  1. Ya! Not bad for just the second trip this year
  2. OH man! That's a benchmark if I've ever seen one! Congrats Bill, call this ice season a success
  3. If the bite is on, live bait is a pain in the butt. Any flashy spoon or lure you mentioned above will get you into some fish.
  4. I called Cabela's in Winnipeg, they referred me to Yetman's on Jarvis. Yetman's list price is $10.99 + shipping. I'm more than happy with that, I doubt shipping will be close to the $30.00 they are asking out of the States.
  5. I just started fishing south shore again (ice conditions finally good for driving). We did ok, but have to move a bit to find 'the spot'. Generally, everyone is reporting a good season.
  6. fantastic as usual! Love seeing them atlantics.
  7. 'punchable- faced' ? hahaha. If you had your way, we'd all be in trouble. You sound like a very angry and violent person.
  8. New blades will make a world of difference. Don't bother sharpening them either, it never works the same.
  9. Nope, it's the entire party. Focusing on one person is simpleton and raw raw go sports team stuff. He certainly is a symbol, but an entire party he does not make. Eliminating the senators, aides, the MP's and the party's combined forces leads to misguided opinions and fanfare. For example, the loss of Hugh Segal is a bit hit to the Conservative party imo, but no one talks about that. I still can't figure out why the Liberals didn't choose the astronaut as their leader.
  10. Why would you focus on just 3 people?.... it's the party you vote for, not the person. There are lots of good/bad people within every party. If you don't get that, then step away from the keyboard. Modern politics reminds me of a Sens/Habs/Leafs debate.
  11. Is that why you bring meaty-Bill along with you on your middle-of-nowhere trips? ....Camera-man??? Suuuuuure
  12. I would have turned around at '...snow plow'. Bet you slept good that night! Good job slamming that PB!
  13. I was gonna say: well worth the frostbite.... but, of course not really.
  14. My first ever top-up last week at 1.05/L. Furnace, cooking stove and hot water, since July would be about $250...reaaally can't complain. On the other side of things, I just had to make a deal with my dad to procure some more wood. I'm about a month away from relying solely on Propane. Instead of fishing, I'll be chainsawing today. I'll have burned what I'm guessing is 10 cords by the end of next month. Next year, I'm preparing 15 cords. Live and learn. I keep the house quite cool (14-16 deg) and the place is very well insulated with new windows. with the wood stove, the basement is warm and we typically hang out down there anyway.
  15. Good stuff! A great ice report... I'd like to post one like that myself!
  16. It's gonna be hard on rocker panels out there.
  17. No prob, new dog-owner here, so that was a good heads-up.
  18. We GOTTA get some snowshoes soon! That's on the birthday list. She says she hates the cold, but she's always out walking and fishing with me. HH, certainly an avant-garde frosty look. haha.
  19. After a short walk in the bush last night.
  20. We also fish out of running vehicles. Don't bother with shelters or mitts or anything, just fill up and idle away
  21. No prob! it's ok, those pics Twocoda posted are something else!! Sorry you and the dog had to go through that...yikes Buddy will certainly be a prey-chaser and yep, I'm in a rural-wooded area. I really hope this doesn't happen to him, I appreciate the heads-up, something else to think about.
  22. Thanks Fish' and Manitou' I haven't yet, but I really want to get him pulling...anything. So far I've been establishing the ground rules and the hiarchy. Hopefully in the next week or so I'll get his harness on, cut some trees and make him pull the cuts back on a sleigh. That's really cool about the mitts!! I'll have to google that.
