  1. Thanks for the info jim. HH
  2. With this week's weather seeming to stay somewhat cooler, I'm hoping to get out again this Sunday. Has anyone been out lately, can give me an idea about conditions...Should I be thinking Cook's or is the main body still available? Thanks, HH
  3. (quote name='ADB' date='22 March 2011 - 10:00 AM' timestamp='1300802431' post='564484'] Alright, fair enough HH. No offense meant. HH
  4. well again, it's obvious that you and I make purchasing decisions very differently... I look at EVERYTHING! As far as I am concerned, that's my job in this consumer/retailer relationship... especially in a situation like the O.P. where he knew going in, what the terms of the sale were. I guess when you have been around the block as many times as me, you get sceptical about parting with you hard earned cash... I stop "looking things over" as soon as I lay my money down... until then, I will tear the thing a part! BTW - $200.00 for a reel is obsurd to me, that in no way diminishes my stand here. HH
  5. Sorry Wayne, not a FB guy...but I hope that those who are, continue to help here. HH
  6. Well then, I guess you and I don't make buying decision the same way... and your analogy is rather insulting on many levels. I look at EVERYTHING before I buy, be it a head of lettuce or a car... and yes, I do look under the hood. Here's where I come from... I play guitar, I buy many and would not think about buying a guitar without trying it first... yes, that means taking it out of the case (the box if you will), looking it over for any kind of defect and giving it a whirl so to speak. Now I have bought $200.00 guitars and each one of them have received the same attention to detail from me, that my $3000.00 one's do... So, if you assume that everything is ok with a product, any product, right out of the box, well you get what you deserve. I believe it's called... buyer beware! HH
  7. I have to completely agree with you... Quantum's position not with standing, would you buy a car without driving it? Would you buy a TV without looking at it? Firstly, that kind of money for a reel is just crazy, IMHO, but if I was dropping that kind of coin on anything, you would be correct in assuming that I would take that critter out of the box and do a once/twice/three times over, before I dropped my money on the counter... So, again, IMHO, there are a lot of things that went wrong in this transaction and the three parties involved, share blame. HH
  8. Interesting to say the least... however I can't help but think that to some degree, this change will be a recipe for many floaters out in the blue water. I wonder what some of the Charter boat guys are thinking about this? HH
  9. You should always be mindful of cracks. Just sayin! HH
  10. So, being in the same boat as GBW, after reading this thread, I guess I'll empty the tank, run it dry, remove the plg, put some oil in it, re-fill the tank, run it for a bit, then hang it upright for the season... seems pretty simple to me! LMAO HH
  11. Sounds like a good time BB! HH
  12. Thanks Wayne, I'm here all week! HH
  13. Speak for yourself bud! I'm poor, cheap and delightfully handsome! But your boss is a dick,so I don't think you can get the time off! HH
  14. LMAO! Rick, Richard, oh man, what ever, just be glad your name isn't Ray Jay Johnstone Junior! Cause they doesn't has to call you Johnstone! Or worse yet, you could be O'Bannion/O'Shea! HH
  15. WOW!!!!!!!!!! HH
  16. A man can dream, can't he! LMAO HH
  17. Well, you might as well get two, as the cottage could probably, no stike that, definately could use one! LOL HH
  18. Bell may own TSN, but they do not own a team, and therefore they must compete on a different playing field then say, a Rogers owned team. IF Rogers buys them, I would think that there will be some very nervous folks at the CBC as the Satruday night games as well as the playoffs are the number one revenue generator for the CBC, outside of our combined tax contributions. This should be interesting... but my gut tells me that who ever buys the team, they will be looking at more pay tv and less "free" tv. HH
  19. I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss either Bell or Telus as they have been watching Rogers take ownership of virtually all programming in the sports world... they may have to consider this bitter pill, just to get a toe hold on this lucrative market. HH
  20. Nice collection... in many cases, the box is worht more than the lure, so i would be very careful with it. As mentioned, it should be put away in a safe place, unless and until you decide to part with it. HH
  21. Nice job Bernie... all it needs now is a nice shiny stainless prop and you are ready to hit the lake! HH
  22. Oh, I forgot to mention that I think point number 5 in your above post has a great deal of merit... both sides of this discussion are going to have to give and take, for a middle ground to be found. Legislating winter closure is a relatively easy thing to do, to anglers who require a license... but based on what you have indicated in your earlier posts, I'm guessing that enforcing such an agreement might prove to be difficult, for the First Nations to enforce, amoung their people. How do you tell someone who has treaty rights to not spear in the spring, when they are only looking to provide some protein to their family... it's a pretty complicated situation, isn't it. HH
  23. Hey Crosshairs, thanks for hanging in the thread... Us against them is a pretty common thing these days, regardless of what the topic is. I gather that through the years, a great deal of distrust has been festering and as such, I can see where that comes from. I am however concerned about the expectation that the MNR will step up with money for Nip. I can only imagine the screams that will come from anglers far and wide, about how their license dollars are being spent to fill NFN nets. I know that I would have concerns with that. I know I am speaking to the choir here with regard to anglers following the rules with regard to the slot and possesion numbers... I have yet to personally meet any OFC'er who has delberately broken a rules, so if that is indeed a problem on the lake, I haven't seen it; that doesn't by any means suggest that it doesn't happen. I don't know if getting money from outfitters is a possibility either. Is there enough nmoney in the pool to share? I was up there a few weeks back and was well within eye shot of the ice condos and it appeared to me that at least half, were un-occupied. But I think you make a good point about all stakeholders having a say in the future of the lake. But that starts to get back into the us against them thing again, doesn't it. HH
