Really eh!!? We should stop caring all together and Ontario could have two teams with listless, fairweather fans!! lol Aki is extreme but at least he has passion!! Sure beats jousting with the empty seat brigade!! -

Seriously LOL. You've gone from training Navy Seals to giving participation medals in this conversation. A little overly theatrical don't you think?? I think the NHL has made some positive ground since Don Cherry played in Rochester??? maybe?? It's dead simple to understand that coaches need to be tough so there's no need to spin this into something it's not. Nobody is expecting to hear there was daily hug fests in the locker room. But to go off about how you have to "break guys down", military training methods and men play with broken ankles is ridiculous. Teams that read this can save a fortune on psychologists, sports science experts, performance coaches, etc once they learn all you have to do is break them down mentally. -

There's more than just a little irony in that statement. -

I think you need to read the article. It's not about him being mean to rookies. -

It's been long known that Commodore has an axe to grind with Babcock over his treatment when Babcock was his coach. But there is always some truth to every story and when enough people comment on Babcock's stubbornness - even to the point of hurting a team, there's probably some truth to it. Besides, look at the changes Keefe made in his first game and without benefit of spending time getting to know the team! When a new coach can come in and make instant changes because they're so obvious and have success, well, that speaks volumes. I think Tyson Barrie and Commodore feel exactly the same way. -
At least with those two guys, when Don says something controversial, Babcock will stubbornly defend it.

I think everyone has had ample opportunity to weigh in on this subject. Not sure if we're making any headway at this point.

That's good enough for me Chris. Simon, my apologies. Sometimes we only see things from our own perspective and it's difficult to walk in another's shoes. I can be guilty of that sometimes too. Your perspective is completely valid and in this case, likely even more so. Cheers.

I have no issue with that but like Chris also pointed out, it may be at the wrong target. š

True. And then there are those that shoot first and think later.
-
Whoa, not so fast!! Did he say I'm going to build you people a rink or we people a rink???
-
This absolutely reinforces that Don was speaking to the masses that do not wear poppies. "You people" vs "we people"??? Come on, really??? lol Let's wait for the "Us people" or the "They people" to be offended now. lmao Wow, that's a stretch. I guess if you look hard enough you can find anything.

I don't think it fair to speculate whether he was paid or not and then use it as a measuring stick of his sincerity. Yes, he was being paid while doing Remembrance segments on TV but unless it was the network telling him to do them, that's a moot point as well.

Don't get me started on Nylander. Maybe if he got a helmet that fit his melon he wouldn't be so scared to be first to the puck! When he coasts to let the other team get there first it drives me crazy. This is the lack of grit once again. -

When you call out the Leafs before the season even starts I jump all over you...but right now, you're absolutely right. They're horrible and playing well below where the should be given the talent pool. It's unbelievably disappointing. If I wanted to hate hockey this much I would have been a Sens fan! lol -
Strange that nobody complained for the last 30 years when he visited Belgium, France and countless cenotaphs here in Canada. Or, did tributes to fallen Canadian soldiers on Coaches Corner. Or did Remembrance Day segments every single year during Coaches Corner. So last week he said something that offended the pc crowd a bit and that was enough to undo decades of devotion to Canadian soldiers??? Give me a break...name another Canadian celebrity host that honoured the Canadian military sacrifice 1/10th as much a Don Cherry did. He had EVERY right to go there. That show was HIS and if the networks wanted it to be 100% hockey...they're 30 years too damn late to whine about it now.

For big water that is my dream boat and other than a 620, probably the only hull to get me out of my Ranger bass boat. It will SHINE in anything rougher than 3ā. Congrats!!

How Iād love to see who would stand up for Ron McLean right now if he got fired! Coward.

You people and your heated guides! meh! lol

Interesting way of expressing your perception of his racism... I guess one good "ism" deserves another.
