  1. Have to agree with Cliff, Weeds and Cookslav. I can and often, all too often rhyme of a whole slew of cursing and swearing. That doesn't mean that it is right. If I'm around kids (especially not my own) mixed group of sexes or people older than myself I do the best to curtail the language although a slip once in a while will happen. I think in general we as a society have lost a lot of respect for other people. So many people are trying to be politically correct these days I find this to be ironic. It's just a matter of respect and common decency to be careful when other people are in earshot of what we say. OK so a big one strikes, it gets off, you curse, OK it's not right only a slip of the tung but to carry on and on and every other word is swearing and others can hear you is just disrespectful.
  2. I've been saying that for a long, long time. Everything is imported. Us North Americans are for letting this happen. Too many available jobs are now in retail, pays crap and you have to earn a living trying to sell all the s%$t made everywhere else. Fibreglass entry doors are coming onto the market really strong and will soon replace steel doors as the #1 choice. Every FG door comes from China, (and sell for a higher margin) many of the fancy glass door inserts also come from offshore. The wood door jambs, yep they too also come from China in particular the preprimed ones. Of course the assemblers make it sound like they are all made here. Nope, only put together on this continent. Soon there will be no manufacturing jobs left in Canada.
  3. Never. Thin ice and idiots are kind of like trailer parks in the tornado belt. Idiots are drawn to it like tornadoes are drawn to trailer parks.
  4. Don't worry about the boat, the baby is a better deal anyhow. Look at it this way, a boat is a hole in the water you keep putting money into. And a baby, well, it takes money too but will reciprocate a lot better than a boat. Congratulations!
  5. Yep, pretty neat looking lures. Can't beat the price either, at a buck a pop you don't mind loosing the occasional one. At least that is better than 5 to 7 bucks left snagged on a log. And they can catch fish, however as any lure they are designed to catch the fisherman first.
  6. Thanks for the very helpful and generous offer Wayne. I would be happy to help you get some of your PayPal funds back in your pocket but PH Jr got onto the ticketmaster site and orderd a couple of tickets for the game on Wednesday night instead of the Fri game against the Lakers. I checked out a couple of the other ticket sites including Stoty's, thanks for the tips Stoty and Gerritt. They had tickets available but it was going to cost over $200 for 2 seats including the charges and shipping for the Lakers game so we got the same seat type for the Wizards game on Wed for a total of about $101 for 2 from TM. Pikehunter Jr. is just as pleased with that so off we go to the game! This is the least I could do for him. I sort of promised him and my wife a Christmas trip to Florida but that didn't happen. Then we spoke about taking him to The Dominican Republic or somewhere for this week as it is exam week for him and he hasn't any to write so he has a whole lot of free time! Lucky bugger! But as you can seethat didn't happen either Sooooo.....my wife just came in the door from work, my son says dad and I are going to the game on Wed! I told her well it's a payoff for the trip that didn't happen. She says what about me.... Oh oh, stuck my foot in my mouth again! Gotta do something, exciting with his and my time off, this Saturday I start a new job! And then next week it's back to school for him and on into his last semester of high school!
  7. I have never bought tickets on the net before. So I checked out the Raptors web site which sell through Ticketmaster but they apparantly have none available. EBay requires PayPal and I don't want to sign up for an account. I found an outfit called Coast to Coast tickets and they look and sound legit. Member of the Better Business Bureau so they say. I think they may have some tickets available. Nose bleed section tickets are OK as we don't want to spend much money and they may have balcony centre court tickets. Works out to about a hundred bucks for 2 with the charges etc. Anyone ever bought tickets like this before? Thanks in advance for your help. Harry
  8. Glad to see someone has luck on St. John. We've been there in the warm season and never had such good fortune. Very well done and a great set of pictures!
  9. What a superb day on the ice!
  10. Knew someone once that also did not like the taste of fish. Her choice though was always Halibut if she was going to eat fish, probably one of the mildest of all species and has the least fishy taste of any salt water variety. My list: halibut Haddock Pollock (this is the fish that is mixed in with crab to make fake crab legs as it has no distinct flavour of it's own) Perch (very sweet and mild) Walleye Catfish Some would say though that Catfish is milder than Walleye. But then "Pickerel" is sweeter than Walleye Sorry, but I have to disagree with HH as I find Sole to be a bit too strong tasting and I can tell when the makers of precooked frozen breaded fillets in a box or bag have sneaked in the odd piece of Sole. They do this sometimes because Sole is cheaper.
  11. Good report and pics from the Southlands. Keep telling myself "I gotta git down thar and git me sum of dem thar crappie." Thanks for the report.
  12. Detectors do fail, we were living in a townhouse and everyone had a co detector. Then many of them started to fail by giving false alarms. All were returned to the store and replaced. Maybe a 2nd. opinion from another tech will confirm what you were told. It can't hurt to shop around for prices and an alternative remedy. It's just like your car, leave it at the shop for a day and taking the word of the mechanic. If you aren't shown the defect and witness it with your own eyes then how can you put 100% of your faith in what he says? Best of luck and stay warm.
  13. Gothcha Wayne, isn't there a limit on how much an individual can keep on hand? Just wonderin'
  14. Whazat???
  15. Bernie stated it well. By the sounds of things he isn't on a time clock, maybe that would make a big difference. If he does his job (or above and beyond,) gets along well, is otherwise dependable, contributes, has a good nature and otherwise is an OK guy then don't let him get to you as this is what he is looking for. Probably just his way of showing that his superiors are not in complete control of him. Frustrating? Yes. But if all the pluses add up then don't sweat it. Just grab your fishing pole and seize the day!
  16. It's a good TV show, the kid does grab the centre of attention whenever he speaks. In my opinion he makes the show. Charlie has the same attitude to life as my late brother had. Now only if my brother had Charlie's money and lived on Malibu... I still like Corner Gas and it tops my list for favourite current TV shows.
  17. Just save yourself the worry and pour it into your car's gas tank. The little but of oil in it won't hurt and if you have 1/2 a tank already in the car the oil content will become diluted. I've done it for years, as well as many others. When next season arrives get some fresh gas, no problems.
  18. Canadian Tire Gas = Esso Pioneer Gas = Sunoco If the dealer said the boat was winterized they probably ran stabilizer through the system.
  19. Great report and pics. I'm glad to see you retrieved your bike and phone. Is that Neon Legal? It's pretty neat, looks like a Red Green invention.
  20. Glad for you to hear that that's over with I hope the results are favourable and the test up the back end goes well for you too
  21. Ya, 3 pnts for hitting the dock.....6 for chipping the paint on a $60,0000 bass boat. Then a grand to touch up the chunk out of the glass after the guy catches you after the short but dramatic chase across the lake. Congrats BTW, and you would have hit all 3 shots in the second round if you didn't try to show off!
  22. That is a good one. Still trying to figure out if it was funny or a lesson to be learned? Going to make me think twice if if I see there is a set of pearly gates at the end of my road.
  23. Hilarius! So the is now hiring himself out as a party planner! I am truly amazed, what next? Thanks for posting the follow up.
  24. I can still remember when the first time the fishing license became mandatory....I think it was something like 3 bucks! The proceeds were to go to conservation and the like. A couple of years later they dropped the idea of fishing licenses and it was free once again....then our geniuses in power decided to bring them back, but the price went up! I haven't a problem with paying a license fee to fish, what we pay now is reasonable. However, if the funds go into the general account then that is not right. All profits should be turned back into the fishery. Anyone remember the tire tax???? The funds were to go into an account to research and to fund old tire use. Never happened, all the money went in with all the rest of the money the government collected and none of it went to where it was supposed to have gone! Then someone woke up and they dropped the tax as a political good will gesture or whatever and the millions of dollars remained part of the general account. Gee, and politicians wonder why no one respects them.
  25. Why I would love to his head into a wall! What a screw up! Maybe his dad should grab hold of that nipple ring and drag the useless ass around the neighbourhood and make him straighten up the mess!
