If you are towing on a regular basis, I wouldn't want to go over 2,000 pounds for the boat, motor, trailer, and gear; keeping down to 1,500 would be better. The driver, passengers, and gear in the vehicle count towards the 3,600 limit too. In many cases, even options on the vehicle count towards the capacity. The capacity is calculated by figuring out the maximum weight of the vehicle with passengers, cargo and tow load, then subtracting the weight of the just the vehicle. The difference is what you can add to the vehicle. If the vehicle itself if heavier than the one they used to determine the calculation, then you have already lost some of the capacity. Manufactures usually use the lightest confifuration of their vehicle to increase capacity. It may be based on a vehicle with no spare or radio; GM actually used extra light wheels to bump their capacity.

DAFT Ottawa River Management Plan posted for comment
John Bacon replied to Lunker Larry's topic in General Discussion
Re: "DAFT Ottawa River Management Plan posted for comment" Is it really that bad? -
Thanks for your help, I was able to get everything running.

Thanks, the credentials appear to be correct. But now I get a "No process is on the other end of the pipe" message. I hope that there is a simple fix for that.

I hope some IT people can help me with an issue. I am trying to use an Amazon server for a software development environment. The Server is running Windows Server 2012 R2. The server came with SQL 2014 preinstalled. Windows authentication is not working when I try to sign into SQL. Is there a defaul user ID / Password for opening SQL on an Amazon server?

Algonquin Park Backcountry Permits Cancelled For Opener
John Bacon replied to 4x4bassin's topic in General Discussion
Assuming that LSPP stands for Lake Superior Provincial Park, Algonquin is approximately five times the size. -
That won't happen this year. There isn't enough difference between the 1st and 3rd picks to warrent giving up a prospect to move up two positions in the draft.

If they think that they are going to get a 100 pounds of eggs from an Ontario sturgeon, I think they will be in for a big dissapointment. That figure must come from coastal sturgeon. I think the fish would have to weigh over 500 pounds to have 100 pounds of eggs. I think the Ontario records is about 150 pounds. I am not sure how accurate the rest of the information is. Regardless, I don't think it is realistic to just leave all of the facts out of an article in hopes that those with criminal intent don't get any ideas. The information is out there. I am sure that many criminals have better information that the writer of the article.

Looking good for the clinch now.
-
I thought the Leaf's would clinch last spot since they were going up against a team that is trying to make the playoffs.
-
I don't think the Leafs would have won three in row from March 19 to 24 if they were losing games on purpose. They lost their last three, but prior to that they had actually been doing pretty good for a while. They are obviously trying, they just don't have a lot of good experienced players.

Best battery for a trolling motor on a kayak
John Bacon replied to Acountdeleted's topic in General Discussion
Remove the caps (rectangler ones on top of the battery in your link) and pour distilled water in. The plates should be completely covered with water. I usually fill to the bottom of the cylinder at the bottom of the cap (you should be able to see what I mean once the cap is off). There will be six different cells to check. I don't have to fill them very often. Some of the more expensive batteries are sealed won't have removable caps. -
Best battery for a trolling motor on a kayak

The bigger and heavier the battery, the longer the charge will last. The 800 number in red on the left gives you an indication of the charge that the battery can hold. It is usually proportional to the size and weight of battery. I have had better luck with Walmart and Costco batteries than I have had with Canadian Tire batteries. Recharge the battery as soon as possible after use and keep the fluids topped up (preferably with distilled water). -

They have made a couple of additons to their pitching staff. I am not sure how much the Chris Leroux will help them; but, the other deal looks good. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-sign-left-hander-franklin-morales-1-year-deal/ http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-acquire-pitcher-chris-leroux-phillies/

The subsidies to the oil industry are greatly exaggerated. The figures that are published do not represent money actually given to the oil industry. There is a lot of creative thinking about constitutes subsidies to the oil industry. E.g. the lost revenue from not billing oil companies for traffic jams is considered a subsidy to the industry; allowing the oil industry to deduct business expenses for tax purposes is considered to a subsidy. The billions of dollars of subsidies that are reportedly given to the oil industry does not represent actual cash provided to the companies. However, the oil industry does provide a lot of actual cash to the governments in the form of royalties and fuel taxes. A large portion of the cost of a litre of gas is for various taxes. http://business.financialpost.com/fp-comment/imfs-imagined-34-billion-silly-stats-are-behind-claims-that-canada-subsidizes-oil-industry http://business.financialpost.com/fp-comment/terence-corcoran-the-cbcs-fossil-fuel-subsidies-folly

How much of the energy purchased from Bruce are they not using? If utilization is what is driving the price from 5.2 cents to 13.6; they would have to actually use less than 40% of what they are required to purchase. Are there other factors accounting for the difference? Do you have a source for the 13.6 cents figure that you posted? An acquaintance of mine, who worked for Ontario Hydro, told me that nuclear one of the cheapest forms of electricity. All of the research that I have done seems to confirm this. https://cna.ca/why-nuclear-energy/affordable/power-rates/ http://www.torontosun.com/2014/12/17/nuclear-power-is-clean-and-affordable http://www.energybc.ca/profiles/nuclear/uselectricitycost.html

Crackle works by creating sounds; not bubbles. I think I heard of people using Alka Seltzer in their tubes though.

It looks like only 27 players voted. The article below mentioned that he received 30% of the votes; then later mentions that he received 8 votes. And when Phaneuf was voted the most overrated... it was because he received all of the three votes. Obviously there is not much participation from the players in these votes. http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/penguins-phil-kessel-the-most-overrated-player-according-to-player-poll/

Do you have a link to support the 13.6c KW/h for nuclear? I found a link (from 2013) stating that we are paying 5.2c for power from Bruce. Has it gone up that much in three years? http://www.powerauthority.on.ca/nuclear/bruce-power-refurbishment-implementation-agreement/amendment-april-2013 April 2013 Bruce Power Contract Amendment April 2013 The Ontario Power Authority has completed a contract amendment to the Bruce Power Refurbishment Implementation Agreement (BPRIA). The amendment secures a cost-effective source of electricity to the end of the decade and is the first step in a commercial agreement to secure 6,300 MW at the Bruce site for the long-term. Since 2005, Bruce Power has invested about $1 billion in its four Bruce B units and, over the next five years, plans to invest an additional $1.1 billion. These investments are extending the operational lives of the units from the original end of life dates between 2016 and 2019 to between 2019 and 2020. Bruce Power will continue to receive the floor price set out in the BPRIA, currently at 5.2 cents per kilowatt-hour, which is the lowest cost generation under contract with the OPA. This amendment provides significant financial benefit to Ontario ratepayers by securing 15 percent of Ontario’s annual electricity supply from Bruce B, which is reliable, low cost and low emission baseload power to 2020, a time period when some Bruce and Darlington nuclear units are expected to be offline for refurbishing. The OPA continues to work with nuclear operators to develop a co-ordinated schedule for the 10 remaining refurbishments to secure the output at these two sites for the long-term.

I just completed a survey for The Toronto Sportsman Show... I guess they didn't think this question through Will you be attending next year's 2016 Toronto Sportsmen's Show?

I found the fishing to be pretty tough wading from the beach. If walk out any distance it is quite difficult to balance yourself. Waves hitting your chest knock you off balance. I did managed to catch a fish while fishing from a paddle boat though.

I have heard of it. I understand that it requires a 100:1 reduction compared to the 40:1 for maple. That would explain why it runs fast.
-
The two shows are completely independend of one another. We have two shows because two different groups choose to organize shows in the Toronto area.

Is a vehicle lost through the ice covered by Insurance?
John Bacon replied to Old Ironmaker's topic in General Discussion
If that were true then you wouldn't be covered for an accident that was your fault. Nor, would you be covered for a house fire caused by a smoker.
