  1. This wins in my books Seriously though some amazing reads here! Keep them coming! Can't wait to have some of my own!
  2. They need a 12v source, so the 9volt would be no good.(don't quote me on this...at work so I cannot look it up) Not sure on the power draw on it, but I have a humminbird piranhamax 150(or is it 160) portable unit. Comes with a portable case, battery, and charger. While I admittedly don't use it much, I've only charged it once. I used this in my inflatable and now in my portaboat. For the portaboat I rigged the transducer directly to the bottom of my trolling motor using heavy duty zip ties and some marine goo. Held out well for the fish-a-thon! Good luck in your hunt! I may be willing to let my portable unit go for a reasonable price, because as it is now it gets near to no use at all. It is also a perfect unit for icefishing. If I feel the need to sell ill pm you!
  3. Went to a trout lake near noellville a couple weeks ago...hard o find on a map given the hundreds of other trout lakes out there.
  4. Reading this thread on my phone....read the title as 'kick the frog' I was waiting for either a new fishing technique or cruelty to animals Haha Dont mind me....Carry on
  5. Thank you everyone for your help! Ended up getting a hookup with my uncles brothers company. Originally just wanted a simple engraved sign but got a deal and persuaded to go another route! Thanks for the offer on the wood HTHM! Very kind of you. Thanks again and I still may try my hand at a DIY. Might be a fun project, and simple (Haha) according to those YouTube videos. Take care guys!
  6. My family just got a cottage on fox island. Don't tell me the fishing is tough lol Studying a Topo map of the area shows fox island shoal, I would assume there would be some smallies hanging around there, any input? We get the cottage Aug.1 and are going up for the long weekend. Another quick question, what is a good size tinny for simcoe? I'd assume atleast 16', wide bodied. Need to get a tinny so I can just leave it docked in summer and bring it on land and flip for winter as I have no means of transporting it. Will upgrade to a bigger boat eventually, but want this for this year and the next!
  7. There are some near 5lbers largies in there...I might have proof Pm for pics if you'd like
  8. This year with this heat you'd probably be hard pressed to find anything over 6'. Water levels are WAY down compared to last year. Still a fun lake until the weeds took over
  9. The Abu rods have a 3 year warranty, or atleast my vendetta does. I have been super happy with mine. 2piece 7' medium. Only complaint is mine has a longer handle and I find myself bruising my side sometimes when I set the hook...I am getting more used to it though and it happens less and less Other than that I really have no input. I've had some serious snags and even broke a gamakatsu wackey worm hook trying to get it out and the rod hasn't flinched.
  10. looks like Averies largemouth would have fought for biggest bass on Saturday
  11. I'll inquire...but now you guys are making me think I can do it myself. Might be pretty rough around the edges, anyone know any place in Oakville/GTA to get a nice piece of wood that would be acceptable for making one of these? I'll google around to try to find a local mill but any tips would be great
  12. Hey everyone! With the recent passing of my beloved grandma, my mother and aunt used their share of her savings that was left after funeral costs and purchased a cottage on fox island on lake simcoe...its what she would want them to do with the money, have fun and not pay off bills. The cottage is ours August1, and my moms birthday is August 3rd. I would love to get a custom wooden sign made with my grandma's name on it, and we have decided on 'Bessie's Landing'. Anyways that is why I came here. I have googled a bunch but just wanted some of your experiences and maybe one of you talented folks even do such art. Not sure of exact dimensions, but the sign would be either hung from the front of the cottage, or placed in the ground via a post on the land near waters edge and would be visable from a reasonable distance. This would mean a whole lot to my mom and would probably bring tears to her eyes. You guys have any input or connections?? Thanks!
  13. not workin for me either. HTHM, those burgers were damn tasty
  14. awesome job by all the volunteers! And thanks to Julie for being the designated photographer, even though she took one of Rachel and I sleeping The pictures turned out amazing! Can't wait for next year
  15. It really is. Dabluz just said too much! No offence though, a lot of great info given! Long story short, get a good DC battery and an intelligent charger for it. Go to Canadian Tire, get a Nautilus DC battery. Aim for the highest RC(reserve capacity) and amp hours your budget can afford. Then get a charger, I too bought a cheaper charger from Walmart made by Schumacher. No problems so far! Battery has been going strong for 2 years now. And it is my main source of power, so I use it to get across the lake and back, as well as finding structure, pounding the shores, and trolling. Don't look into this too much. I'll restate. Get the best battery you can buy, and then get an intelligent charger. You will be good to go for ATLEAST a full day of use. Just be sure to charge it after every use! Good luck and have fun!
  16. had a great day! Thanks to Dan and Ryan, and everyone else involved. The food was fantastic as usual, and the prizes and donations were incredible! The only gripe of the day was the fishing But still had a blast, damn weather made it tough. Congrats to everyone who won an award, and especially to the guy who raised the most pledges, absolutely amazing! He will be getting spoiled by Dave Mercer thats forsure! Thanks again and can't wait for next years event, its growing exponentially!
  17. What he said! I have an inflatable that I used all last season and with a 32lb thrust motor and deepcycle, it pushed me around quite well! All you need is 1 battery, but like Sinker said, get the biggest one (highest amp hour & reserve capacity) you can find. Good luck and be safe out there! Don't try to be a hero and take an inflatable on Lake O or similar Also on the charger note, make sure you get a smart/intelligent charger. That is the key to prolong the life of your DC battery! On one full charge my boat lasted 2 days of use, not consistently on but used for a good chunk of it.
  18. Met up with Pikeslayer aka Simon and picked up a prizepack from Clam Corp! The ice rods look great! Can't wait for tomorrow....but definitely not looking forward to leaving my house by 04:30 :| Long day of fishing
  19. went to Deer Creek and fished for about 5 hours or so. Caught tonnes of good size rockbass, and 1 nice largie. The girlfriend caught some nice gills. Majority of fish were caught within a 2-2.5 hour span. Even caught a Goby...didn't know those stupid things were in this lake too... Pics:
  20. also, I have been repping the fish-a-thon decal on my car for the past few weeks, will grab a pic of it tomorrow!
  21. Going to be going to Deer Creek either Wednesday or Thursday of this week. If I feel ambitious enough I will post some pics of my fishing! Hope its not as hot this year as it was last, can't wait!!!!
  22. Fishing is not allowed in killcoursie bay, which is around killbear, so just be careful of where you fish
  23. I certainly am on TM3, my second favorite forum I fish mountsberg all the time, and that was most definitely me! Here I am all loaded up: and as for the floor, I just used regular 1/2 plywood and wrapped it all the way around, top and bottom, with grey indoor/outdoor. Don't have any pics of it, but if anyone wants to buy the whole setup minus battery and motor PM me
