I have read that ethanol is now mandatory for all gasoline. There may be an exception for marine fuels, but even if that's true, I am not the refineries would bother for such a small market. I have also read that there are additives that can alleviate some of the problems with ethanol fuels.

I am surprised that the record isn't longer too. Aren't there places in Ontario with a 54" minimum limit? Perhaps there have been longer ones caught that just weren't officially entered.

If you're buying direct from Amazon there shouldn't be any problem at all. Amazon also sells for third party suppliers. There may be some risk from a third party supplier; but even that risk is small.

At Ringwood, we treat the salmon with vitamin B baths to combat the effect of thiamase. I have heard figures of 10% mortality from EMS (early mortaliy syndrome) relating to thiamase. 10% isn't going to destroy a fishery on it's own. But an additional 10% on top of other challenges such as less than ideal river and creek habitat may prevent a species from establishing a self sustaining population.

It's bigger than Simcoe. I am sure it can handle a bit of fishing pressure.

Probably short. Almost all small boats are. You can measure it. I think it should be around 15" for a short shaft and 20" for a long shaft.

It's been over two years since Evinrude was shut down. Their smaller motors were made by Tohatsu that were priced about $1,000 more than the same more with either Mercury or Tohatsu decals on them. Bass Pro usually has a sale on Mercuries in the spring. That is where I found the best price. I purchased a 5hp kicker there four years ago.

I think that Nissan would have actually been a Tohatsu with Nissan decals. A 9.9 Merc would be a Tohatsu with Mercury decals. I haven't any any major issues with either my 2008 50hp Mercury or my 5hp Mercury/Tohatsu.

I have contemplated it. I thought of using some 1" square tubing to widen the gunwale.
