  1. Unbelievable how Mother Nature can unleash her wrath. Those pics look so eerie looking...not to downplay the severity of the situation, but it reminds me of The Walking Dead. Here's to hoping something positive will come out from this. And to the men & women over there to help out, we can't thank them nearly enough.
  2. Is there an official stance regarding cormorants? Lots of people saying how they're quite a nuisance, possibly invasive? I've heard they can decimate fish populations and breed like rabbits. Can they be legally exterminated? Just came across an article, dating back to 2009 about the devastation cormorants cause on their breeding grounds: https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2009/05/20/30000_cormorants_destroying_lakeside_park.html
  3. Ditto! I brought in a rod to him to have a new set of guides put on an older rod. He's up along Hwy. 7 and is usually there on Wednesdays & Fridays. The guy is a legend. I think his wife does the guides and wraps and he turns the handles.
  4. Huuuuge confidence booster fur the Raps! I hope JV can make it back out on Monday. Looked like Whiteside has the slightly more serious injury. Even if he does play Monday, don't know how effective he will be. Two more wins!
  5. Sure wasn't pretty, but a win is a win. DD and KL are still struggling. Had they made their FTs, OT could have been avoided altogether. Even KL's last shot at the end of the game was a real head scratcher. The guy had no intention of making a play and going into OT. But definitely give credit to their defence. They kept Miami scoreless for almost the entire duration of OT lol. Hopefully, the Raps can pick up a win on the road.
  6. I heard Ontario is sending out 100 Firefighters over there to help out. Hope everyone gets out safely and can contain the fire. The fire chief said that the worst part isn't even over yet. I hope that's not true.
  7. Since the playoffs have started, the Raps haven't really had all pistons firing. The commentators were mentioning how Lowry & Derozan have the lowest FG% during the playoffs amongst active NBA players. If they can somehow find their scoring touch again, things would be so different. The Raps are hanging in there because of the supporting cast...Valanciunas, Powell, Joseph, Ross and Biyombo being pretty huge on the rebounds too. Some of the bricks that DD & KL have been putting up are pretty embarrassing lol. They've been getting good open looks, but can't seem to sink it down. And what's up with using up 12 seconds of the shot clock??? Oh man, drives me bonkers! Dribble-dribble, hangout at half court for like 7 seconds, when they should setting up for a play. Excruciating! They did that against Pacers and they did that again last night and they end up jacking up a hail mary with 3 seconds on the shot clock...what the hell??? As much as I wanna see the Raps succeed into the next round, championship calibre teams don't do silly stuff that the Raps do. Although, Miami did have a few brain farts of their own, which pushed it to OT. lol Still rooting for the Raps, because we know DD & KL could play better than what they've shown so far.
  8. Amazingly, the Raps sqeaked in there for the win, by doing just enough. DD didn't have a particularly good series, but I hope he finds his scoring touch when they face Miami. It was a nail biter for sure, especially with the missed foul call in the latest minute of play. Usually, the Raps are the ones who get the short end of the stick when it comes to missed foul calls nearing the end of a game. Feels good to be on the other side of that coin.
  9. Thanks to Stoty, I'm a proud owner of a Made In Canada IMX SJR783S, but with the 2nd guide missing. I honestly thought it was a 782, but the blank is in such good condition, I'd like to enjoy it in its entirety. The conundrum is this: Any MH applications is handled well with my casting setups, so having a MH spinning rod is quite redundant. Trying to figure out what I should do to this nice rod: A.) Spend $20 or so to have someone tie on the missing guide (were they Alconite inserts?) B.) Strip all the guides and update them with SiC inserts C.) Strip the rod completely and employ someone's expertise to build a casting rod out of it (I've never owned a custom rod before) I realize that option C would cost a pretty penny, but I've heard some good things regarding Made in Mount Hope IMX blanks and would like to have that piece of history in my rod stash. And knowing this, Peterborough Shimano would probably replace the rod with the current model IMX, so that as an option, is out of the question. So...what to do???
  10. Embarrassing. Even if the Raps make it past the Pacers, the weaknesses of Lowry and DeRozan have been exposed. They certainly didn't play like a second seed team.
  11. You guys do such a phenomenal job! I got some photos from Al during the school/trout releases and the kids sure are having a great time! Like you said, the good weather makes everything so much better! Can't believe some of them are in t-shirts!
  12. I was ready to watch the Jays play when the Raps were down 90-75, but the Jays were getting pounded by the White Sox and went back to watching the Raps. lol Entertaining to say the least! Paul George is still a monster tho...which shows one man can't take on a team. Still giving the Raps the edge over Pacers.
  13. Colabello suspended for 80 games...
  14. If someone requires a quick reference to the video lol:
  15. I think there's little doubt who the better team of this series is. lol But it's always the question of if they could maintain this kind of effort in a 7-game series. Good game!
  16. I think for RA's pitch gets better as the weather get warmer. The heat really gives it the movement it needs to be effective or else it's just a 70mph meatball crossing the plate.
  17. Got my Costa Cortez shades today with the copper 580G lens. They're actually noticeably lighter than my Smith Optics, despite both being glass lens. The frames are made in Taiwan using a lightweight nylon material. My SmithOptics are from Italy. By the feel of it, the Smith Optics seems to have the better quality. Since I got them just now, I couldn't test them out in the sun, but I still used my computer monitor to test the polarization of the lens. As can be expected, the lens was able to create a complete black out effect with no distortion or uneven polarization. Smith Optics and Costa certainly have quality lens. There are also some neat looking vents on the outside hinges of the frames for venting. They're quite small so I don't know how effective they will be to prevent fogging on the inside, One thing that I could possible take away from, is the fit. Costa's website lists the Cortez frames for a large fit, but they still feel a bit tight. My Smith Optics are also on the large fit size, but they actually feel more suited for my big melon. I'll update the circumference here so other people may use it as some sort of guideline on fit. I'm looking forward to the morning to see how they perform in the daylight.
  18. JV has been a monster so far! I sure hope Demar finds his groove in this series. JV to the Pacers is how Paul George is to the Raps. Just two unstoppable players. The bounce back game sure was good, but we all knew they were better than what the score was showing from Game 1. It's fun watching a team that's enthusiastic and passionate of playing. Even though Casey pulled Demar out in the 4th, he had none of that All-Star attitude and was still engaged with the game.
  19. From the few games that I've been able to see, they're still playing some good ball. No expectations to see them 10-0 at the beginning of the season and correct me if I'm wrong, but there haven't been any drubbings. So, that's a good sign. We'll have a really good indication at the midway point how they really fare compared to the rest. Let's just enjoy the warm weather and some good ball! PS: Still not a fan of Ed Rogers, Shapiro & Co. lol
  20. Price stuck out 9 and improves his record to 17-2 vs the Jays. I still wish that he was wearing our blue jersey instead. I usually don't agree with Steve Simmons with his articles, but he seems to have summed it up best regarding the departure of Stephen Brooks: "I keep wanting to give new Blue Jays president Mark Shapiro the benefit of the doubt and he keeps giving me reasons to wonder. The latest bump in Shapiro’s road came with the removal of Stephen Brooks as senior vice-president of baseball operations. It wasn’t so much that he didn’t want Brooks around — that’s his prerogative as the man in charge — it was what he said about Brooks’ usage of Twitter that indicated he remains rather tone-deaf to the new market he now works in. What Shapiro doesn’t seem understand is he works for a company known for terrible customer service. What Brooks did extraordinarily well was communicate with Blue Jays fans, keep them informed, answer their questions, deal with their problems, make them feel wanted and comfortable. What he did, frankly, was modern and useful and user-friendly. What Shapiro also hasn’t come to grips with is, he’s not in Cleveland any more. This is not a small market. This is a huge media town with four daily newspapers, three national sports networks, two sports radio stations, wire services and numerous websites. You can’t — as Shapiro did earlier this week — have a conference-call interview for a few selected reporters after the Brooks resignation, which only angered some of those not included. You do that and you’re asking for disagreement. And that’s not to mention the Blue Jays ended last season with a Canadian team president, a Canadian general manager and a Canadian VP of business and now have an Indians president, an Indians general manager and an Indians business director. He searched high and low for a GM and business leader but all he really looked at was Ohio."
  21. Raptors are a Canadian basketball team. You know, basketball-the game invented by a Canadian by the name of James Naismith, in 1891. Old Ironmaker, I thought perhaps u graduated from the same class as him.
  22. I'd think it's just the first game jitters of Derozan and Lowry. Like the announcer said, it was very uncharacteristic from the pair to shoot 8/32 combined lol. Even I find that shocking. If they went 16/32, it would have been a different outcome. And JV going huge on the boards, that's definitely not something from last year's team. So many times the Raps were out rebounded, but this is different and we will most definitely see it. Hopefully, Raps in 5, but probably will go the distance to 7 games. It was a close one and it really could have gone either way. George was just on a whole different level. If he was playing NBA Jam, the net would def been on fire. I'm sure we will see that with Derozan and Lowry.
  23. SERIOUSLY! Recruiting people from a losing organization usually is not a good sign. Ed Rogers needs a tail slap across his face.
  24. Perhaps it's not the fact that the Jays are in a slump, but how the competition has improved.
