  5. damn, that's one productive day...I think you guys caught more lakers/whitefish than I did perch on my outting
  6. Went to Cuba last year and brought a cheapo zebco telescopic rod/reel. My intentions were to just catch some colorful fish that are plentiful. After a day or 2 of catching the saltwater equivalent of panfish I tried my hand at some bigger fish. My resort had a large weed bed ~60yards out and to the right of the beach so I used a storm crankbait that I brought...boy was I surprised. Hooked into a barracuda, and it straightened out my cheap trebble. Next day saw a guy catching small baitfish with a hook and bread and was using them as live bait for the 'cudas. I tried it just to see, lets just say barracuda are easy to hook, but hard to land (especially in waste high water with a POS rod/reel and 8lb test). Moral of the story, bring better gear next time and slay the 'cudas. I hooked into 3 in the trip and it becomes a spectacle for the beach goers....lets just say loosing the fish/line being cut not only disappoints you, but also the onlookers haha. Never tried for bass though, that would have been fun and probably a bit easier to land on my crappy gear. Have fun and enjoy saltwater fishing, I know I did with what little time I put into it
  7. bite was tough. Lots of bites but they were lite, we were using pan slammers and they were effective, but 2 guys beside us were catching non-stop with live minnows. Nothing big though. After talking to a few people, no one was getting the jumbos. Still a good day out there but it would have been nice to get some keepers
  8. haha figures, we (my girlfriend and I) were maybe 30 feet from you all day. Bite was tough but still a good day out, how was the fishing for you guys?
  9. I am man enough to say that I missed hockey. I really felt it once the world juniors started on boxing day. Go Leafs Go
  10. But same goes for religion...no? How can one believe that man and animals just randomly appeared because of a higher power? If you don't believe in evolution, that is fine, but thinking that we were just put here along with every other organism, makes just as little sense You can believe whatever you want to believe! That is the beauty of human nature, the ability to choose and think and come up with reason. Whatever your reasoning is thats great, this thread is going nowhere
  11. so.... bigfoot.... yes..no...? All I have taken in from this thread is people have a lot of time on their hands (boredom), me included
  12. anyone remember Pimp my Ride? I was waiting for xzibit to pop out n say "you've been pimped"

  17. but what if that car, or in my case 05 Mazda3, is what get's me to and from fishing spots? got a problem with cars?
  18. Hey guys! Just a small report if anyone is interested in going to Mountsberg in the near future. Went yesterday after humming and hawing about it all morning. Picked up my girlfriend after packing up the portaboat and went on my way. Leaving Oakville, the weather was gorgeous! That changed about the time I hit hwy6, haha. After setting up the boat, let me tell you that I am glad I brought my waders, because I would have had to wade through a foot of water and about 8 inches of slop just to get the boat out in the water floating. Once out there it only got colder and started to rain. Still a fun few hours though, and it was somewhat productive. Fished just off shore (50m or so) from the train tracks and then proceeded to a nice little run we discovered in the spring that we could just drift through and cast. The wind was a bit much for the portaboat, so I threw down the anchor (old 10lb weight). It didn't catch, but I didn't want it to. Slowed the drift down nice enough to make accurate casts to where we wanted to cast without the wind screwing it all up. The fishing was slow, had a few follows and Rachel missed a decent one, which I later stole from her After she missed the fish I immediately tossed a cast in the same spot, just to bug her. A few cranks and a hookset, followed by a smirk, and the fish was caught. Ended up with 3 cookie cutter pike in about 2.5 hours. Not bad but definitely not my best day @ Mountsberg. Would post pics, but when she went to take the pictures the camera immediately reminded us that the battery was dead. In closing, if you are planning on going to Mountsberg, fish weedless (which is obvious for anyone who's fished this lake), and bring waders/prepare to get wet and muddy to launch your boat. Bait of choice was the BooYah Boogee bait in chart/white or purple/white.
  19. I am impartial. I understand that it is a fishing forum, but the people who have been on here longer have become good friends, whether it be in person or online, and I get that. To be honest I am more upset about this thread title I wanted to see a sturgeon vs a truck...
  20. please don't take my comment above as if I don't like dubstep. I do, in the gym. Fishing is more relaxed keep up the good work
  21. cool video! love the strength and aggressiveness of river fish, especially in the fall! Music choice wasn't half bad, but I dont feel that dubstep and fishing mix... great video though looks like you've had a fun fall thus far
  22. Damn thats a big bucket! Any measurements?
