  1. Don't bring much beer next year...its on me also, that fire was sick
  2. Good call on the braided line cutter, next time I'm at Sail or BPS I'll snag one. Also thanks for the tip on superglue, that never even crossed my mind! Another tip with superglue, is it works WONDERS to close up cuts from line or hooks! Temporary of course but it works on the fly
  3. I only just started using fluoro leaders (well..pline fluroclear...)and had my knot break on me yesterday at the fish-a-thon. I did a uni to uni but the next time I did extra wraps for the fluoro side. Didn't break on me the rest of the day even after getting into some legit snags. I am not so sure about the whole 'fish can see the line' thing. I just like tying knots and cutting mono/fluoro over braid. Unless my knife is super sharp, I end up fraying the crap out of braid and it just looks unappealing. **I also added a simple overhand knot to both the fluoro and braid side with the tag ends before snipping...not sure if it helped, but I am a believer in 'if you don't know knots, tie lots'
  4. great time as usual! Ryan n Dan do a great job. Nice to see you guys and actually hang out the night before...from what I remember it was a great time
  5. Thanks Ryan, what site do you guys have? I don't remember ours but Rachel and I will go for a wander once we get the tent and everything set up!
  6. Can't wait man! Be there tomorrow afternoon sometime. Any idea if we can leave a boat docked overnight?
  7. cannot wait for this again this year. Somehow I have yet to register, but Rachel did a while back, time to get pledging! This has turned into my favourite fishing event of the year, and without a doubt is one of the best days on the water I can think of. We have a site booked for the 26th so we don't have to leave Oakville at 5am anymore
  8. I wouldn't suffer because I really don't know what its like to fish WITH electronics I need a real boat
  9. I would check the regulations to be sure of what is open, as I do not know for sure. Someone more local might know more, I am sure they will chime in!
  10. Kilcoursie Bay is closed all year for fishing, so right out of killbear is a no go
  11. ^this. But I don't think he was referring to this thread. I think he means in general its near impossible to get a true picture of a fishes size without some type of angle or pose these days. None the less I agree with what you say though. This is a fishing site, and I'd rather see more of the fish and less of the person (no offence guys )
  12. This I thought it was weird too, but its law. Get it just to be safe!
  13. I feel the same way. It was well known that he is *supposed* to be a number 1, but with the uprising of Jonathan Quick, Bernier was forced to the bench. He has less experience than Reimer, but more upside according to the analysts. I think it will be good to have him and Reimer battling, just like Reims/Scrivens this year. I do feel like Frattin has a lot of upside though, and I bet the Leafs are expecting to finish in the top 5 this coming season so that 2nd rounder isn't going to be very high. Without a doubt our goaltending got better, and assuming Frattin never becomes an elite player, and lets be honest, I doubt he will, I think the Leafs won the trade. I can't help but feel for Reimer though, he played so well last season, but unfortunately showed his inexperience in that game 7 (albeit the team in front of him didn't do much to help in the second half of the 3rd period). Should be an interesting summer. I hear David Clarkson is wanting to come to Toronto, and he would be a PERFECT fit on the team. I have also heard that Bozak isn't very close to resigning, and MacArthur isn't either. That would free up a lot of space in the line up, and maybe we can even get a true number 1 center. Also heard rumors about Phaneuf being on the way out....but its all rumors at this point
  14. Bernier for Frattin, Scrivens, and a 2nd rounder
  15. damn those are some monsters looks like you caught more large bass in one week than I have in my life (so far ) great report!
  16. jesus, if thats a mid size pike, I don't even think the ones I have caught would be considered small! Great fish **just noticed the outstreched arms... still bigger than anything I've ever caught
  17. http://m.costco.ca/Canada%E2%80%99s-Wonderland.product.10368663.html Not sure if you need to be a Costco member to purchase online, but this could save you a few bucks!
  18. Well... I learned the other weekend that a $5 lure is easier to replace than a $70 rod. The rod, mind you, did seem to break a bit easier than it should have, as I was trying to avoid using the rod as leverage and was trying to pull the line by hand. Lesson learned the hard way I guess.
  19. nice boat man! A bit of an upgrade from the portaboat eh? Have fun with it! Thanks again for your help with the boat launch location!
  20. Thanks a lot guys! Had a decent day out there, the wind was a pain for my little boat, and I think I need to get a real anchor and not use a 10lb barbell weight I caught 7 and my girlfriend caught 4. Nothing too big until we decided to fish the shoreline to avoid the wind. Ended up landing this guy, put up a great fight
  21. Nice! Wish I had a small tiller for mine though, just using my electric so needless to say I'm staying closer to shore
  22. That is awesome man thank you so much! Now to find the fish.....
  23. Hey guys! Looking to find a spot in the southern part of cooks bay where I can 'launch' my portaboat. Launch is emphasized because all I really need is water access and a small bit of flat land beside it where I can put it together. I would prefer not to pay to launch, but am willing to pay a small fee to park my car, but obviously free is preferred. My plan is for the girlfriend and I to hit up some LM/SM bass and maybe some pike. Any input is welcomed!
