That's really expensive. Basscat carpet is considered one of the best, if not the best, boat carpets on the market and they sell their 24oz carpet for $11 USD in the 72" width. At 10 yards that's about $150 CDN plus shipping. When it's time to recarpet my Ranger, it's getting Basscat carpet. By the way, you really need to know what weight of carpet you want. Find out what is was from the factory because if you buy too thick a carpet, you'll have problems closing locker lids. Ie 16oz vs 20oz vs 24oz vs 28oz etc...

Actually, sturgeon hook ups aren't really that rare in the Eastern Basin of Erie at all. The issue is, because 95% of the fishing is bass and walleye on spinning tackle, it's just that...hook ups. A 4 footer will peel you clean in no time.

Thanks! Truthfully, I've thought many times I should do a redesign, test and take float reels to market. After 30 years in manufacturing/machining I have so many contacts to get components CNC machined, anodized and assembled, it would be relatively easy...if I could dedicate the time. Hehe..not that great really. It was my first crack at it and I know I could make one so much better now. But it landed more than a few bows! Funny you say that...I had a guy approach me while standing in Bowmanville Creek and offer to buy it! I laughed but he wanted one that nobody else had. The spool was unique. I didn't have access to high speed machines back in the day so I made copper electrodes and used an EDM machine to burn out the spoke pattern. There are a hundred better ways to do it now!! lol Thanks Thanks Brian. When I would catch a fish on it, it was more about the fact "I made it" than how it performed. Though I can say it never let me down and still spins smooth with the original bearings.

There is something very strange going on with the Pens. I hate Ottawa, I admit that, but the Pens absolutely rolled over last night. That wasn't one team dominating another as much as it was one team just not participating. There was no effort to get to loose pucks and my biggest pet peeve, no checking! The 3rd period should have been nothing more than Pittsburgh trying to set the stage for the next game. I think we're going to hear something after the playoffs about injuries or?? Crosby's not right and they absolutely need Letang. There's no easy way to the Stanley Cup but of all the available paths, Ottawa's been super lucky. Good news is, either of the western teams will crush them and they can claim victory by being the first losers!
