike!
