If you like cork handles, try hunting down a previous generation crucial crankbait rod, still better than the GL2 IMO.. the only thing that's different between the old and the new GL2 is the handle, color, and more models.. I was also going to suggest the Cumara Reaction series but you don't like EVA grips another reason to go with a lower gear ratio is for the torque... if you plan to throw deep divers all day, you'll notice the lower gear ratio doesn't cause as much pain to ur wrists.. also ask yourself whether you like to burn or slow roll crankbaits.. I have the Core 51MG and I had a Core 101MG, while they're amazing reels, I like to use something else for cranking.. I am actually interested in what you mean by the guides wearing out on your loomis, care to show some pictures? chances are you could send the loomis back and get a new one for a lesser price. Going from the loomis CBR series to GL2 series is a downgrade By the way, for the price of the Core, you could probably get the new Daiwa T3... cast further and has a stronger drag

I heard good and bad things about the Promariner 20 Plus Gen 2, it seems like a hit/miss thing.. I was almost going to pull the trigger on it but I went with another Dual Pro (Pro Charger) Sportsman Series SSIII (3 bank x 10 amp)

Dual Pro are probably the best, and then the new Minn Kota Chargers then you have the Guest, Promariner brands

which core are we talking about? I've used both of them the Core 51/50 or the MGFV with 7:1 gear ratio might be too fast for cranks your only option would be the core 100/101 with 6.3:1 If you can find a Curado 50/51E, grab those instead... for cranking where the rod is mostly facing down, the reel weight doesn't make that much of a difference I would also recommend the Daiwa outta luck/Alphas for cranking As for the GL2, for the same price, I would look at the new Crucial Crankbait series with IM-10 graphite and TC4.. seems like a much better deal to me.. I always see the crucial as a step above the GL2...

the metanium XT should be the same as the Curado B

what's wrong with it and what exactly do you need? many parts are interchangeable with the USDM equivalent... Shimano in North America won't support your reel, you'll need to send it back to Japan. PM me if you want someone to take it apart and do a diagnosis for you

I want to ask the people who have been to past boat shows and I'm wondering if it's worth going. I'm not looking for a new boat, I'm just looking for deals on accessories. I'm looking for a 3 bank onboard charger, new batteries, and possibly some other boating accessories I'm thinking whether I should go to this one AND the boat and fishing show in feb or just go to the boat and fishing show

I bought my HDS7 and 8 a week before they put out the new Gen 2 but the more I think about it, I'm not losing too much... I do have the LSS-1 bundled with the HDS-8 and boy did I get a good deal on it on top of the rebate.. the structure map functionality is nice but it boils down to what species and lakes you're doing... to my understanding, it's better to put the LSS-1 ducer @ the back, mark the structure you want to fish and use the sonar and GPS up at the bow to fish

I would suggest you to DIY, it't not that hard, you're just doing a clean and lube, no point of spending $50 on gas and fees just to do that... I'm sure some OFNer would do it for a 6 pack

these sales are really murdering my wallet Gagnon has some good deals on the Crucial rods, but they are pretty much gone the first hour of the sale, they also have some good deal on reels, but the good ones are gone as well. I find the Loomis rods on sale a good deal, I picked up a Bronzeback spinnerbait rod for myself. Navionics is a good deal as well, I picked up two of those boots are good deal, but you should check out SAIL first, clothing and shoes have 20% off across the board + no tax SAIL has no tax on everything, I picked up a HDS7 from them as the price is comparable to the lowest US price after factoring in custom taxes and duties

the unit never came with washer on the nut for the ny-lock side in stock form so I figured it's not needed since all the force is exerted from the top, but given the suggestions from you guys and it's only $.20ea, I'll grab some and put it on to be on the safe side
