  1. I spent the last couple of days at the lake. This was early last summer. My little herb garden reminded me of this thread.GF & I planted some herbs last year & plan on a lot more this year. Last summer we had basil, oregano, parsly, rosemary, tyme, dill, chives & cilantro(I found I'm not a big cilantro fan)
  2. I have an old 12 ft "stash boat",it leaked for years & I tried silicone, epoxy & just about every quick fix I could think of without success. Before I hauled it out to the bush for the last time I sprayed all the outside seams with cheap rocker panel spray from CTC,( rubberized asphalt). Not pretty but I gave the old boat a camo paint job on top. 3 yrs later & still no leaks.
  3. The average walleye fisherman in NWO has more hours running their outboards in reverse backtrolling than going forward at all speeds.
  4. Another GREAT job Bernie.
  5. I started cooking when I married my ex-wife,she wasn't much of a cook & somebody had to step up!
  6. https://www.ontariossunsetcountry.ca/accom.cfm Just the resorts in NWO
  7. Just watched this on youtube.SUCH drama. Spirit rock?We call it the reef in front of Dave Kelly's place. Best way to Eagle Lk is airplane? I guess hwy 17 that runs right by some of the lake isn't a good idea? I allways thought this was just another so called "reality show",now I know for sure. I lived on Eagle or 15 yrs & let my kids swim in those monster infested waters. My bad.
  8. Back to M2B2,yes I was living on Eagle,BIG mess.
  9. The show didn't air in Canada, but I do know that 1 of the lodges Wade fished with is North Shore Lodge on Eagle Lk,I tried to paste a link to their Facebook page but had no success ,checkout the page yourself if you want to see the type of muskie fishing this area has to offer. There are some photos of Wade.Btw I used to be next door neighbors with Scott the owner.
  10. There is no better friend & companion than a dog. GF & I currently have 2,an older border collie who is soooo smart it's scary & a ''dump puppy",she was a rescue dog, found in the dump at a northern community with 5 siblings.Only 2 survived. We were just talking the other day about what to do when the older fellow comes to the end of his days & as much as we love puppies(doesn't everybody?),we think we will foster older dogs that other people won't adopt. No dog like an old dog,ask my GF
  11. Another oldie And because this supposed to be a fishing forum.
  12. First & most important. These are NOT my creation My GF put these together a few years ago for my GrDaughter who loves black olives. Might be something your kids will enjoy putting together Rick.
  13. OK an old shot.
  14. Although this story is over a year old,I'm happy to see it brought up again. Herbeck apparently "sold" the lodge to a local couple since but stayed on as a guide. I just looked at Andy Meyer's lodge website & facebook page and Steve Herbeck is featured on both. The arrogance of this man sickens me.A non-resident who become a "famous expert" while abusing Canadian resources. Imo he shouldn't be allowed to be in our country. I think the fact that the current owners are still involved with this man speaks volumes.
  15. Shag,as requested, 2 loins cut in half 1 lb bacon 3/4 cup soya sauce 3/4 cup brown sugar 1 Tbs minced garlic 1 Tbs vinegar Wrap loins in bacon & poke holes in meat. Mix other ingredients well in a small bowl. Pour over loins in suitable baking dish, marinade 3-4 hours in fridge. 300 deg oven for 2-3 hrs Cover with foil after 1 1/2 hrs. Slice & return to sauce before serving. This is pretty close to the original recipe, but next time maybe I would reduce the soya sauce to 1/2 cup or maybe use a low sodium soya sauce. I left it in oven for 2 1/2 hrs & overcooked it. I think this might be good with some maple syrup instead of the brown sugar.
  16. GF found this on Facebook yesterday & I had just returned from the local COOP where they had pork tenderloin on sale. With that kind of coincidence,I had to try out the recipe today. I overcooked it a little but it was still pretty good
  17. m2b2,thanks for the recipe. There is a restaurant in Dryden called Kokums Bannock Shack, they use bannock in place of buns on all their burgers, one of my favorite places to eat. They also have a small fleet of food trailers & a bus converted to food truck that travel to Pow Wows & different events throughout the area. If you come across them in your travels give them a try. Their "Moose Balls" are sooo good, made of deep fried bannock sprinkled with brown sugar & cinnamon.
  18. LIVER Cook in large pot of water with a big rock. When the rock is done, eat the rock & discard the liver. Liver is evil landfill imho
  19. It looks like the work of "tiny beavers"
  20. Officer "you drinking?" Me "you buying?" We laughed & laughed I need bail money
  21. Bush & June = BUGS Whodathunkit
  22. YES,just stepped outside & north sky is on fire
  23. If by some miracle this "drama teacher" becomes our next PM,I have 2 things on my agenda, 1 Increase the size of my herb garden. 2 Buy shares of snack food companies.
  24. Regarding the question of gardens & septic systems, one fall while chicken hunting I came across an area that contained a pit used for dumping septic tank contents. Around the edges were lots of tomato plants & there were some of the biggest tomatoes I have ever! I considered taking some to work to share with an annoying co-worker It was mentioned that herbs were easy to grow & I couldn't agree more, plus they add so much to the taste of home cooking. I just started growing them last year, but will be planting lots more this year.
