  1. *** Messed up a post, meant to edit original to add a comment. We've never really fished in the fall before, so not sure what to expect. I understand that downsizing of bait would probably be beneficial... any tips would be greatly appreciated!
  2. Hey guys! Been a long summer, and to be honest haven't really fished since end of July Monday is the holiday of course, and was wondering where to go! This spring I hit up a local lake about 2x a week for a good month and a half. A lot of success catching decent pike and my girlfriend and I each caught a hefty largemouth each! Keep in mind, the inflatable in the pictures is my only form of boat, so bigger lakes are definitely out of the question! So I have heard some stories about Mounstberg (being a resevoir and all) and the water levels being ridiculously low. I have only fished Guelph lake once, but had no idea what I was doing and a front just pushed through. Never fished Puslinch, and me and the girl had a blast fishing Deer Creek (albeit the fishing was tough) during the fish-a-thon for a cure. Another option could be Binbrook.... What are your opinions? Thanks a lot!
  3. +1 for south shore. It was my first experience ice fishing and it got me hooked. The deluxe hut can sleep 8 and boy do they get toasty in there. Couldn't of had a better experience, that is unless the fishing was better
  4. Without a doubt the most informative thread I have read in a while. Dont have much to add so ill sit back and take this amazing info in
  5. great day today! it was nice meeting some of you today! thanks ryan n dan for setting this all up! sorry I left right after the prizes, didn't even say thanks, I was in a hurry! the fishing was tough but it was a great day regardless! next time gotta bring some corn
  6. The girlfriend and I are pumped for this! I have been counting down the days since I originally heard about it! Only got $90 in pledges, but every penny counts! Hope everyone has a good time tomorrow and we stay dry, I would hate for it to rain hard as my poor dinghy wouldn't survive very well If anyone knows any hotspots pm me, I'll take any tips that are being given Good Luck all!
  7. you cant fish for trout infront of killbear. killcoursie bay is closed year round for trout
  8. just tossed a spinner like bait, let it sink for a few seconds then a steady retrieve straight into the middle of the lake. had no luck along the weeds unless I was cheating and using worms, but then it was just sunfish good luck n have fun. been going there for the past 4 years, even witthout fishing the time spent there was amazing
  9. killcoursie bay is closed for trout allyear. that little lake (raby lake) has pike as stated. killbear is an amazing campground, just wish there were more easily available fishing spots
  10. can't wait! should be a great time! hope I get lucky and land a big one gotta start getting more pledges through!
  11. Good to know Terry! Recommend that I take that photo down? I don't want to break the rules, sorry everyone!
  12. I too caught my PB largie a few weeks ago, I took a quick pic of it and then released it. It happens...you can't control it when several species share the same waters. Nothing wrong with a picture or two, IMO..but then again, I am very uneducated on the topic! edit* Sorry for the hijack. Can't wait to get out there tomorrow and catch these guys legally!
  13. georgian bay saturday to monday! can't wait!
  14. to clarify, they are 'great value', meaning they are always that price. might have to pick a few up myself.
  15. PB Largemouth lastnight! Times like that I wish I had a scale...must have been around 5lbs

  16. awesome guys! thanks for the heads up on island lake, looks perfect! Might even go there this weekend to check out the pike! if anyone knows any other spots let me know, its going to help make this season more enjoyable! how about around parry sound?
  17. Hey all! Just wondering if anyone knows of any good inflatable friendly lakes. I have a voyager 500(similar to the 3 person fishhunter) and a 32lbs thrust trolling motor to get around with. I have custom built a carpeted wood floor for it for added stability and I can even stand up and fish which is always a bonus. I have been fishing Mountsberg reservoir for the past few weekends and it's a lot of fun, but I'm always down to try new areas. I live in Oakville, so anything within an hour or so drive is good! In the past I have fished Guelph Lake, but with no luck due to a passing storm front that put the fish to . I know that most conservations within Halton/Hamilton have lakes that are smaller and don't get too rough, but any others? Once bass season opens I will be going to Deer Creek (also to 'practice' for the Fish-a-thon For a Cure'). How about Rice/Scugog, given that I stay in a small bay and avoid the larger open waters. On another note; next weekend I will be going to Killbear Provincial park for a camping trip. Any one have any knowledge on good lakes near by, that are inflatable friendly? I am sorry for asking these types of questions without being able to help others out. The fact is I just don't know enough about the sport to be giving advice, but I am learning LOADS of valuable information on this site! Thank you all for your help and I hope to see a lot of you out there for the Fish-a-thon!
  18. I'm a PC gamer, always will be. Got an xbox for free, modded it so I can download games. Thats the only reason why I am commenting on here Both systems are kick ass, once PS3 fixes this issue and comes out with some more games like Uncharted, they will take the cake!
  19. While they do have a better processor and graphics system, for a majority of games, when comparing the same titles at least, the xbox wins. Assassins Creed 2 comparison AC2 isn't the only game, research it! I am not bashing PS3. personally I like it better than the xbox, but the PS3 has its problems too, laser issues, yellow light of death. Overall lets just come to the conclusion that PS3 and Xbox both spank the Wii
  20. XBOX360 has better graphics than PS3... and the RROD was only for the older versions of the xbox, PS3 has had laser issues too. No matter what, anything that is mass produced to such an extent will have problems, it just sucks when you pay so much for a system only to have it malfunction. I have an xbox360, but HATE the fact that you have to pay to play online...so the PS3 is better in that aspect (lol before the hacking anyways)
  21. I have to say.... pictures or this thread didn't happen! (I like pictures)

  23. do want! Can't wait for this! I have had it on my calendar since I heard about it!
  24. Wow! That seems almost as outrageous as 99.9% of the sellers on ebay's shipping charges. You should have taken the $7 and take your business elsewhere. That is completely unacceptable, especially from a retailer such as Northern Bass. My question is, were there duty charges involved?
  25. To answer the question on the live target frogs; Canadian Tire adjusted their pricing, so they were 13.99 or something like that, and are now 10.99 regular price, everyday. The quantum rod/reel combo feels good! Can't remember for the life of me what model it was. I believe the reel is a 5 or 6 ball bearing. Like I said, it feels nice in the hands...
