  1. Small town here Simon, nobody stays in business by "ripping off'' the locals. I would talk to "Tom" & try to reach a mutual satisfactory agreement. Imho
  2. Not most guys I hunt with, infact none of the guys I hunt with.
  3. I would choose blower before plow.Another option would be paying somebody to plow you out during that period. Lots of guys in the area with plows on their 4x4s
  4. This pic will help get me through the long winter ahead. Just me & my stash boat, not another soul around for many miles.
  5. Seems to me like a case of "biting your nose off to spite your face",you are out the gas money, your time & still no tube.
  6. While looking at your pics,my GF heard me exclaim "WOW" & asked what I was looking at,showed her your post, she said "WOW" Beautiful shots, thx for sharing.
  7. My new grill does the same thing, brush front to back, not an issue. Every now & then turn all burners on high & cover the grates with tin foil, leave for 5 min, most crude will incinerate & brush right off. Enjoy the new BBQ.
  8. This 1 helps me get through the winter.
  9. My daily driver is an Escape AWD with V6,I average +- 25 MPG,this is my 1rst awd & I was a little skeptical about how it would handle winter driving in this area ( a lot of snow covered side roads),2 winters now & I love this vehicle.
  10. Maybe because we have jobs & can't travel all over the country at the tax payer's expense.
  11. I fish my favorite "secret lake" with a 10ft jon & 30lb Minncota,I have a Group 27 deep cycle from CTC that has served me well for years, just make sure you put on a charger & top it up after each use.
  12. Thanks for the ride Simon, brought back lots of memories,I haven't been on a sled on "the goon" for 15+ yrs. My x-wife's family owns the small island on your left at 10.20.
  13. Imho the biggest issue in rural living is water,I moved out of town 25+ yrs ago,3 different properties,2 with lake water supplies & 1 drilled well. The lake properties have potable water, the well is not,OK for cooking ,not drinking, so we use bottled water when there for drinking, making coffee etc. Make sure the water system can handle the local winter weather conditions,ie buried deep enough or heated. If buying an older home, make sure the seller has a record from the original install of the septic system. You have to make sure it was done to properly & have the needed permits etc. I would look for a home in an unorganized area if there are any in your area,Much lower taxes & you can do some work on the place without permits or building inspectors looking over your shoulder. I heat with a pellet stove, but have a forced air electric furnace as back-up Good luck in your property hunt,I will never live in a city or town again if I can help it.
  14. COLD,but NO BUGS
  15. Is your heatline controlled by a thermostat?I had the same problem with my line to the lake, the area the temp probe is in is better insulated than than where the freezing took place.I had to raise the set points so the heat kicked in at higher temps. Also added more insulation. I feel your pain
  16. Sorry about the feet,GF's picture, also her feet
  17. Like this? Also my fav in the summer
  18. Here in NWO we are allowed studded tires from Oct-Apr. My GF commutes about 150km to her job over mostly secondary hwy,she has them on her Jeep Patriot. My daily driver is a Ford Escape with very aggressive all seasons The difference is definitely noticeable between the 2 vehicles.esp on ice & snow packed surfaces. If the prov govt want to change the law they should allow studded tires throughout the province.
  19. Simon, you mentioned the ice was "booming" in your post. I spend the winters about 200yds from Eagle Lk (just across the road),was out for a smoke on the deck last night & the ice was screaming, the forcast looks good for making some decent ice.
  20. Very NICE sled Simon. You know we are not getting any snow this year, right?
  21. Exactly what I did,posted add for free boat,6 calls in 1rst 1/2 hr,boat gone in 1 hr.
  22. After reading the 1rst post about this I had to try. My weaving skills also aren't the best, the veggies were all fresh from the garden & roasted in a pan right under the roast to catch all those bacon/pork drippings. It was a big hit with my GF & the neighbours.
  23. I actually do most of my fishing with a transom mount electric & portable fishfinder(boat cache at remote lake).I find it easier to carry the battery & motor on my quad than a small outboard & the electic starts everytime & trolls all day without hicups or fumes. I can troll for hours & still have enough battery to get back to the landing,I troll in reverse & have excellent boat control if the wind isn't too bad.
