  1. The only thing I would have changed now would be to go with a quartz countertop. Like the looks of them. Bill
  2. Not barring previous comments, as I've had both custom cabinets and Home Depot, I've had no problem with both. The custom cabinets were nice in that they were tailored to our measurements. On the other hand, we totally gutted the kitchen in our house, took down walls ,redid electrical and used Home Depot to help with the new cabinet layout. We went middle of the line not the "Thomasville" or whatever the top of the line is called. This includes all new uppers, lowers, two full height pantries, over the stove cabinets etc. and have had no problem at all. All guides still work well and it's 7 years later. I'd have no problem going with their cabinetry, certainly wouldn't use their installation teams though. Bill
  3. I'm downright envious, love perch dinners. Damn, must be nice to get out. :worthy:
  4. :clapping:I enjoy nature photograhy myself and have never, never been so lucky as to experience what you did. I am envious. Count yourself very lucky. Bill
  5. Oh enough of this ACL stuff, I had a knee replacement done , in December 17th, out and back to work light duty January 20th. Almost 5 years ago now and still going strong. No more pain in that Knee, no high impact sports but golf and everything else is good. (I do feel for you) Bill
  6. Right now I'm leaning towards the Abu C3, it seems to get better ratings than the C4. That's about the price range I'm looking at as well. Looked on the Daiwa site and got afraid, went to the Shimano site and looked at the Calcuttas and went into apoplexy. I know, I know you get what you pay for but unfortunately, I'm the wieners and beans guy not the steak and lobster so the C3 will have to do. Thanks for all the info guys. Bill
  7. Thanks guys, hadn't considered used. I like right hand retrieve so the Cardiff won't work but thanks for bringing it up. I know I don't want to afford a Calcutta new or the price of a new Luna (can you even still buy them) for this but a good used may be feasible. Good suggestions. Bill
  8. Alright guys, I've decided that I'm not going to use my line counter to cast for Pike, so ooooooo looking for a round baitcasting reel to use. I like the Abu reels haven't decided which one yet however I wanted an opinion of the Okuma round baitcasters. Sure can't afford Shimano so looking at others. The Okuma Akena looks good, somewhat of a lower round reel profile. Want to set this up with higher pound braid and the metal leader made from titanium I think it is that you can tie on. Like the idea of a species specific set up here. Input please.
  9. I have a Remmington Wingmaster with a 36" ribbed goose barrel. This is a beautiful gun especially since my father bought it for me when I was 15. Now at 60 years old it's still beautiful. Not a big hunter , more of a fisherman but it is a great gun for my length of arm when skeet shooting. Bill
  10. Another reason for a new reel, yeah:Gonefishing:
  11. I have a very nice Abu line counter reel. Can you use this reel to cast for pike and or Muskie?? Does it screw up the line counter function? I am not a reel officianodo so have no idea. Thanks guys.
  12. :wallbash:I want to place a bid but can't figure out how. HELP, HELP HELP. Bill
  13. I was using the uni to uni to tie leader to braid until got shown the improved surgeon's knot, way simpler , smaller to go through the guides and no slip.
  14. Well, I couldn't wait any longer, stress was killing me so took the afternoon and went up to Belwood. Didn't expect anything but a day of tuning in the new Citica and Saros F and that's what happened. No bites but a beautiful day sitting by the water wetting a line. Ice is not completely out yet so they're not letting anyone launch a boat and no boat rentals yet. Open water is basically by the Shand Dam, the rest looks to be full of slush ice. It was a great day for 3-4 hours just tossing the line in the water and sitting there . Bill
  15. There is a reason Muskie only hit if you do a figure 8 or a big O They're "fairy " nice fish. :clapping:
  16. Yamamoto 5" Senkos in moss green, different size mepps all the way up to #5 anlia, my live target bluegill, and perch, deep diving rattling crank and black and orange spinner bait. Bill
  17. I read the post on the Blue Fox hooks, and I've always wonderred how you determine what to replace the current hooks with. I've got some baits that I'd like to switch the trebles on from the original that have seen some use to for discussion purposes, some nice new trebles preferably red. How do you determine what hooks to buy so the bait still runs true? Bill
  18. The Leafs and the Raptors are marketing marvels. These teams draw in big dollars, (don't know the comparison to same market size teams in the States) and as far as a business is concerned are successes. These companies aren't in this to win a Stanley Cup, they aren't in it to win games or make it to the playoffs. They're in it to show return to the shareholders and that's the problem. I'll probably be called an idiot but I look at some of the football teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers who are owned by the same family for a significant period of time, they seem to still have a passion for winning versus corporate owned teams. If the fans started staying away and let it be known we expect a return for the money we spend, maybe the Leafs and Raptors would make the next step to be more successful. As long as the corporation is making money with the status quo, that's where it'll stay. Bill
  19. We lost another avid fisherman this past weekend. Neighbour and friend passed away after battling tongue cancer for a long time. He was an avid perch, bass and salmon fisherman and frequented White River area and Squirrel Lake every year. He will be missed. Bill
  20. That's my main concern, the influx of invasive species who haven't been killed off by the cold weather or freezing conditions. I imagine that water levels will be down on Nipissing for my vacation in July as well. Bill
  21. I'd love to on the weekends I can, own my own business so tied up sometimes but I love to fish, don't have a boat and don't mind sharing gas. Love to fish for BASS, walleye, perch. Not a big trolling guy but do have equipment. Live relatively close by as well. Bill
  22. I learned a new know the improved surgeons knot that I will be using. Ends up a smaller profile than a uni to uni. Great. Bill
  23. Glucosamine every day, one pill seems to really help the knees, need to lose some weight as well. Low impact exercise to warm up the muscles really seems to help. Bought some arthritis gloves from the pharmacy, kind of a neoprene, wet suit idea that keeps the hands warm but has cut out fingers really seems to help when the fingers and hand hurts. No matter what, I try to keep the flexibility going even if it does hurt. Bill
  24. Just turned 60 and I agree, although with older age comes the ability to zone out and nobody notices. Go to the local lake, find a nice spot with a tree, line with a bobber in the water and ignore everyone. Hearing is going so it's easier.
