  1. a lot of people in California and parts of Mexico use these huge musky sized swim baits in an effort to catch a 15 to 20 pound bass, as they can grow that large in those parts. many are hoping to beat the current world record which is a tie at 22 pounds 4 oz.
  2. they aren't because unless you have antibodies in your immune system already (which you won't unless you have either had the virus previously or been vaccinated and allowed the time for your immune system to build them up) having a good immune system does very little to stop yourself from being infected if exposed. thats how viruses work. its not the same as bacteria. Viruses are very good at infecting otherwise healthy people who have strong immune systems. thats why are they such a problem.
  3. its one thing to protest lockdowns because people need to go work to earn money to pay bills and live etc its quite another to believe Covid is all a big scam - that site looks like it leans towards the latter. it preaches removing masks and posts old videos from the early days of the pandemic with information that has since been corrected as we learned more about the virus (eg masks dont work, 50% false positives etc)
  4. oh yeah Ontario is making international headlines because of how badly our government (actually both levels) are messing this up. hundreds of flights in and out of Pearson daily. but I can't get my haircut.
  5. Great so now I have an even less of a chance of catching my first In all seriousness this sucks overall. big time.
  6. Fishing World in Hamilton is also well stocked with lots of the higher end gear. they are small but stocked to the ceiling with gear. Its an amazing store.
  7. yup, when i learned how in 1998 shimano was just starting to release a few lefties but most companies had only righty's available. so we cast and switched. tough to unlearn that once you get good.
  8. when i started learning in 1998 I used to take the hooks off of a Rat L trap and practice casting either on my street or a local park with 12 pound mono. 22 years later I still use 12 pound mono (I like Sufix Siege) lol After a while you will be so good you will cast and switch hands without even thinking about it (often before the lure even hits the water) (assuming you are using a classic righty reel) Good luck and practice practice practice off the water first so by the time you hit the water you are confident. have fun!
  9. I'd love to know why Cabelas.ca ( basically Bass Pro Shops Canada cause they have never bothered to start a Canadian Website in the 20 years they have been here) sucks so bad. never has good selection, often out of stock.
  10. I bet with that 250HP that boat could get 100 MPH
  11. they wont sell to anyone with over a 4 inch pecker
  12. Another rod to consider is the St. Croix Triumph 7 foot medium power. I am a fan of the Triumph line for bang for the buck, I like St. Croix and Loomis rods, to me they are the two best companies out there. The Triumph line shouldn't break the bank either. congrats on your combo!
  13. its the length of the rods and the weight of some of the lures. My muskie rod is 8 feet long and its on the shorter side of what most guys use there. Most fish min. 8'6 and some even 9 footers. My rod is the MH so I'm using smaller lures but I'm amazed at how far i can cast a Mepps Giant Killer with 20 pound Sufix Siege Mono. it flies.
  14. Agreed. the fines are not enough of a deterrent. this idiot will probably be back at it next weekend.
  15. completely wrong. commercial fishing is harvesting fish for human consumption. tournaments are always catch and release.
  16. Sail and Fishingworld both have 20% off almost all fishing stuff right now. I picked up a St. Croix Triumph muskie rod from sail last night. 20% off
  17. i fished there while on vacation years ago, i caught barracuda, trumpet fish casting rattle traps off the rocks around the beaches (eg. at John Smith Bay). i used a 3 piece travel rod, 12 pound mono and a steel leader, We also used squid on the bottom and caught many kinds of saltwater fish (like wrasses) There are bonefish in Harrington Sound. I didn't see or catch any but if you go on youtube there are videos.. I have caught bonefish on jigs off the beach in Nassau Bahamas though (in front of Sandals while on honeymoon)
  18. i find i can throw my J13 rapalas much better on my baitcasting gear than my spinning gear. not sure why. So I use a spinning rod for spoon chucking and my 7'6 baitcasting rod for J13 rapalas.
  19. nice! go get em! those daiwa whiskers have been around since the late 80s and are famously good.
  20. maybe so but I always thought the super rich always had drivers for just about everything?? ie someone else can drive while I relax.
  21. the FKs are fantastic. i have a 3000 size. the new FL is essentially the same reel but with a long stroke spool.
  22. Hi, last time i was at Bronte pier, the pier was closed off and gated. big sign saying 'structure unsafe keep off' not sure if thats due to rehab on the pier or just the high water. yesterday the waves were coming over top of the liftbridge on the hamilton side, i assume that is closed as well. Where can we chuck spoons this year??
  23. it kills me to see pics all over the place of people fishing or posing with fish from tubes, inflatables or kayaks and no life jacket on. in order for it to be effective you have to be WEARING IT.
  24. spend the money and get a stradic, either the FK 3000, or the new FL 3000.
  25. it says in the article the guy doing the ramming served jail time prior. sounds like a real winner.
