  1. Hey folks what are some of the objects you have retreived from the bottom? Myself I have caught a small tire,an old construction boot many piles of Zebra mussels.Fishing lines with lures in great shape. Has anyone ever caught something valuable? Lets here the the old weird tales .Mike
  2. A few days age we were worried about the human tragedies that may occur.now global warming is going to greatly affect wildlife.Very Sad.
  3. My thornes 12 foot is 26 years old .I think the life span of boat depends on how well it is taken care of and how many waves pounded it. The little 7.5 Honda that I sold is 27 trs old and still runs like new. Mike
  4. Not to long ago we were talking about bargains on snowblowers. This global warming thing is scary. We are less than one month away from the simcoe get together .Percher do we have a back up plan maybe Northbay.Timmins hell maybe Thunderbay.Soon hockey will be the most popular thread.Well I know alot of guys are enjoying this but I need snow.If the kids continue playing indoors there going to drive me nutz with that helicopter flying game.now there catching fish with the survival fishin game.If they go outside and play in the yard there is so much mud that we might submit a Tide commercial.Give me a break kids need to get outside and Play.Need snow need Ice.Need a frozen hockey rink. 6. I am pretty sure we will see some posting this evening.I fished today from shore with very little clothing and no gloves.Quinte I am sure is wide open no ice. Looking at my boat covered up I wish had kept it ready to go under the carport. Can't predict the weather. looking forward to Quinte pics/ Mike
  7. Congrats Joey.Thats alot of posts you've been stocking(Snag). After all those posts I have to ask is there cold beer in the cooler with you. Mike
  8. After today I am no longer superstitious.I have this bass t-shirt that I wear in Quinte. So far the last 2 yrs when I wear it I always catch fish. Well today fishing from shore in Montreal on the Mighty St.Lawrence......... Skunked .The shirt was on but the fish were off.Thats it no more. Just goin fishin.Mike
  9. I like mono 90% of the time my favorite line is Trilene 10lb extra tough.I also find mono easier to tie knots.Like fishin devil jigging with fireline is great for sensitivity but when you get snagged and have to get the line out you may as well cut it because fireline is difficult to break. For muskie ,Stren super braid 65lb test this is one tuff line I have to cut it with an exacto knife. For ice fishing I use stren super braid 14lb.Small diameter like 6lb mono. Pike no longer snap my line when I am fishing for perch.
  10. Congrats guys better than my day.I got skunked from shore.
  11. Well some of you pike fisherman from Ontarion inspired me to take my son fishing this morning on the St.Lawrence river from shore. We tried for a few hours but unfortuanately caught nothing.I decided to drop all that I had to do this morning and just spend some time with my son.Although he did not catch anything my little guy enjoyed the outing skipping rocks picking up some driftwood and he even found some worms. We got close to a canadian coast guard hover craft. We also saw what those huge buoys look kike out of water. Not too cold this morning.I can not believe we were shore fishing this morning December 16th.There were about a dozen boats out I wish I would have not put mine away. Makes me wonder why did so many do this with the boat? Has anyone thought that maybe the boat is coming back and the ice shelter is going to stay packed away. Global warming sucks.Mike
  12. How do we do this just show up.
  13. Here is something I found on the net.If only a Manufacturer could build a boat that you could drive with a wheel switch to the stern in comfortable position to troll. now that would be the ideal boat maybe even a retractable winshield. This is from the net I've been looking the Lowe Angler series of aluminum boats for fishing lakes >and light duty saltwater. For each length model the choice is either >console or tiller steering. What are benefits and advantages does one have >over the other? This is going to be my first boat purchase and your >insights would be greatly appreciated. >TIA...bg Biggest difference will be in comfort/convenience vs. fishing room. A console steered boat has some shelter from the wind and water, which are valuable if you fish in rough condiitions. The only thing more uncomfortable than sitting and fishing on a very cold day is driving across the lake at 35 mph on a very cold day. With a console, you also get a convenient arrangement of controls where everything is within half an arm's length. You also get better weight distribution with more weight toward the front of the boat; the overall performance of the boat may be be a bit better, although the weight of the console eats some of that up. A tiller steered boat offers maximum useful space. There's nothing in the middle of the boat (like a console) to snag your line on. You can have more people fishing from the boat without feeling as crowded. It's a simpler boat to maintain, with no steering or trim systems, and all other wiring systems (Tillers Now have power trim) simplified since everything is right there in the back of the boat. Here's the bad news: Whichever you get, you will probably be sorely reminded of the advantages of the other style when you are needing those features. Here's the good news: You'll probably own both types in your boating lifetime. Here's more bad news: When you have moved from one to the other, you'll miss the old one, too. No boat is perfect. Analyze it, pick one, go fishing. -- Rich Stern
  14. Congrats Joey,I think your T-shirt collection has increased rather quickly.
  15. Common Setmonkey this is a fun and a hot topic.it will be close to a fifty fifty split.Mike
  16. Well ya I am in 666kms drive to go perch fishing.looks like I will be bringing the boat.I will be setting up the 2 man Frabill in the boat.Ice Ice Ice we must pray for some ice ask for some ice.Keep the away he will melt the ice.
  17. I have the 3000 BTU coleman Blackcat it heats my 2 man Frabill well enough but I would be curious coleman has a larger unit with a fan that runs off Batteries.it sells for about $112.00 though .It would be nice to have during my annual ice fishing tournament where no shelters are permitted.Just hot air blowing my way.Yup thats my next purchase. Ok Lets pray for ice
  18. Ok Guys and Girls what do you prefer Tiller or Steering Wheel?Need your fair opinions! We already know what the Bass Boats prefer.I see some boats with a console and a steering wheel trolling with a tiller kicker. Disreguard my first 2 attempts at this poll which ended up in the Help section.LOL I am just getting used to this board.I am stuck in between tiller and wheel.I like fishing for walleye in the warm summer with a tiller but come November I would prefer to have a full wrap windshield with the steering wheel and a roof. Mike
  19. This is a shot taken in early September on the St.Maurice river 30 minutes north of 3 rivers Quebec.I got skunked that weekend but as you can see I took time to Relax.......
  20. Hey folks I starting to think we will be taking our boats to Simcoe in January.Pike fishing Dec 14th no ice.Today in Montreal 12 degrees. Always love the Pike report .Mike
  21. I bought my first boat in 2001 this 1989 Chapparal. After a couple of years it was not the boat for me.Not great for hopping from lake to lake.Sold her in 2003. I replaced the 16ft fiberglass for one summer with this little 12 foot Thornes (1980). I only paid $100.00 for her.It is in mint condition no dents and does not leak. This one comes camping with us when I can not bring the new boat. While I was looking for a deal on a 12ft tinny my wife had me buy a canoe. The only floating vessel she likes.I want to sell it but she won't have any of that. So I finally bought a boat I like in 2004 a Lund SSV 18 foot .
  22. Ok I blew it read too fast.Later Mike
