  1. sweet truck man! But it looks like a black exterior to me
  2. that's a big bucket! Especially with the kids in the picture holding it! I'd say easy 5 pounder, what a beaut!
  3. I like secrets let me in haha Even though this report is a month old I must say that is a fat pike @ 25". I gotta get out there and find me some small relatively unknown lakes nearby. Mountsberg is good and I have yet to be skunked there, but I hate seeing all of the garbage there, let a lone all the people fishing (often illegally). I actually saw someone on Mountsberg with a little 2-4hp outboard. What a tool, no excuse for that as there is a BIG sign stating the rules of the lake
  4. good video! I would love to one day go out for musky, and that was a very informative video on the handling/releasing of fish.
  5. Yeah, I had a member here offer to take me out, but we closed the cottage and I wont be back on Simcoe until the spring (unless we get a cold winter, then ice fishing for sure). Can't wait for the spring though, get some big pike hopefully! This is my first year fishing it and really only got out there 4-5 times. I was fishing blind though and basically fished where I saw others fishing. I kept a good distance though as to not upset anyone.
  6. those are some hogs! it still frustrates me that I can't even find a smallmouth in Simcoe...Those are some nice fish!
  7. That's too funny. Hope they don't start attacking my mazda!
  8. Not even a joke anymore with that bear killed in Burlington earlier this year
  9. wicked fish! Sad to see it die though...it must have been quite old, anyone have a guess as to its age?
  10. hmm, I guess it's not that rare after all... In my 23 years here I've never seen them, and I used to be in the ravine by my house all the time when I was a bit younger.
  11. Hey all, so a week ago or so I heard a neighbour mention he saw a few turkeys on my/his lawn. I wasn't sure whether or not to believe him, so I kind of laughed it off and went on. Anyways, today rolls around about 2 hours ago (2pm) I open my front door to see 9 wild turkeys on my front lawn under my big tree. They must be feeding off of the small berries that the tree grows. The thing I don't get is why all of a sudden? I've had deer/fox/snapping turtles on my lawn before, hawks eating a small bird in my backyard, but never have I even seen a wild turkey in my life let alone on my lawn. For reference, I live @ Bronte road just south of Speers. I have heard of turkey's north of dundas/hwy5, but never this south. Has anyone else noticed any weird animals on their front door?
  12. ** and that dinosaur would be a dilophosaurus
  13. haha dear lord I actually cannot stop laughing at this thread. And that pike...looks like those spitting dinosaurs from the first Jurassic Park
  14. ah, so tough with a trolling motor I bet still might go sunday if the weather holds up...haven't caught a fish in over a month :|
  15. amazing report as always! Looks like some great late summer / early fall fishing!
  16. Diggin' up an old thread, but only because I don't feel the need to start a new one with the exact same topic! What's it like these days? I know we really haven't had much rain but just wanted to see if anyone ventured out that way recently. Would be nice if anyone could chime in so I don't waste gas and time for nothing Thanks a lot!
  17. Was at the cottage on Fox Island this weekend. Friday was nice, a little choppy, but nice. Saturday was absolutely crazy. Had to pick up some people for the Thanksgiving dinner and really should not have been out on the water, and this is in a 19" bowrider. I saw a guy on a ~15 footer out there near Snake Island...wonder if it was him? This is my first year on Simcoe, and still don't know the lake well (got the cottage Aug1. and only been there on weekends). We got into some large swells, easily 6foot on Saturday... Thankfully all that happened was I got wet, lesson learned that day that's forsure. Stay safe
  18. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2R_VN_vH_g I mean, if it works on a tinnie with a screen door floor.... in all seriousness though, my neighbour bought this stuff to coat some spots on his tinnie that had minor leaks, and while it slowed them down, flex seal did NOT fix the issue. Good luck in your search!
  19. Take me next time! Mind you I bring nothing to the table... Very jealous of these fish! Looks like a great day, how long were you out for total?
  20. I've yet to find them, but always love reading about people who have. Was out today...a little too choppy that's for sure and managed 1 Goby.
  21. I have a cottage on fox island...and have yet to target in on ANY fish. Here right now and frying frustrated wasting gas haha Help a brother out Nice pics by the way! Time to go cut down a big tree that went down on labour day.....
  22. They look great! I think I may try my hand at making some lures/jigs this coming winter. Call me stupid, but how do you fish these jigs? I guess there would be no wrong way, yo-yoing them, swimming them, etcetera; but are there any other specific techniques? Also, when and where would be the best time to use these? Obviously in weeded areas, but I am unsure. If you can't tell I am still learning a lot! Hell, I just started using senkos for the first time this year (and caught my pb largie and some beaut smallies). Thanks for the help in advance, and sorry for taking over your thread with my questions but I've been curious as to jigging techniques for a while
  23. Just got a cottage out on fox island. Thought I would throw a minnow trap off the dock to catch some minnows for a perch dinner. Not only did we not get 1 minnow, but we got 5 gobies. Too bad we can't use them as bait Guess that's what the goby imitations are for
  24. +1 And the fish alarm, if not the damn thing will sound like an alarm clock because it sees fish that aren't there. Like said, use it to find structure and depths...not so much fish
  25. They are nearly identical. My 160 has served me well as stated and very good on battery life. It comes with a rechargeable, the lowrance might need D batteries, not sure but definitely something to look into!
