I agree Ironmaker. Things have to change and adjust to the times. Like I said, there's a lot of money to made in this industry, and if we can all "own" a Crown Corp. as taxpayers lets make it profitable...very profitable! Lets go shipper boys/gals, make us some money and a good return on our investment!! And I hope you get a good pension in return. It's not about Harper or Trudeau or whatever who cares... as long as we as Canadians don't sell low and buy high on anything.

They say they will focus more on packages, package security and internet delivery, so maybe it's not a bad move, the shipping industry will only grow bigger in the future. I guess we'll see how much the Government interferes, which they shouldn't. There is money to be made with this crown corp., so let it grow! And pay your people well for frigs sake, I'd rather see the money in the hands of the lower-middle class than only the people who can afford to be shareholders. And yes, CP is much more affordable than Purolator and the likes...I can't believe the cost of shipping via those firms. Who the heck can afford that, it just makes everything more expensive.

hahaha Art. your avatar is freaking me out! Ironmaker, you're pretty spot on. We are consultants so our role is mainly managing the site, documenting, talking with clients and ensuring the jobs don't spiral out of control either cost-wise or mis-managment wise. And, sometimes there are fatalities during the accidents, so we are sensitive to that as well. Not fun in those cases, but it's part of the job. The MOE Officers are typically friendly and lately, it seems that they don't have the resources to partake in the cleanup, they just wait for our reports and follow up later on. Things get litigious very often, so we use foresight to the best of our abilities to protect our clients. Working on an interesting spill right now near Timmins, someone is getting a fine for this one.... they didn't report the spill for a few days and things are worse than they should have been.

Chances are most of us already have some kind of stock in these blue-chip companies through RSP's, mutual funds, pensions...most people don't know what their fund managers are buying/holding. The other option is to become less gas dependent with efficient vehicles, furnaces etc. The other option is to complain on the internet about it hahaha, just kidding Dave, this grinds my gears too.

That sucks Cliff. I hope you have a low deductible and I hope they restore your basement the way you want it! You have the same setup as my place, no floor drain. Its unnecessary due to great drainage, but a drain sure can help in the event of a disaster. I just had an on-going septic back-up issue. We had to rip up our floors the first time it happened. The second and third time we were more aware and caught it quickly. It finally got fixed by my awesome pregnant and resourceful wife who actually dug up the septic lid and called in a pumper truck who FINALLY pulled out a nasty plug...I was in Winnipeg and she couldn't reach any of our guy friends to help. Anyway, I kind of know what your going through and it's a real burden.

I'm asking for some mitts/gloves. I go through a lot each year. .22 bullets I already got my big gift for the year...a kitchen table...laaaaame hahaha.
