Was down there for a little while this evening, and there was nothing going on. Got a Goby, saw a sucker and a tiny little Bluegill, but they were'nt having any of it... Been a long time since I fished here, now I remember why! LOL...
-
Thanks. From what I hear, the cut bait is THE key to it...
-
If I recall, they're really not fond of mothballs. Most rodents aren't. The only problem is that it's a short term bandaid.

What test line are folks using to catch these beasts anyway? 20Lb?
-
Yeah, a trip to the tackle shop is in my future. Never heard of circle hooks, and I don't have anything close to 3oz in a sinker, but that will soon be fixed. I'm also guessing my 10Lb Spiderwire mono won't cut it for these beasts... On the positive, I found a guy in Oakville that's giving away a 14' fibreglass, he's sending pics tomorrow, so I may soon be floating!

Well, the commute will be way easier on you, that's for sure! Congrats! I love that old Pop Shoppe building...

Well, I can't say anything about Avast!, but I can recommend AVG free Download. It's all I've ever used, and all I ever install on folks machines when they bring them to me. You could also run the Trend Housecall online scanner. Both are very good, and free....

Okay, I'm sold. I'll have to take a drive out and introduce myself to Mr. Fishmaster... Thanks all!
-
Thank you sir, that's what I was looking for, and more!

I know I'm new here, and I'm not looking for anyone to give up a hot spot, but does anyone think/know if it's worthwhile trying to catch catfish off of shore in Dunnville? I haven't found a boat yet, and I would love to get in on the derby, but can you get them from shore? Thanks!
-
I've tried, (and failed miserably...), to shoot my own reference for pin-ups paintings I've airbrushed. It's a lot harder than I thought it would be. I know what I want to get, but don't know how to get it. I'm impressed with your work! Thanks for sharing.

When we do our fly-ins, we bring up 3 up with us, and we've never had one fall off. Mind you, those were 14' ers with 9.9s on the back end, so we weren't flying or anything. IMO, if you plan on moving the unit from boat to boat, go with the suction cup unit. If you've only got one boat, get a mounted unit.

I, for one, don't mind projects like this at all. In fact, I am looking for a little project boat to putt around in the Grand and the local conservation areas. A few years ago I was given a 35 year old cedar strip canoe that had fallen off the top of a car going up the 400... It was a mess. Took me the better part of a year, and probably cost me more in tools and material than buying a new one would have, but it kept me away from the TV, and gave me a great sense of accomplishment when it was all said and done. If you've got the time, a bit of money each week, and a sense of adventure, then give it a shot. If you find you can't be bothered, PM me, I'm always looking for another project.

I've been looking for something to airbrush lately. Maybe I'll take a shot at painting along these lines.. Thanks for the inspiration!

Yeah, if they're anything like my Husky, it's blowing out like crazy in huge chunks. Bet nobody has to brush them everyday or their wife yells at them.... But I'm not bitter...
-
As a buyer, I'd walk away. There's no shortage of boats out there, and it's not worth the headache. Just my opinion...
-
Nice work Marko. I managed to catch a couple of suckers myself this evening, but that was it. That carp is the fattest one I've ever seen! Wow! Your water there is a lot clearer than the murk I was drowning worms in... Again, nice job.

Well, it still beats work, doesn't it? A buddy went up to Dover on Friday, said they were starting, but it's still early. That may be another possible destination tomorrow, or down to the High Level bridge... I love days off! LOL -
LOL! I never thought about the irony, but you're right Rizzo. Rob, I was wondering about that, is there more to 'cut bait' than just butchering a sucker, or is there some secret herbs and spices.... Anyway, I went down to the river again tonight. Seems to be dropping abit, but still fast. 3 decent sized suckers. Better than an evening in front of the tube...
-
What a great way to kick off the season... I'm jealous! Nice work.
-
I'm putting on some 10LB Spiderwire MONO. Have it on my others and I really like it. Maybe I can sneak out tonight to check the river.... Where's my wife?.............
-
Well, suckers are most likely what was surfacing, after seeing their dorsal fins. Monday, I'm going back down to the river and teaching myself how to use a baitcast... Seems today is going to be devoted to Geocaching again with the wife and at least one daughter... I'll have to try to keep the truck outta the mudholes this week...
