1. I was quading with my brother on Saturday and came across this http://i1023.photobu...101204-1555.jpg It was about 6' high in the bush and was 3 feet tall and about a 1.5' wide. I have never seen anything like it before, and thought it was worth a post. Some of the steelhead guys do a lot of river walking through the bush and might come across them from time to time. The bees were inside it moving verrrrrry slow. K.S. sorry guys can't seem to post the pic.. the link works though.

4. absolutely beautiful!!!
5. I got pulled over on the French this past summer pulling the nieces and nephews on the tube. They kindly waited until the kids were off the tube and in the boat before they stopped me. They checked for life jackets, bail bucket and flashlight, and asked me for my card. I had left my wallet in the cottage, and let it go at that and gave all the kids a little package of rockets for wearing their life jackets! They stopped me later that afternoon while i was fishing and checked my card out. I think they are a little more concerned that the kids were safe etc rather than the op. card.

15. I was there from October 6-9 with 8 guys. Was quite a bit slower than it was in the summer. Still managed a few walleye, smallies and pike each. No muskies though. I've had much better fishing previously on the French. K.S.
16. ditto no defensive zone coverage on both sides
17. i feel your pain Brian, i have never hunted the controlled hunt, and prolly never will, but on my dads property my bro dad and i have made about a dozen stands along the fence line and bush. The property is clearly marked "no hunting" and the white peice of wood with the red dot on it. Last year the week after the first controlled hunt i went into one of my stands and it had cigarrete butts on it, empty pop cans etc, so did 4 others. Must have been one of the "deer mafia" groups that hunts around our county. Up to 40 guys pushing bushes and shooting deer in places they don't have permission. I don't like to go up against other hunters about this, most of us are respectable to other's property etc, but i put hours and $$ into those stands not to mention countless hours scouting, planning, and leaving some of those spots alone to hunt them during the rut only to have the ruined by these guys. I have trail cameras up this year by the stands if they come back i'll have their pictures.
18. WOW!! As a flames fan, i've been waiting for a leafs fan to say that.....i can't believe phanuef is still held as an elite defenseman....he was better 4 years ago when he played a hard hitting, offensive game. Now he's either too lazy or not nearly motivated enough. I thought the change in scenery and the C would get him going again. Its too bad, i was a big fan of him.
19. congrats on your truck purchase! I would first start paying attention to the body, fix the bubbles, and get it oil sprayed. You said it had new brakes, i wouldn't let it sit for any period of time as they will rust...even a drive around the block once a week will help. As for the exhaust, intake, plugs and wires etc, use the old moto "if it aint broke don't fix it" fluids changing is always a good idea.. just my two cents!
20. mr pike i'm sure was just trying to soothe his lip, being all sore and all from his recent unwanted piercing
21. love your fishing reports, keep them coming!!!!!
22. wa'lll then, you'll never forget your first of the year! lol
23. way to go!!!! you will never forget your first!!
24. wow great video! my heart comes out of my chest when i see a coyote or a doe go by my stand.....i'm a little worried whats going to happen when "that" buck comes around, never mind a massive bull!!!!
25. i wasn't aware that turnover is "toxic" see link http://www.sdhu.com/content/news/details.asp?n=941 every time i fish the french the water level is different, so each time i have to "adapt" to different fishing conditions. I find the fish move in the French more so than other systems i've fished and thus harder to pattern them, but every year, it seems to get tougher and tougher to get good numbers, where as in other systems, the more experience i get, the more fish i put in the boat. Its getting harder to make the decision to go back as the scenery is so beautiful!! I believe that netting DOES reduce fish numbers, even if done only once in the spring...
