  1. Try selecting fish n chip in the menu
  2. I use a Dobyn's 704cb for my jerk bait duties. Casting setup, don't have any issues with it being 7 ft., wouldn't want a rod any longer than that though. Out of the 2, i'm not a fan St. Croix rods, ive held megabass in hand, nice rods. I would consider warranty on whatever I purchase. Not sure what kind those two carry.
  3. Garmins new units are nice for the price. Too bad the latest updates blocked navionics. Im partial to lowrance. I would consider an hds series just because they run quicker.
  4. Not sure on how reliable they will be though. Previously i avoided motorguide. But most ive talked to are really happy with their purchase. On the other hand minn kotas customer service is great. The few issues i had have been fixed quickly.
  5. Ive used both. IMO the xi5 is much better. Too bad as i have a terrova which i purchased before the xi5 came out and all lowrance products. Obviously the terrova is better suited to humminbird because of link. Just as motorguides gateway function with lowrance.
  6. Looking to pick up some drift socks to try this year. Normally the trolling motor is ok but I figured they may be helpful on Erie when I go out for smallmouth since my boat is a deep v. They act like a kite if it is windy out. Any recommendation on size and placement? I have read some use grocery carrying bags but I think id rather have the ones that are collapsible. I have read about bass boats potentially being swamped. Although it is a completely different style of boat, figured id ask for general knowledge on the best placement when running a pair of them. My boat is 18' btw. Thanks
  7. April marine is who i use. They were the best priced when i called around. Been with them for 5 years. (used to be called marine experts) I would separate your policies in case you file a claim. Insurance will most likely rise on both home/boat.
  8. Jays stinking all around today. Sanchez was all over the place
  9. I hated super 8, preferred regular PP. Or my favourites sx1/fx2 or seaguars smackdown
  10. Kind of confused, the site shows advanced ticket buy $15 but then family in brackets but doesn't show any terms. Normally shows are each, just want to make sure before i buy. This will be my first time at this show
  11. Unfortunately i cannot make it. Have a baptism to attend to. Would of loved to come and meet a few ofc members.
  12. An idea of what you have to do, but most mount starboard to avoid turbulence from prop and mount it closer to the center.
  13. Dont pay extra for a sternmate. Just pick up a transducer mounting board which is starboard. And some 3m 5200. For example, berts tackle makes one cut to size. 1/2 inch thick will do, maybe get 3/4" for piece of mind. 12"x4x3/4 is the dimension i cut mine out to. Only thing with berts is that their are two holes for screws predrilled for the transom. Thats up to you if you want to go that route. Ive put 3m on marine wood as a board and my friend has it on starboard, no issues. But technically, only with a much more expensive glue, is starboard fully bonded to your transom but i have never seen anyone to date pry it off or it come off on its own. Regular lowrance transducer should be level in relation to the transom with half, the line going around the skimmer transducer being under the hull. The lss transducer should be fully above the hull, so 1/4" while being within a foot of the skimmer. I have mine mounted starboard side, so the structure scan transducer is mounted the left (sitting lower) because if done the opposite, the image will be blocked by the other transducer. Also if your hull is riveted, keep it away from the line or the edge or close to anything that will cause bubbles. Since this is the only way to mount them on deep v's, you may have to trim up a bit to get a good reading for the opposite side which is ok since down and side scan work best while moving slower. I do have a picture of my setup somewhere, have to find it.
  14. Never been, but ill try to make it down there
  15. Whats your opinion on the hydrowave? You've done exactly what i want to do, swap a terrova for the xi5. Definitely post a review. Im considering doing it in the summer
  16. For dropshotting powerteam jp hammer shad are good. My favourite are the crosstail shad. Prefer both to xzone. Even for the swammer, there are better alternatives imo
  17. Thats too bad, missed that sale. I will try giving the shop a call to see if they stock that specific bait.
  18. Picked up a deep cranking set up last year and did well fishing dd22 and deep diving strike kings, i believe it was the 6xd. Any retailers up here in Ontario carry the duo realis g87? Seen it on youtube, looks like an amazing lure. Normally i just order it off TW but with the terrible exchange rates, trying to find another source.
  19. I use an hds 10 split screen but may consider adding a second small unit for gps. Any pics of your setup terry?
  20. I picked up the pro qualifier set from BPS last year, definitely the best purchase I made that year. Worked amazing in the rain. I preferred it over Guidewear/100mph as it was just a shell which allowed me to wear it in warmer temperatures, the coat atleast. And in the fall I just layered underneath with a sweater and fished until season end. And if you needed something thicker, the 100mph liner zips into the pro qualifier. Tried the Simms, nice coat but the BPS set was good enough, half the cost on sale also.
  21. I had a similar issue, ordered a net, nothing after 3 days. Emailed and they said it will be out by end of day or tomorrow. Got it the next day. Wasnt really worried though, its a big box store, not like it's ebay or some small random site.
  22. Thats what mine looks like. Was from a dealer, pretty sure its the same thing. Im by dixie/qew landry.
  23. I have a spare 1/2" board. Its light gray in colour. Ive used 1/2" for a few years with an lss2, skimmer transducer. Thought i needed thicker also but its been good so far.
