  1. no worries this time of year with the cooler water they are pretty tough, probably took off like a rocket.
  2. Awesome! were you able to land him?
  3. oh no was the pup ok? hopefully got checked out by a vet , i'm sure if there were puncture wounds antibiotics are needed.
  4. Including murder: https://bc.ctvnews.ca/no-jail-time-for-man-who-fatally-stabbed-senior-in-vancouver-1.7071331 thanks liberal judges..
  5. awesome fish!
  6. Agreed. They are so much more colorful and green compared to the LSC fish which seem to be much more pale (but are bigger)
  7. Do bucktails/Mepps baits work even in fall when the water gets cool/cold? I know guys throw big rubber baits then but do the bucktails still work? just have to slow roll them? thanks
  8. They are there. we stayed at Wild Woods cottages a few years ago right by the mouth of the river and there was lots of pike there. All hammer handle size though.
  9. Which horror stories have you read? they seem to get glowing reviews from what I have seen and mine has been flawless. the only thing I recall seeing was when they first came out they had some where the drag would loosen on its own for some reason, but I believe this was fixed by Shimano.
  10. so, I use a St. Croix Premier MH 8 foot muskie rod, its also rated from 3/4 to 3 oz. I use a tranx 400A reel on it. if you are serious about muskie and big pike the tranx reels are worth the investment. They are strong, smooth and easy to cast. worth every penny. Ironically, the only muskie I have ever caught was NOT using my muskie rig, it was caught on my MH bass baitcasting rod, casting a #5 Mepps Black Fury. go figure lol
  11. "suspended from fishing for one year" - what a joke. should be 10 years.
  12. the only way I could see someone surviving that is if they were in a basement etc. down below. because everything from ground level up just got obliterated.
  13. Our tax dollars at work... Keep bugging them. they must have a record of your numbers somewhere. I've had mine since 2003 the first year they issued them. I have had to show it when renting small boats a few times but thats it.
  14. thanks everyone! tight lines!
  15. Hi, so we are renting a cottage this summer in Sauble Beach and the Saugeen River mouth only like a 12 minute drive from where we are. I know there is lots of shore access there. It's a mixed bag there right? Bass to perch to muskie?? I have a bass baitcasting rig, a light spinning rig and a muskie rig. Do I bring it all?? Thanks for any advice you can give
  16. Ok but this is what I am saying. you can't have it both ways. Either the rule needs changing to allow for pics like this to be legally taken or The rule should not be changed, and this pic should not have been taken in the first place. You can't say "rule needs to remain but this is ok as an exception" because then everyone makes an exception etc. that's all I'm saying. change this dumb rule so you can take a pic of your proud grandchild with his first muskie legally. full stop.
  17. like I said, the law should be changed. I know people are disagreeing with me on that but this case is a perfect example where an a quick photo should be allowed as long as you aren't messing around with it for 5 min out of the water etc.
  18. absolutely amazing!! but this is one of those examples where this 'rule' needs to be changed. who wants to be the person to tell that proud young man that we can't take a pic of him with his fish out of the water because its actually an OOS fish? not me. the people who make these rules don't even fish and its rules like this that get put in there because of it. I would absolutely take a pic just as was done. congrats on the first muskie young man!
  19. the Regs in Ontario always drive me crazy they are so needlessly complicated.
  20. yeah I think Loomis has improved a lot on the build quality issues, they have received a lot of criticism over thread wrapping gaps etc. When the NRX's first came out it was a disaster lol As you said, fish don't care but for $900 the customer sure as hell does lol That being said, the build quality of both of my imx pro rods is perfect: so I think a lot of the previous issues are gone hopefully for good.
  21. So last year I bought my dream rod, the Loomis IMX Pro MBR 903C, 7'6 MH fast action, 1/4 to 3/4 oz lures its incredible. the MH power with the 7'6 length is amazing, its a rocket launcher caster and very sensitive. I use it for everything, and have caught everything from perch to muskie on it. I have mine paired with a Curado 200i with 12 pound test Sufix Siege. Highly recommended rod. It was pricey for sure, but worth every penny. Everything about it screams high end.
  22. Ya I was thinking that too. The river where I caught him apparently does have 50 inchers in it but this fish definitely wasn't it lol
  23. my story from what I understand is not unusual - I cast Big Rapala jointed shads, Buchertail 500 and 700s and Mepps Giant Killer lures from 10am to about 3pm took a break, picked up my Loomis IMX Pro bass rod, cast the smaller #5 Mepps Black Fury and WHAM sometimes downsizing can help entice a bite. They weren't interested in the bigger stuff that day.
