good gosh, it's still a tie... i guess i'll go for whichever one is cheaper and i'll check out that waterproof spray as well
-
ya, I'll probably make something for the winter.. but for summer docking, which cover would be better? I don't think there's a huge price difference for both
-
Looking to get a custom cover made. Material choices are Sunbrella or Top Gun. From my research, Top Gun has better waterproofing qualities than Sunbrella but it's not as breathable. I would like to know which cover is better for Canadian climate. There's a probable chance that the cover would be used for outdoors during winter as well. Boat would be docked at a Marina.

nothing special.. make sure you have these items at hand trailer title bill of sale (with break down of boat and trailer) boat title and that's it if you can print out a copy of the internet ad, it would help in case customs are questioning. It's also helpful when crossing the border to the US to explain what you're doing. it's the second time I've imported a boat from the US and I can say that it's not as intimidating as many think. btw, transport canada has a great bill of sale template that you can use. Just remember to add a trailer portion to it.

This is also the smoothest border crossing I've done as well. In and out in less than 15 minutes. Props to the officers @ the Sarnia border. Also a shout out to all the folks on OFC who steered me away from the Princecraft in Harrisburg PA so I could land on this Beauty.

So finally got a new to me boat. She's a 2000 Monark King 160. 0.100 gauge all welded hull. Really clean boat, got her from Michigan. 50hp Merc ELPTO gets her up to around 32MPH with 3 people in the boat. Already upgraded the trolling motor to a 24V Maxxum 74# w/ Universal Sonar. Boat is really clean for its age. Now all I need to do is to add a float switch, install another deep cycle battery, install a battery charger and get a cover for it. Here's a quick snap of her...

Looking at a used Monark King 160SC w/ a 40hp Merc ELPTO any opinions on this boat? This is what I found out so far: Boat is welded Monark is a part of Starcraft Monark makes Legend welded hulls they use 0.100 gauge aluminum I also see that they stopped making boats out of the Monark brand and have launced a new brand name under Starweld, I suppose they are the same boats? any info will be appreciated Long

hmm... looks like I might need to pass this up then.. doesn't sound like it would be worth the hassle. I'll wait for the dealer to call me back on monday and go from there. Thanks for everyone's help and input
-
thanks, I'll look into my options when I bring the boat back.
-
thanks... going to try to locate the source first.. it could be a very simple thing... and because of the properties aluminum, I could easily mitigate the problem by using an anode
-
with all the taxes/gas/inspection fees.. etc.. I'll be paying about $5k the sales guy is actually very upfront and said that he'll have his service department look it over on Monday and make sure it's ok and also find the source of it.. it could be as simple as a bad ground or a wire touching the hull
-
hmm.. I never thought about the SW thing.. I'm actually thinking about galvanic corrosion or something like that.. max hp is 50hp

I'm have put a deposit on this boat and I would like to see what the boat gurus here say about it. I know it's no bass boat and I know I won't win any speed races with it. What I do want to know is how much is this boat worth (market value) and whether I got a good deal or not. Boat is missing a windshield and doesn't have a cover. It does however have a bimini top. As soon as I get it, I'll be removing the VRO system on the motor and mix my own gas. I would like to know if there's anything I should know about this year and model of boats. I also see that there's some paint bubbling in the back and some paint peeling off @ the carpet corners, should I be concerned about corrosion? And how fast would this rig go at the current set up? and down the road if I upgrade to a 50hp, what kind of speeds should I expect? Thanks! Long Here are the areas of concern:
-
the largies we see in supermarket are actually spotted bass I believe.. they're farm raised in California
-
Yes. Without it, it will be really irritating on those hot days
-
Btw. SAIL has the deluxe for $159, remember to check if they are still doing the no tax sale
-
Go for the mustang but make sure you get the deluxe version with the neoprene collar. I got the hydrostatic one from LB. The hydrostatic one will not blow up in heavy rain. The refills do cost more for the hydrostatic but they do last longer.

make sure you figure out if you're a left or right hand retrieve first.. I would suggest buying Shimano just for the resale value alone.. if you don't like BC reels, you can sell it. Abu just dropped it's prices on the Premier, STX, and SX, go check out tackle warehouse Abu reels are nice, but their finish don't hold up as well as Shimano/Daiwas.. The gearing on the Shimano/Daiwa reels are better and more reliable as well
-
thanks, going to check it out
-
You should just buy mine and keep the busted one as a spare...
-
I'm looking for a 16ft aluminum boat, SC or WT, around 50hp, unless the boat is in really mint condition, I would be staying with year 2000 and higher I don't need fish finders as I have them, trolling motor would be an asset
-
I think your Lund is out of my range I purchased my previous boat (Ranger R61) from the States and I agree there's a larger selection down there. I'm looking everywhere right now, but it seems that the selection is scarce down there compare to last fall.
-
ya, I figured.. I think the best thing to do now is to wait it out funny how the motorcycle prices are not as bad
